If you don't like the reflex ball always rebounding back at your face I've got some bad news for you about boxing

    A couple of details:
    1. Looks like the string is too long, the ideal lenght is from your shoulder to your wrist.
    2. Try to use the headband in an 45° upward, this small details make a world of difference.
A final remark, add slips and turns to avoid the ball it is great.
Nice video, keep your great work ! 👍

@kineticboxingfitness7953 I agree the string does look little long I find if the ball is up to your belly button that works, it's all about trial and error but keep at it❤

It’s a good tool, hand eye coordination, rhythm and timing. All good things for boxing.

I use mine while incorporating forward, backwards, and side to side movements moving in a box. Also if you do a short lead or rear hook you change the balls direction 90 degrees thus you get to train ninety degree pivots while also training your tracking for the follow up straight that has to “catch” the ball back into rhythm.

As a veteran schoolteacher, my main focus during training is to prepare for the very real threat of rogue toddlers trying to take me out. It’s important to me that I know I can single-handedly take out at least a dozen at a time if the situation calls for it. Cannot recommend this product enough.

I've been training for around 20 years in multiple disciplines including boxing, and I found it extremely difficult with gloves on day one. I switched to bare knuckle and it was easier, so I'm 4 weeks in doing that. I use the black ball for a maximum of 170 hits, but average around 80ish. I do this 10 minutes a day. I've sparred twice since getting good at this, and I did feel that it made a difference in my reflexes in my opinion. There was a specific moment where I threw a right hand at the body while my partner was bracing with his left hand, and threw a check left hook from a very close distance to my face, and I was able to see it through my peripheral vision, and duck it. I believe normally that would have landed, and I was shocked when it didn't. I don't use speed bags, or double ended bags, so it's possible that someone who does wouldn't gain that much from doing this. I mostly do mitts, heavy bag work, and spar, along with the general conditioning exercises for boxing.

One thing i must say is start bare knuckle as with the boxxing gloves are a handy cap and makes it much easyer.

I recommend raising the height to where the ball is to your belly button. You can do this by simply wrapping the string around the headband multiple times, or cutting and retying the string.

Just beware the string doesn't get trapped on your thumb and the ball whacks you in the nuts!

I just got one. It took me some hours to be comfortable. But. It’s a soft ball. I’m surprised when it hits me, not afraid. I’ve been hit in the face too many times for a pillow to make me afraid. And I say that with no hate. Just my thoughts. Just fun and something to just have fun and focus on.

I was considering getting less and almost nearly bought one but then I suddenly realised after watching your video that it would definitely be not a good idea for me as I totally forgot that I wear glasses and left the balls coming straight to my head then it’s naturally gonna hit my glasses and break them and I have to wear my glasses to be able to see where the ball is. thanks for the great video.

I found that hitting the ball with the flat fingers of the fist and not the knuckles helps.
You can direct the ball like using ping pong paddle.

I have one tip for you. Try to train with this while using boxing resistance bands, this way you train more as you do it.
The soft one is too light, tennis ball works much better. I got light soft one, and it really is trying to hit your eyes all the time. I have no problems with tennis ball version, using both hands right away.

The biggest negative seems to be that it tends to put people into bad postural positions so prolonged use could be problematic.

Thanks for the honest review. I was thinking about getting one, but wasn't sure. I'm going to get one now and making sure to get the heavier ball. I like the idea that I could use this as I go for a walk or wherever.

  • @Toogoodtobetrue458
    @Toogoodtobetrue458 3 года назад

Good review. Maybe you need to use your bare fist for the softer ball. It’s like hitting two soft thing with one another it will absorb impact and dissipate the energy. The bare fist is a harder surface than the boxing gloves so it might bounce back stronger as it leaves your bare fists of fury. Thanks.

    • @kineticboxingfitness7953

Thank you. You make a good point. I have tried it bare handed and the results were the same for me. The movement is very different so, for me at least, the heavier ball is better

@@kineticboxingfitness7953 I got mine on Monday been using it barehand. I would recommend glasses or sunglasses- the rubber string sometimes whips back awkwardly and hits me right in the cornea. But other wise it’s a good tool - feel like a spaz first two days but getting better on day 3. Just wanted to check back in.

@@Toogoodtobetrue458 awesome! Yes, i got the string on the eye too 😟 It took me about 7 days to get to one minute of striking and after a couple weeks i reached 5. Did you get the heavy or light ball? Have you tried with gloves? Gloves are much better for me. Keep it up, keep moving

@@kineticboxingfitness7953 I got the ymx set off Amazon- it came with 4 balls and 2 head bands. Technically 3 balls because 2 of them are beginner balls and there is one advanced ball and the another “pro”. It’s weird I feel I have more control of it with bare fist rather than with boxing gloves. I did try both and also feel both have a bit of a learning curve. Yup keep moving- thanks KB&F. Thanks
