Oh Nick. I've never deleted my footage before rendering the video. I have however forgotten to press record in OBS TWICE! 😂 You had a good start and doing well up to the incident. I don't think that was avoidable so it was just wrong place wrong time. In the Ferrari using the fixwd setup I always do a couple of clicks back on the brake bias as I find it helps me. If you noticed the rear tyres were always 10-15 degrees cooler than the fronts throughout the race and changing the brake bias can even them out. Remember there are quite a few of us in Damien Cross Racing's Discord, so if you need any advice just hop in and ask. 👍
Cheers Doug! I've actually been ramping the BB forwards to about 55/56 to try and keep weight over the fronts to aid turn in. Annoyingly, I don't seem to be able to get real-time tyre data on iRacing. It only seems to update when I pit. I don't know if I'm missing something or of that's the way it works in iRacing. I have a mode on my Formula Wheel to display tyre data via Sim Hub, but it's useless when I'm on iRacing. Do you know by any chance?
Yes Nick iracing only updates the tyre data on telemetry when pitting so you have to rely on the dash on screen to see the temps which is really annoying. I prefer to have a rearward brake bias myself but it is really whatever works for you.
Tell you something Nick you have no luck at all in this car 🤕 I have had runs like this myself and it just puts you on a downer for awhile, Subscribed 👍
@@SmithersSimRacing Already 1 step ahead of you mate, did it once I finished my stream last night 👍🏻 Yeah I know. The tracks narrow so that doesn’t help, but there was nothing I could have done other than back right off the moment the yellows were thrown
@@SmithersSimRacing Had some pedal issues towards the end, which I think I sorted this morning, but towards the end I think I was spent as I was getting frustrated and not really getting anywhere. Put in about 80 laps in total tho, with another 30 this morning, and I've almost got my 1 lap pace into the 2:01's so things are looking good 👍🏻
That bump is definitely ruining some races this week 😂 I have noticed that you are using a brake balance (56,4% if I see it well) too far towards the front wheels, this car tends to be quite "understeery" by default and with this balance you are increasing this effect. Besides that, the further away from 50:50 (or 50%), the longer the brake distance will be, and the more prone to lock up the brakes. This brake balance is very dependant of your driving style, of course, and maybe what works for a driver doesn't work for another, but to be fast with this car you need to master both trail braking and smoother braking, which it's going to be difficult with that balance. In my case I use 48,7 in this track, I suggest you to try lowering your balance little by little to familiarize yourself with the car and the different rotation grades the brakes can provide while playing with this setting. Good stuff, it's a shame this track is so narrow that is almost impossible to dodge incidents. I wish you better luck in next races! 💪
Cheers mate. Regarding the BB, I guess my understanding was wrong. I put it forward to try and keep more weight over the fronts, to aid the turn in, hence why I cranked it up. I guess I need to learn more about the BB then . . .
@@nock-racing I used to think it the same way, tires only have so much grip to give. That grip can be used to stop, accelerate, or corner. When you move the bias rearward, more braking means that more of the grip or the rear tire is being used to slow the car, so there is less available for cornering, causing it to slide more when you apply lateral forces. It’s all about maximizing the loss of grip of the rear tires under braking to get that extra rotation into corner entry and have the car and the steering wheel as straight as possible in the corner exits, this allows you to be early on the throttle and carry more overall speed around the lap.
@@larinv that’s pretty interesting tho, thinking about my Sebring practise / running. The base setup provided by WSS puts the BB at 71%, which given what everyone’s saying, is madness. I’ve learnt to drive the Aston now with that, but I wonder how I’ll get on putting more rearward to follow everyone advice 🤔
You are slowing far to much for all the turns. You should never never need 1st on this track unless you are in traffic. If you do the first 3 turns correctly you will hit 5th on the long strait and you also can carry the speed into the turn 4. Won 4 event this past weekend and run 33's on average at this track.
@@therealpofo thanks for the tips and congrats on your wins. I’ve not had a great deal of time to practice over the last few weeks as I’m prepping for an endurance race in a couple of weeks. I need to work on my technique as a whole though and braking / trail breaking is a big thing to improve on.
