Man I am a owner with my own authority and a direct contract having my best year. and prior I was a owner op getting 85% booking my own loads. I then paid the company I worked 500 dollars to consult me into getting my own authority which was a waste of money. As long as you have a trusted compliance company (ifta, eld, licenses, drug test,) and every small shipper you go into speak to them directly and fish until you can get a direct contract. I don’t think you need to pay for classes or mentoring. I think it’s all exaggerated to say that’s needed. When people ask me how to start an authority I simply say call while I’m doing a load and not when I’m home or in my free time and I’ll explain it for free.

lol there's no "contract" especially when you're running a single unit. You might have an agreement from a small shipper/customer (shippers don't always arrange the freight) but there's no contract that means anything. They can literally just call someone else and book them on it. But yeah "direct contract" sounds fancy and exclusive but it's no different than booking off DAT. A true contract is when a carrier is able to provide a service that other carriers can't so a large customer locks in capacity guaranteeing terms for both parties. It's not a load to load basis
@@WestCoastTruckingCEOI don’t have a single unit and I have a mobile office trailer on the premises of a shipper in Kansas. Anything shipping between 9 and 12 pm is mine for the next 2 years. I have a direct contract. In addition to that if you’ve ever been to Aldi in Olathe, Ks. It’s a lane contract JB hunt services has now. Before JB Hunt had it. The guy who helped me get my authority and taught me to drive an 18 wheeler. He had the CONTRACT lol. He got it by fishing when he did brokered loads. Prior to him it was S and H and he got them moved off site. They had an office there. It was too much freight and he couldn’t service it. But the freight I run now I had to sign for agreeing to not broker it out and the requirements for people who deliver it as in any driver under my authority has to have 2 years exp. I use Penske and own 1 truck in my name outright. In Texas I know single owners that sign contracts to do pneumatic tanks as well I’ve driven for someone who did it. I know a single unit owner under his own authority that has an agreement with MCLANE touch freight. Talk to someone that can learn from you. Not me. As for my contract. I don’t factor and I’m paid weekly from the same company for the last year or so. They brokered surplus freight often now it’s directly to me and I signed an agreement I must adhere to an we renegotiate in January. What do you call that?
@@WestCoastTruckingCEO lastly what you mentioned isn’t a true contract. All companies with over 60 trucks within a particular area can do what other companies can. They bid on them and have to have a trailer pool to be able to cover and they lock in for a year then they rebid again. It has nothing to do with what other companies can’t do. Its bid and contract. @p__kingg since then, I did some digging. What about fuel in California, it's currently 6$ a gallon that's $720 per refuel..400 on the low end, insurance for the trucks, what if you get a flat tire? All of this comes out of MY business credit card. If the driver were to go to Florida. I'd be out potentially 2k for the drive alone. There's lots he's leaving out. I'll just stay in my computer lane.

Loadboards may be on the scam of double brokering. They can easily KYC brokers with their driver licenses, so if they run away, the loadboards can give their private info to carriers that they scammed. Notice how the loadboard services don't do it. Truckstop only KYCs carriers that factor with them

New to me as well but from what I can figure is its a full load (max weight or close to it) but doesn't take up the full space of the trailer, or a partial load that pays as a full load so you can't load multiple loads on the trailer so companies ships partial but pay full load price because they don't want their products loaded and unloaded multiple times potential getting damaged. That's the only thing I can figure and come up with.

Fully loaded trailer with more than one stop. Take half the load partially the whole way to the second stop, or the first stop to in this case Florida, with the second half of the load back out of Florida, like to Georgia or Alabama usually because it’s harder to find freight coming out of Florida.

I dont understand whats so bad about double brokering, if you find a load and someone who cant find or get loads is willing to do the haul because they desperately need the money to feed their family, some people just cant find loads to haul for weeks. And i also i dont get why are you allowed to post it on "🎉load boards "if its so illegal. Is it bad to be a middle man? I feel like if they agree to the price of the haul, and know they not gonna make much than why agree to taking the load if you feel like you getting ripped off? Before agreeing to do a haul, you should do the calculations on the expenses like on gas, tolls, new tire fees incase you get flat tires on the way. If it makes sense agree to the haul if not move on to the next one..
Double brokering often results in the carrier who actually takes the load not getting paid by the person who rebrokered the load, which is theft.
