Another great video Shan! I love how genuine and down to earth you are. Well done on the Christmas gifting - these are goals I aspire to next year! Merry Christmas the kids will adore their toys xx
I love a good kislux because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!
Oh my goodness. I want to send you an XL mug. But you can only fill it half way. I’m having a nervous breakdown over the liquid sloshing about. 😂. Merry Christmas!! 🎄 ☕️ You did a great job with the presents.
my 2yo and 4yo are getting charity shop items + vinted + new. Good miix. What i learned from last christmas is that they want to play with things immediately so shiny boxes etc are just frustratign and better to have things opened and ready to play with. Batteries in already etc
I personally wouldn't give anything incomplete or broken as it can cause frustration. My dad gave us a push-along thomas train where none of the buttons worked as it had been left outside previously. I decided against giving it to my son as he wouldn't have understood why it didn't work. I'd just buy the items again second-hand but fully working. X
Love charity shops. In America we call them thrift stores. Got an ornament craft kit for the kiddos I babysit for. Kept them occupied for the entire time.
Genuinely I’d use the wooden shape pounding bench shapes for printing with paint! Would be really easy for small hands to print with. The wooden one with the sticks you could then leave for her to pull out and put in the bench as normal
I've done some toy swap presents this year with my friend's and their little ones, where we wrap up a toy our little ones no longer play with and swap amongst ourselves. Kids play with 'used' toys everyday at nursery/school/groups. Secondhand toys are a great idea 😊
My children's (whonare roughly ages with G and H) favourite toys are broken household items. Your daughter will enjoy the toys with missing pieces just as much as the ones youve bought brand new for her. Quite frankly I'm starting to think that my children will be very happy with their presents even if they all came from the skip! Giving them love and attention is better than any toy! You're doing great :)
Sometimes when things say something like 3+, it's not always a safety issue, but a skill level issue. So it may be that the toy would be played with as its intended by a 3+ child, but a younger kiddo can still play with and enjoy!
George is so similar to my 4yo!! They would have a blast playing together - all about the battles 🥴😅 He got a Gu Jitsu Stretchy Car for his birthday - slime is really popular with him and my 2.5yo daughter. I got the Aunty Sunnie magnatiles and the fort building kit for their shared presents 😊
Nothing wrong with hand me downs or second hand! Bunch of grumps! I got my girl some toys for Christmas from Vinted this year. Instead of paying 30/40 for a brand new version, I paid 5 to 10 pounds with postage included! And my son will also get a second hand Hotwheels Truck from Ebay too! Probably saved me well 100 pounds! Merry Christmas San! Your kids will love their presents!
The toys with missing pieces I would just give to her now but not as a present. If you think she’d still enjoy it it’s worth keeping rather than binning, but definitely couldn’t bring myself to wrap up a toy with missing pieces.
We’re giving a mix of second hand and new as well. Also made me laugh about having to take the hammer away from George. We had a girl first so she had that toy no problem but I’m too nervous to give it to our one year olds because I think they’ll just bash each other with the hammer 😅
Soooo much snobbery in these comments!! You dare to do anything Shan 😂 love the hand me downs, no different to when your family or friend is expecting a baby and you pass it along. Honestly, these people ought to leave you their bank details with their judgment so you can use their coins to buy brand new!
@@chloegould1482 😅😅 each to their own, I don’t see the propel with second hand stuff as gifts (especially at this young age!), but if it’s not for others, then they don’t have to do it 😅 xxx
Cost of living crisis happening and people are turning their noses up at 2nd hand gifts. Shops are upping the prices of toys that have been sitting new on shelves for years but that’s ok. 2nd hand and a little new is the only way I can give a decent Christmas this year and we have 2 good jobs. Kids won’t care if they are new or not as long as they can have them, especially at 3 & 1 😂 keep doing u Shan, sensible and successful 👍👍
I love the second hand gifts! We always do the same. My little girl is 22 months and I’ve wrapped up some cuddly toys that she already owns because she hasn’t played with them or seen them for ages! She’ll have no idea! Just wanted to say I’ve heard lots of people have had problems with the Aldi toys this year with bits missing! It might be worth opening them and checking it’s all there before wrapping them up 😬 xx
I really don't see the issue with second hand presents especially at this age. I've bought a lot of my christmas presents for my almost 1 and 3yo from vinted. Brand new toys are extortionate and I feel that, that money can be spent elsewhere (such as clothes, days out etc) rather than another toy. Plus think of the planet guysssss
Make sure to make a note somewhere of the presents you're keeping back for Halle's birthday! I did the same for my son and forgot about them, just found them in the loft last week so they have been added to his Christmas presents 😅
i always have this issue with my hubby too about lie ins. But he does overnight if our toddler wakes up and she does most nights because this is the only thing i refused to do. Mums already have a harder time than dads biologically.
We have the exact same lie in schedule.. I would be livid if my partner did that on my one lie in day! Question.. what time is the other person allowed to lie in for in your house? PS great idea wrapping first born old toys for second born, will keep this in mind! (I'm pregnant with my second).
I think i can count on 1 hand how many lie ins i had, sence my 1 year old was born. Becouse he was working i done all the nights too. There's nothing wrong with second hand toys. They grow out of some toys so fast too
Absolutely nothing wrong with hand me downs, my 5 month old is getting all my son's toys from when he was a baby, what's the point in spending more money and being wasteful?! Completely agree with Shan here, at that age they don't have a clue
hand me down from george who is her brother and she could have them any time of year instead u decide to give her her brothers cast offs for Christmas wow
She’s 1 year old and frankly, the fact that I’m wrapping them up is mainly to keep up appearances for her older brother. She doesn’t have a clue about Christmas yet 😅
Why is this an issue? If she threw them away and bought everything brand new, I'm sure you'd let her know how wasteful she was being. It's embarrassing that you've watched this video just to leave this pointless comment.
She's a baby and does not care 😄 Why are people bothered by how much is spent on a child or whether a present is new or a "hand me down". The point is that it's something the child would like or something they need, if that's not your goal then you're doing something wrong 🙈
Another great video Shan! I love how genuine and down to earth you are. Well done on the Christmas gifting - these are goals I aspire to next year! Merry Christmas the kids will adore their toys xx
Imagine thinking a 1 year old is snobby about hand me downs. Great presents
I think it’s great that you’ve gone for some second hand items and hand me downs, it saves them going to landfill, good on you. x
Your skin is beautiful!!!

So clever to do secondhand and hand me downs as presents! Idk why I didnt think of that!

Pretending to be wholesome, not so wasteful use charity items instead of all the promo toys. Funny how so many people fell for it 😂

Heya, they put 3+ because there are safety rules they have to follow for under 3. X
I got amber some new clothes and pj's new dummies glowing in the dark bib dummies
Im all for saving money where we can, but come on wrapping her brothers old toys with bits missing is a big no from me!!
Hand me downs are fine. As kids get older they may want their own things, but a one year old is not gonna care about that. Lighten up people. 😆
Great video!!!
Sorry but the countdown timer is loooong!
Haha! that’s just the RUclips default!! I can just post it without a premiere next time ♥️
Im all for hand me downs but not for Christmas. As the youngest in my family, I find this problematic.
But they’re toys?
It’s not problematic at all. She’s 1. Give your head a wobble.
