Looks good but is very expensive for just an adapter. $200-400

@@flatman5632 True, and would be very useful! I have a quite cheap phone adapter (~$20) which works nicely but unfortunately goes over the eyepiece and doesn't work for higher magnification ones. So this would be great... might just have to save up a bit!

Better to just buy a trinocular head and a cheap phone adapter. I use that and a 10x eyepiece.

I'm definitely going to 3d-print myself a version of this, minus the custom optics of course.

Though convenient, this adapter is nothing more than a generic eyepiece (not correcting optimally for objective’s aberrations) and a plastic case, yet priced like a decent used microscope.

One thing we need to see before coming to any hard conclusions (or spending a dime) is some photos by Oliver comparing it to photos taken by his Nikon.
For what it's worth, this is the company's description of their lens: "The LabCam SmartLens, made from a premium coated glass lens and chromatic correction module, ensures high-quality images with built-in 10X magnification."

High quality optics are expensive. It came with several different adaptors + tons of optical components; you have to understand that these aren’t cheap.

@@legendarypillow1450I have one of these adapters and took it apart. Consists of nothing more than a generic eyepiece, going in AliExpress for 16 usd per pair and a plastic iPhone holder.

Hello, I have a stereoscopic Amscope Microscrope with the 3rd eyeport available for a camera to be inserted. However those cameras are low resolution, low frame rate unless you spend $500+. Is there a make/model iPhone holder/adaptor so that I could use my phone to take pictures/record video through the provided 3rd eyehole? It sits almost vertical on top of the microscope. Any help is much appreciated

It looks like a nice device but for the price, I'd rather invest in a good camera adapter or even a good quality dedicated microscope camera.

I have used a different brand of iPhone adapter that fits over just one of the oculars (which has its advantage as well). It does a pretty good job for $24.00, although it must be stated that the optics that they tend to put into these cheap adapters are third-rate, at best. Even so, it is an inexpensive way to take photos. And it is worth noting that many phone cameras (Apple's, in particular) do an amazing job, no matter the cheap optics.
It would appear (from reviews that I've read) that the optics in this LabCam adapter are very good. And they offer various models based on your specific iPhone...and I've read elsewhere that the fit is good, easy, and stable.
The only catch is the price. The adapter for the latest iPhone Pro Max 14 is $289.00. Given the convenience these can offer, that could be worth it for some. I like the utility of using it (especially a large phone) as a viewing screen. But I think I won't consider this as an option until the price is a more reasonable $150.00 or so. Maybe when they sell a few, the price will come down.

Can someone help me choose a microscope camera off of AliExpress for my omax 40-2000 binocular microscope? I'm a newbie and this fits my budget but I have no idea what to get. It needs to be Mac compatible. Tia ☺️

I have been extremely happy with my LabCam Ultra adapter. I really appreciate the stability and the horizontal orientation, it is like adding a new digital head unit to my 1990s compound microscope. The adapter still works fine if I rotate it out of the way so I can look through the eyepiece on the right-hand side. The appeal of the Ultra was that I was getting a high-quality 15x eyepiece along with the adapter.
This is not a cheap option, but the trade-off is that there is no fiddling to get the focus right or adjusting it if I bump it. The included eye tubes make it possible to use it on my telescope.

I am using the Swift adapter but have encountered consistent problems with the alignment...it's almost impossible to keep the image centered...this seems like a great idea. Thanks for sharing

I've recently used the Celestron XYZ Adapter, which is pretty neat considering it fits all sizes of mobile phones and does not have any additional optics inside (which is also good because who knows how good these additional lenses are).

Hi, good, I wanted to ask you a question between the Swift Stellar 1 T Pro and the Motic BA310, which one would you choose? Thank you so much. All the best.

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  Год назад +1

Big difference between the microscopes. The BA310 is much larger, can accept 5 objectives instead of 4, larger eyepieces etc, and therefore costs also much more. So I would prefer the BA310, but this comes at a price.

    • @miguelangel3029

@@MicrobehunterMicroscopy Thank you very much for the answer, the only thing is that the Motic BA310 is second hand, it costs me €750 and it has EF-N PL lenses but it is halogen and I don't know if it is better than LED or not and if it is worth it.

@@MicrobehunterMicroscopy there are others on youtube who said their stellar pro arrived faulty, with an off centered condenser. Mine was with a faulty focus knob, a bent filter holder and a bent nose piece. It looked like so from factory production. Currently there are many Chinese vendors which are selling these rejects via ebay .
