Absolutely hilarious, this has to be my favourite scene ever in the series, because it's bonkers but eminently practical, what better way of testing a kitchen surfaces finish than smearing food on it, the cake mixture was the best! I love the way she does it as well, like it's the most normal thing ever.
You can tell when she started putting the ingredients on the bench she was really enjoying herself. The set crew must have been rolling around trying not to laugh.
OMG "Keep Up Appearances" is just the best British comedy! Patricia Routledge was great in comedy. It's too bad she doesn't do any other physical comedies. Brilliant actress and comedienne!
@@elizabethh776 She is now in her eighties and lives near where I used to live Chichester West Sussex. I believe she does "readings" on the stage at Chichester Theatre but that all now. Sadly old age creeps up on us all. She was/is a very very talented lady, so glad the Queen made her a "Dame" well deserved.

Hyacinth is what we use to refer to as someone on a real ego trip. She is funny. Who every wrote this series did a brillant job It is so excellent, I love the show and so does my older family members. Thanks to AZ PBS we have been getting this show for over 15 years. This is one episode I had not seen. Poor man she just gave him a heartattack.
