We Chicagoians have NF's that sound just like this. They're numbered 1930-2029. I especially love the sound at 0:58. It reminds me somewhat of the old MAN Americanas.
Gijoedouche, Surrey did not steal all of those buses from Burnaby. They are just hard to find (and I hate the Novas, too!). But these buses are used mostly on the 028 Joyce stn/Phibs, and 135 Burrard Stn/SFU. Plus, I hate these buses when they go over the bridge and they're too loud! Grrrr!
None of the interior lights in the front of the bus are on. Only the ones past the rear door are on. Strange...I am aware of the 1st set of lights turning on and off when the front door opens. But notice that there is a large section of lights not turned on when the doors are opened. I don't like that at all.
Here in my hometown, we have a fleet of Gilligs--High and low floor. On the low floors, the entire set of curbside lights turn off when the door closes at night unless the driver overrides it. I HATE THAT because it's too dark for me.
Vitus152, I can't see because I am blind. But I can tel the difference between engines. I thought I heard that bus on the /28 passing on Venness and Boundary and I think I've ridden on one that was on the 028, too. But I can't remember. Lol. Do you actually like those D60 Lfs on the 135É I don't. I would prefer the older ones! lol! and you could be right about the 28. :)
tell that to translink, i think they're giving richmond most of the 1995- 99 d40's . man that suck! but i live in burnaby and burnaby is going to be an all novabus center, so we getting the nova hevs ^_^but i do not know about the de60lfr's, probably gonna split the order with burnaby and richmond since they opperate the b-line routes, so you guys might get some grey buses after all
I wish they bring the new gray translink transit buses in Richmond. Richmond is the only city with most of the old white buses. I also live in Richmond and I think it is time that the new gray translink buses make a move to Richmond. I hate riding the white buses sometimes I they put black tape on the seat and it kindna stick on my pants
TheCRTman The only times these sounded great, was when they were brand new. I believe this was filmed just when they were being put into service, along with the C40LFR's and E40LFR's. Oh and in the beginning you can see the back end of one of our C40LF's parked in front of this bus.
Ninja Bus Fan Wow this actually sounds pretty nice for a Cummins ISL. It must have been the Allison that made it sound like that, since ISL/ZF combos are fairly lame and ISL/Voith combos work well, but just sound a little weird IMO. Oh yeah, I saw them.
TheCRTman Yea, now they sound like shit. They don't have that nice whine anymore and they sound rough and tough :/ It is, the B400R-6 is probably the reason why they sound pretty smooth and I don't like the sound of those other combination. Yea, you saw the C40LFR when it was brand new and the C40LF at 8 years old.
Ninja Bus Fan Wow that sucks. Just boring crap now. :/ Yeah ISL's only sound okay with Allisons (like SamTrans' 2002 NABI artics). Yeah SamTrans' Gillig BRTrashes are all ISL/Voith and the new ones ISL9/Voith. YUCK. Yeah the C40LF would have been young then.
TheCRTman Yea, I'll try getting a recording of them but dont count on it since I hate riding them. Yea, anything else it'll sound like shit. Eww, that's nasty. Yea, plus at that time they were just put back into service from being out of service for about 5 years for costing to much to maintain.
Ninja Bus Fan Haha, yeah I understand. Exactly, the ISL is not the best engine. Yeah they suck. I forgot all about that! Those things were barely used!
Man both the D40LFR and the C40LF sound beast.
I love the way this drivetrain sounds when it switches into 3rd and 4th gear.
Nope, all of them are allocated in Surrey, Richmond is only 301 have those, but 301 is using the buses from Surrey~~
I miss the D40LFRs in Burnaby.
At least you guys got de60lfr that has Alison
Definitely weird (but oddly nice) to see the D40LFR’s in Burnaby & Coquitlam lol

Very nice! That Cummins ISL power is even sweeter mated to a 6 speed Allison. About what speed does it get into 6th and governed top speed is?

from what i heard i think the lights indicate where the passengers are and how many are on the bus so the driver knows
The Cummins ISL engine in this bus sounds real quiet and smooth. Buts thats the whole purpose for Cummins engines
No, all of the GM Fishbowls are already out of the passenger service, just only 1 TDH4521 for Training Buses
is Richmond gonna have any of these billmf?

Is this bus running on compressed natural gas?
did any one notice the the secend bus at the start of the video is missing a head light?

I guess it's around 80-90 km/h~~
THESE D40LFRS are now 10 years old

C40LFRs run on CNG, hence the C. This a D40LFR, which runs on diesel.
Sure! But it's not missing! It is simply burned out and not working.
The bus sounds nice, But I like to take the skytrain!:D
Awsome!
If Surrey stole these New flyer buses from Burnaby why dont Richmond steal it from Surrey. I love these new gray buses
I like the part between 0 :31 - 0:39.
Right. I get it now.
It blocks the headlights.
But why?
so richmond is never gonna have any of these buses or nova buses? cause im getting pretty sick of the old ones
tell that to translink, i think they're giving richmond most of the 1995- 99 d40's . man that suck! but i live in burnaby and burnaby is going to be an all novabus center, so we getting the nova hevs ^_^but i do not know about the de60lfr's, probably gonna split the order with burnaby and richmond since they opperate the b-line routes, so you guys might get some grey buses after all
