A friend sent me a clip of his trip to Dungun. I decided to search for more about Dungun on RUclips. I love the sea. Beautiful video this is, the food is important for one considering retirement before too long. Grew up in a small town, i am good with Malay food, the Penang version in particular. Hope that it will be an affordable retirement destination with affordable accommodation.
I am Terengganese but working and living in Kuala Lumpur for so many years. Thank you for opening my eyes to many hidden gems in my own state. Enjoy your stay there.
My mother and I were so entertained by your eating montages. Absolutely hilarious! She’s a Sarawakian ex-pat who’s lived in California for the past 45 yrs. Your videos are nostalgic for her. Thank you for showing us beautiful East Malaysia.
Dungun satu daerah yg famous era 80an sehingga late 90s..selepas tu dungun seperti dilupakan.. Rantau abang dah hilang dari radar.. Thanks for ur video
I had to study the map after watching this! Very informative. We've had Terengganu on our radar for a while now since as you mentioned it is near the more touristed islands. Now we've pinned Dungun ;)
Just to remind... alot tourists and outsiders lived in Dungun died trying to swim at Dungun beach area. As far as i remember no true locals had drowned because we are very aware how strong the undercurrent sea waves. For outsiders, just enjoy the view, do not come to Dungun with intention to swim in the open sea. Dungun is a very small town so public transport is not much.
I live there but since young until now age 49,i won't dare to swim at the beach. Our late father told us to stay away from the sea. Just enjoy the view but don't swim. And we all know why.
Brings back memories of Tanjong Jara Resort. Was supervising the water supply pipes installation from the main road to the resort before it started operation back in 1978.
My hometown! Used to picnic at the beach every once a week with my friends but we all now busy to do so. Usually we will bought foods and drinks from stall around or pasar malam then picnic @ the beach.
Hi C.K.. its so good to see you eating delicious local food at Local price.. those lads doing the mango juice.. i love their head-gear.. it should be a fashion item for all Malaysian man.. you should walk around wearing batik sarong and that head gear too ''just to see how local react''.. they might give you free meals ''who know''... but its so sad to see Malay women has ditch their kebaya and selendang for some middle east headwrapping booboo.. other wise the ambient would be so perfectly Malaysian.. but its also sad to learn the inevitability of the town of ''Dungun'' will go into another economic hyper mode and will change beyond recognition when the semi highspeed rail the ( east coast rail linked ) is completed in a few years.. some say its a bad thing.. but me thing its about time.. those fantastic long white beach is under utilised.. looking forward to your next Video my friend Mr Teh..

I’ve been too many places in this world but never have i seen rain like in Terengganu,it seems like it was going to rain forever and so heavy pounding on the roof.
Don’t spill the teaaaa CK 😭. CB Wee was like my childhood restaurant back when my grandpa was on duty in Terengganu oil refinery. Always singgah to CB Wee whenever i came to Dungun since if take LPT highway til KT, you’ll be missed A LOT OF THINGS somemore its dy 4 lane federal road. CB Wee you can find the cikgu at cashier and also you can bring ur dedicated lobster or ikan to let them cooked for you. During peak seasons, idk why CB Wee sometime penuh kaw2 but yeah its the perks of Dungun. Thanks CK for another great adventures! Oh ya next time try the Roti Paung 😜

I doubt my Thai would do me much good there. Nice to see that in Malaysia they have not managed to cover every square inch of beach in resorts, tacky bars and other eyesores so common in much of Thailand. The food looks wonderful.
what are you freaking talking about ''are there any hotel or Guest house in the town of Dungun''.. Dungun is just a little town with its own transport system for the needs of local people.. your question is really insulting and ignorant.. in a few years the town of Dungun will have a high speed train connection direct to Kuala lumpur.. the Tanjong Jara resort where C K ate was one of most luxurious resort in Malaysia.. it won the Aga Khan architecture award when it was completed many decades ago.. by the way what make you think Malaysia is back water hell hole.. do so some simple search before you insult people..
No worries about not speaking the Malay language, you will be fine! Most Malaysians speak basic English ; so many other foreign travellers like youtubers Ken Abroad, Jetlag warriors , Travelgramers etc explored the beautiful east coast of Peninsula Malaysia without any issues. And yes, Dungun has many guesthouses and hotels which you can book via the usual sites like Agoda . Dungun is also the gateway to the lovely but lesser-known island, Pulau Tenggol
