Why do they say "customers" without electricity instead of "citizens". Really a bit disturbing the way everything is framed in transactional language.
Customers, i.e. households. No one can be sure how many people live in each "customer's" home.

For the same reason that you are watching these clips on the nbc youtube channel. It used to be that people uploaded the videos to youtube and that was what you watched...straight from the source. I guess my main point is that there always has to be a middleman corporation to make money. Banks lend out taxpayer money and they get the interest and fee, the government pretty much pays for most of the infrastructure for getting people their power in these places...but there HAS to be some company to "'manage" the distribution. The characteristic distinction between feudalism and what we have now is that we have "transactions".

There was a report of 22 barges that are loose and 1 other type of vessel down there. Who has to go out and secure those vessels? Law Enforcement? Coast Guard? The Owners? They won't be able to get at them right now though, once the hurricane blows over they can.
22 Barges along with 2 Ferry ⛴ are adrift. Great!!!

all of new Orleans out of power. we were told "catastrophic transmission damage" . i10 at exit 234B both eastbound and westbound are flooded. cars misjudging and now underwater. people were stranded in the element.

Hope all involved are safe, but I have to ask, why is Louisiana using flimsy poles and out of date transformers to support the electrical grid? Wouldn't it make more sense to bury theses cables in water prove housings? Why is it, that in a country hit by storms every year, no one has thought about the problem and done anything about it? There are many countries in the world suffering storms, most have learned to change their infrastructure to cope.. One breath of wind or snow, and America goes dark every time.
