@@mrclark2230 Yes you can. Niacinamide can be used in conjunction with retinoids, sunscreens, hydroxy acids(AHA+BHA), and other ingredients without concern for cross-reactivity.
I love how you interact with your subscribers. You're so kind and knowledgeable. I've learned a great deal from watching your videos. I feel more confident that I will be able to find a skincare routine that works for me.
"No need to wash it off".. this really helps beginners to understand skincare products and usage. This is so informative. Never knew glycolic acid toner can be used before retinol. Thnk u from India
Hey! :) I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this video! This video talks about The Ordinary Granactive Retinoids, not their Retinols. There is a difference. The Ordinary Granactive Retinoids are less likely to cause sensitivity; therefore if your skin tolerates them, you can use them in the same routine. However, when it comes to The Ordinary Retinols, or Retinols with a certain %, it's best to keep them in separate routines. At least in the beginning so that your skin can adjust to them.
I've always had sensitive dry skin and I used to suffer from eczema; but lately, I have trouble with oiliness and clogged pores. This is really helpful! Thank you so much!
just searched for glycolic + niacinamide and retinol layering routine and find your video on the top of youtube channel. We are happy to follow your recommendations. Thanks for uploading so useful videos. Stay safe.
I just bought the TO Glycolic Acid Toner and retinol 0.5% before watching this video and found that my new routine is almost the same as this! I've been a long-term user of the Cetaphil gentle cleanser and TO niacinamide and they're both amazing. Thank you for giving me confidence in my new routine!!

Thank you so so much for this video! I wanted to start using The Ordinary products for my acne, but wasn't sure which products go first. You really helped me to create a simple, but (hopefully) effective skincare routine!
Hi Melissa, hope you can advise if this is correct :) AM routine 1. Cleanser 2. Inkey list PHA toner 3. TO Niacinamide 4. Moisturizer PM routine 1. Cleanser 2. TO Lactic Acid 3. TO Retinol .02 4. Moisturizer Thank you so much in advance and keep it up! HNY! 🥰
Hey :) The order of application is correct. However, if you are new to Retinol, I do not recommend using Lactic Acid and Retinol in the same routine since this can cause skin irritation. I recommend creating a second PM routine. PM 1 using only Retinol PM 2 using only Lactic Acid and alternate between them :)
I hope you know how much you’re helping us with our skincare routine 🥰 may I know what would you recommend to stop acne from recurring? Retinol or retinoid? I want to introduce it to my routine ☺️
Hey 🙂 I have had the best experience with Benzoyl Peroxide and Retinol. (ruclips.net/video/2JW1t1tXCFo/видео.html) However, it only keeps it under control, but I still have the hormonal outbreaks on my chin. The Ordinary does not offer a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment. You can either look at your local Pharmacy or Paula's Choice offers them in some countries. The Ordinary Retinoids may work great as well, however I haven't tested it for acne yet. 😞
this was very informative! i will stick to this one instead of adding Alpha Arbutine. will start with the glycolic toner after cleansing> Niacinamide > granactive 2% in emulsion> oil + moisturizer thanks again 🙏🏼
Can i use this routine like that!!! 1- cleanser 2- Alpha Arbutin 3-niacinamaid 4- Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 5-Granactive 5% in Squalane 6-Azelaic acid 7- Moisturizer Please answer me🙏🏻 and if there is any wrong tell me .. thank you ❤️
Hey! :) Using those products all at once may be a bit too much and can feel uncomfortable...I recommend using them like this: AM Routine Daily: - Cleanse - Alpha Arbutin - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate - (Optional) Moisturizer - SPF PM 1 Routine: - Cleanse - Niacinamide - Granactive Retinoid - (Optional) Moisturizer PM 2 Routine: - Cleanse - Niacinamide - (Optional) Moisturizer - Azelaic Acid I recommend alternating between your PM 1 and 2 Routine to avoid skin irritation and an uncomfortable feeling :) Hope this helps :)
Hi Melissa! Thank you for your really informational videos! I watched your video on using niacinamide and hyaluronic acid together, but I also have a retinoid serum and was wondering how I should combine them in my akin care routine? Can I use all three at night, or should I for example use the hyaluronic acid in the morning and the others a night? Thanks for the help! 💖
Hey, thank you🥰 You can use Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in the morning, but the for the evening I recommend using Hyaluronic Acid and your Retinoid Serum together😊 But you can also use all three in your PM - Personally, I prefer using Niacinamide only once per day😊
I have the ordinary Retinol 0.5 with Squalane but I haven't opened it yet. It's been a few weeks and I just been so nervous to try it. And wasn't sure if I should apply moisturizer first and then after. But after seeing this video I feel confident enough to try it tonight.
Hey😊 thank you for watching! I'm happy to hear that you learned a lot and I hope that you'll be able to create a great skincare routine for your skin needs to see beautiful improvements!🥰 Don't hesitate to ask questions!
Great video! thank you so much for all these information. I have been thinking about ordering the Ordinary in a long time but have never been to sure how to use it properly. Just a quick question: If I use Niacinamide and Retionol in the evening the way you described it, can I use a normal Vitamin C Serum in the morning? I know you mentioned that I shouldn't use Niacinamide together with Vitamin C but I assume you mean in one session if that makes sense? Looking forward to your reply =)
Hi Melissa, can I used argireline with niacinamide and retinoids in the same routine, and if I can used it which one to put on first, Happy New Year to you and hopefully you answer my questions Have a good day

I asked The ordinary about this a while ago, and they told me that this way, you can make sure that it stays as potent as possible over the three months after opening. But it may be not that important as long as you are storing it in a cool, dry, dark place.
Hey Melissa! I usually use just hyaluronic acid serum and retinol cream at night, but just bought the Ordinary niacinimide serum you used in the video. Is it okay to apply them together and if so... which product should I apply first? I love your videos btw❤❤❤
Hey! :) Have a look at the video below: Difference Between Retinol Granactive Retinoid and Tretinoin: ruclips.net/video/MK577R3pdG4/видео.html Still, I always recommend keeping your exfoliating acids and retinol, retinal or retinoids, in separate routines, especially in the beginning. Once your skin gets used to the treatments, you may be able to use them in the same routine. Still, I wouldn't do it with Retinoid (Tretinoin).

Hey :) You can use Niacinamide and Retinol in the same routine, this works well! You can also use Niacinamide, Retinol and Azelaic Acid in the same routine, if your skin can tolerate it! - Otherwise use them on alternate days. However, are you new to Retinol? Do you use Retinol for the first time or have you already used other Retinol products in the past? If you are new to the Ordinary Retinol 1% (which is the highest strength), I recommend watching the video below: How To Use The Ordinary Retinol: ruclips.net/video/W-siXbrGhx0/видео.html It is important that you are going to introduce your Retinol product properly into your skincare routine! :)
Yes, I can help you with the information so that you can setup your own routine: 1)AHA + BHA peeling solutions (Mask Video:ruclips.net/video/wSY0pYcy8KY/видео.html) 2)Glycolic acid (Water-Based Exfoliant) 3)Lactic acid (Water-Based Exfoliant) 4)Niacinamide+zinc (Water Based Serum) 5)Retinol 2% (Anhydrous Solution) 6)Moisturiser (cream or lotion) The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ruclips.net/video/r04W7rQV1R0/видео.html) "Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html) If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. Hello, There's too much in your skincare routine, and some products may conflict with each other. My advice would be to adjust it as follows: AM: Velvet Cloud Skin Proud. Pat the skin dry. VITA-C Dark Spot Sun Serum from Goodal. Beauty of Joseon SPF. PM 1 (2-3 times a week): Cleanse your face with a gentle non-exfoliating acid cleanser. Pat the skin dry. Glycolic Acid Toner Eye cream Moisturizer. PM 2 (3 times a week): Cleanse your face with a gentle non-exfoliating acid cleanser. Pat the skin dry. (Optional) Niacinamide. Retinol. (Optional) Moisturizer (depending on the retinol formulation and strength; if you're using The Ordinary retinol, it may not be needed). I hope this helps!

@@moonenhypink I mean, there are multiple options, and this is just one that I think could potentially work well without overwhelming the skin. However, the products that often cause the most sensitivities are retinol and AHA/BHA, or, generally speaking, exfoliating acids. But yes, you can also use AHA or BHA with Niacinamide without any issues. The problem usually arises at very high concentrations, as both may irritate the skin. And yes, of course, you can use cleanser, toner, niacinamide, eye cream, and moisturizer for your evening skincare routine.

I am not sure, are you using the Glycolic Acid when not using the Peeling solution, or are you using them in the same routine? If you use them in the same routine, please stop. @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet usually if I use the peeling solution I don’t use any other products, just moisturizer after 🤗 should I put niacinamide and hyaluronic acid first since they’re both water based then retinol or is it best to do only one?
@@kemisant1218 Okay 😀 That's the question. Test to see what works best. But you have to apply water-based serums first. Hello im just starting to get into skin care, my question is i bought Ordinary niacinimide 10% + zinc1% Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG And as for my cleanser its a cetaphil In what order should I use this and how often and which one would be in the day and in the night, and also why they are used in the night only or in the day. My suggestion for using the products would be as follows: AM Routine: Cleanse your face. Gently pat your skin dry. Apply Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG. Follow with niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%. If you have outdoor activities, remember to use sunscreen. PM Routine: Cleanse your face. Gently pat your skin dry. Apply Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion. That's it!
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet do also need to put a moisturizer after the niacinamide and the retinoid? Do i have to store the retinoid i. The fridge? @@TheDantes12345 Ah, yes! Remember to store the retinoid in the fridge after opening. The rest of the products can be stored at room temperature, unless you live in a very hot climate with temperatures constantly above 25 degrees Celsius and no air conditioning. In that case, you can also refrigerate the caffeine solution and niacinamide. Additionally, there is no need to apply additional moisturizer afterward. If the treatments cause excessive dryness, you may consider adding moisturizer, but generally, it should be fine. Feel free to adjust the routine according to your needs. Finally, you can simply blend it into your face and neck if desired.

Hello I love your video!! Can I use glycolic acid with retinol 0.2% in sqalane, niacinamide and hyaluraunic acid in the same routine in the evening? Thank you in advance!!
t's low strength, so there shouldn't be an issue. But be careful when using higher strength of Retinol. If you do so, either keep Glycolic Acid and Retinol separate or use Granactive Retinoid 2% or 5% since otherwise, it may irritate your skin.

Hello! I bought these two products and I will mix it together. I also did buy Lactic Acid, and I have Vitamin C (from La Roche Posay) and some other really gentle serum; how do you recommend applying the Lactic Acid? Only in some days, as the only serum? Thank you!
It makes sense to use it before Vitamin C; however, it may be a bit too much for some skin types. So, therefore, you may be better off using it on its own. Also, sometimes it can make the skin dry; if that's the case, add hydration afterwards or a light moisturizer that's suitable for your skin type.
You can use them on alternate days, or Niacinamide in the AM and Retinol in the PM. However, you can also use them in the same routine. Test the different possibilities to see what will work best for you :)
The one in Emulsion. However, I have had the best results with another brand when it comes to the retinol, I am currently using the La Roche Posay Redermic Retinol cream, and so far, I have seen better results! But to be fair, I haven't tried the Retinoids in Squalane not intensively, but they tend to feel a bit oily when combining it with other serums.
Niacinamide can be used daily in the morning and evening, however if you're new to Niacinamide I recommend using it once per day for a week or so until your skin gets used to it and then use it twice per day if you like to😊 With Retinoids, if you are new to them, I recommend starting with the lowest strength available then use it once - wait 3-4 days and if no irritation occurred use can start off with 2-3 times per week for a while and then add the days until your skin has developed the tolerance to use it daily. Please, keep in mind that not everyonoe's skin is the same, some people can use it daily other ones prefer to use it only a few times per week, see what works best for you😊
Hi Melissa, I'm a 15-year-old struggling with acne and your videos are so helpful! Can I also use Retinoids/ Retnols on my face? Or should I wait until I'm older? Thank you so much ❤️
Hey! Do you still have active acne? If so, I recommend looking for a specific acne treatment online or from a pharmacy/a doctor to treat your acne! The Ordinary doesn't "sell" their Retinoids and Retinols as an acne treatment. It also says this on their website: "This product is not a treatment for acne. Acne-prone skin may experience a temporary increase in acne during the first few weeks of using any form of retinoid including those used in this formulation."
Love your video.. I'm using the hyaluronic acid then granactive acid in the pm.,is that correct?.....I also use niacinamide then hyaluronic acid...is that correct ? I also have the vitamin c squalene but don't know how to incorporate it in the regime...please advise..thanks
Hey :) Thank you! Yes, you can use Hyaluronic Acid and Granactive Retinoid in on routine (PM) and Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in one routine (AM and/or PM). What Vitamin C product do you have? This way I can look it up! :)
Hello Melissa! I am back with more questions! I have a combination of PIH AND PIE scars. I currently have multiple products. Sa cleanser from cerave, panoxyl (10%BP), cerave acne cream cleanser ( 4%bp), hyaluronic acid from the ordinary, niacinamide from the ordinary, and the retinol .5% in squalene from the ordinary, azelaic acid suspension cream, and the AHA AND BHA chemical peel from the ordinary. How should i layer these products? I have suffered from severe acne. I recently havent been breaking out. And am just struggling to get the PIE and PIH scars off my face ( i do not have active acne anymore) What would u suggest my morning routine and nigh-time routine should be? Ofc i do use spf in the morning. And i use the peel 1-2 times a week. I have combination skins but more on the oily side.
Hey! If you do not suffer from active acne anymore, I recommend switching to a gentle cleanser! Such as The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, Cerave Foaming Cleanser or Cetaphil Daily Facial or Oily Skin Cleanser. Only use the Benzoyl Peroxide Face Wash if needed. Either the one from Cerave or Panoxyl Use Gentle Cleanser or BP Cleanser, then Hyaluronic Acid and Azelaic Acid, SPF in the AM. And use Gentle Cleanser or BP Cleanser, Niacinamide and Retinol in the PM. When using the Peeling Solution in the PM, use a gentle cleanser, the Peeling Solution and Hyaluronic Acid after that. You may want to add a Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) Serum or Tranexamic Acid serum to your AM routine after Hyaluronic Acid.
Hey Melissa! Is it okay to use a benzoylperoxide based cleanser before using the niacinamide and retinoids? As far as I know, you shouldn't mix a benzoylperoxide cream or gel neither with retinoids or vitamin c (which I use in the mornings) so I am struggling a bit to incorporate it into my routine. Thanks!
Hello 😀 There is no "real" research about Vitamin C; it's just assumed that it may oxidise it but that only counts for pure Vitamin C ascorbic acid. But I have never had any issues while doing this, maybe if you use a leave-on solution or even mix it in the palm of your hand, so that it has a long time to interact with it, but at the same time, the formulation is essential. And with the Retinoids, it depends. There is research showing that it makes Tretinoin less effective; however, at the same time, it can help to fight the free radicals that benzoyl peroxide is causing. (Some say they are different, but I couldn't find anything related to this!) Therefore you can find even some formulations with retinol/retinoid and benzoyl peroxide combined. So this is really not clear to me. But from my experience, using a Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser followed with a Retinol or Adapalene works exceptionally well! :) And with Niacinamide, there is no issue.
Hey Melissa am your new subscriber here 👋 Finally i found a channel which is straight to the point, show me how to use it, and really informative, so thank you :)) I have a question tho, My moisturiser (rovectin lotus water cream) has niacinamide in it, can i use it with niacinamide 10% +zinc and retinol as my PM routine or is it too much niacinamide? Hi Melissa, I follow this sequence for my PM routine . Thanks for this. In this routine canwe use Ethylene Glycol based moisturizer after applying Granactive Retinoid. I m not sure if that would conflict with Granactive
You can try them, yes :) But if you have acne-prone skin, I recommend using a light fluid for example La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluid. But first, test it and see how you go.
Yes, this can work. How often you can use your Retinol depends on the products that you are using + % and if you are new to Retinol or not. What Retinol do you use?
Hi, thanks for the very informative video! ❤️ I just have one question: do I have to keep the retinol in the fridge after I open it for the first time? I’ve seen some people saying that you should but I’m still not sure :/
Hello dear Melli , 1) can Nicenamide be applied on damp skin? 2) can Nicenamide be applied under eyes? 3) wat should be the application other of the following: Nicenamide, Vitamin C 12% derivative, glycolic acid toner
Yes, you can apply it to damp skin just do not confuse it with wet skin (some influencers do) And yes, you can use it under the eyes. Here is a demo: Should I apply Niacinamide on Damp Skin ruclips.net/video/4nKVEB25hd4/видео.html The order would be: Cleanser Glycolic Acid Toner Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution Niacinamide
Hello, I’m currently using The Ordinary Niacinamide for a week now and I’m loving it. I’m planning to add The Ordinary Retinol .5% and The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid in my skin regime. How to layer these 3 serums in a skin routine?
Hey, 😀I recommend using The Ordinary Granactive Retinoids, you will have the same effect but less irritation. Also, it's recommended to start with the lowest available dose if you have oily skin go The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid in Emulsion. Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide Granactive Retinoid If you want to know more about it you can watch the following video: How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: ruclips.net/video/png_aAg5B0A/видео.html

It will he a huge help...
I have the perfect video for you 🙂 The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html If you still need help or want me to check the routine, you can post it underneath.
Do you already use Glycolic Acid in the evening? Also, do you use a Retinol, Retinoid or Granactive Retinoid along with it? :) And how often do you use those products during the week?
I have very bad dark circles on my eyelids and under eyes which products should I use? Also should we wash our face with the mild cleanser when we are going out under the sun in the morning since we use the retinol at night
Hm, if they are very bad, it may be caused by something else. Is it common in your family? If not, it may be best to ask a professional about this to really treat them. :) Generally speaking, you should wash the face in the morning before applying your sunscreen to protect your skin during the day. However, there is technically no need to use it the day after anymore to affect the retinoid.
You can use them together, and it can help with acne, however, you may want to include a cleanser or leave-on exfoliator that includes BHA (Salicylic acid) and/or AHA (Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid).
That's a high strength for someone that's new to Retinol - may I ask why did you get the one with 1%?😅 I recommend using them all separate before using them together! - to avoid skin irritation. For example: AM - Niacinamide PM 1 (1-3 times per week) - Lactic Acid PM 2 (1-3 times per week) - Retinol This way, your skin can get used to it and build up the skin tolerance to be able to use them together. Hope that makes sense🤔😊
Are you new to Glycolic Acid and/or your Retinol? If so, I recommend keeping your Glycolic Acid and Retinol separate in the beginning to avoid irritation. PM 1 Routine: - Cleanser - Glycolic Acid Toner - Alpha Arbutin - Niacinamide - Moisturiser PM 2 Routine: - Cleanser - Alpha Arbutin - Niacinamide - Retinol - Moisturiser PM 3 Routine: - Cleanser - Alpha Arbutin - Niacinamide - Moisturiser Alternate between your PM 1 and PM 2 and do PM 3 when not using your Retinol or Glycolic Acid. Also, have a look at the video below: How To Use The Ordinary Retinol: ruclips.net/video/W-siXbrGhx0/видео.html Hope this helps :)
Hi Melissa, I am currently using the balance set. So does same rule apply? Squalane cleanser+Retinol+moisturizer in the PM?? Then Squalane+Niacinamide+moisturizer int the AM?
Could I apply an Azelaic acid cream next to Retinoid? Could I add Hyaluroic acid between Niacinamide and Retinoid or is it better to firstly apply Niacinamide ? Like Niacinamide + Hyaluroic Acid + Retinoid + Azelaic acid cream + Moisturize cream?
You can, however, the formulations do not go well with each other, and it often tends to pill. Therefore, I do not recommend using the ordinary retinoids/retinol and The Ordinary Azelaic Acid in the same routine. It works best when using them at different times or even different days :)
The gentlest of them all (from the Ordinary) is the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion or if you want to use a Retinol, the Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane. Always start with the lowest % available😊
Thank you so much for making this video, I really appreciate your efforts, can you guide me little bit more, I am using the ordinary products, niacinamide, lactic acid and the retinol 0.2 %, I usually use these products in this sequence, First in the morning I use niacinamide and moisturizer and in the evening or before sleeping I use lactic acid after applying lactic acid I used niacinamide and in the last retinol 0.2% ,so I just need to confirm it is the right sequence?
Keep Lactic Acid and Retinol in separate routines. Create 2 PM routines and alternate between them. I recommend watching the videos below: How to use The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% or 10% + HA: ruclips.net/video/xbHTGI7XQ1k/видео.html How to use The Ordinary Retinol 0,2% in Squalane: ruclips.net/video/AbAuQ0o9Y7M/видео.html
Hello :) Lactic Acid = AHA Mandelic Acid = AHA So they have similar benefits. Therefore, using them in the same routine is not very beneficial and often just leads to more sensitivity. But you can use Alpha Arbutin after Lactic Acid or before Mandelic Acid. The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html

Hey! :)
I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this video!

Hey :)
The order of application is correct.

i have a question, is it really necessary to refrigerate the ordinary retinol?
I asked The ordinary about this a while ago, and they told me that this way, you can make sure that it stays as potent as possible over the three months after opening. But it may be not that important as long as you are storing it in a cool, dry, dark place.

Hey! :)
Have a look at the video below:
Difference Between Retinol Granactive Retinoid and Tretinoin: ruclips.net/video/MK577R3pdG4/видео.html
Still, I always recommend keeping your exfoliating acids and retinol, retinal or retinoids, in separate routines, especially in the beginning. Once your skin gets used to the treatments, you may be able to use them in the same routine. Still, I wouldn't do it with Retinoid (Tretinoin).
1.Cleanser
2.Niacinamide + zinc the ordinary
3.Retinol 1% squalane the ordinary
4.Azelaic Acide suspension 10% the ordinary
5.Moisturizer

You can use Niacinamide and Retinol in the same routine, this works well! You can also use Niacinamide, Retinol and Azelaic Acid in the same routine, if your skin can tolerate it! - Otherwise use them on alternate days.
However, are you new to Retinol? Do you use Retinol for the first time or have you already used other Retinol products in the past?

Can you please help me
1)AHA + BHA peeling solutions
2)Glycolic acid
3)Lactic acid
4)Niacinamide+zinc
5)Retinol 2%
6)Moisturiser
Yes, I can help you with the information so that you can setup your own routine:
1)AHA + BHA peeling solutions (Mask Video:ruclips.net/video/wSY0pYcy8KY/видео.html)
2)Glycolic acid (Water-Based Exfoliant)
3)Lactic acid (Water-Based Exfoliant)
4)Niacinamide+zinc (Water Based Serum)
5)Retinol 2% (Anhydrous Solution)
6)Moisturiser (cream or lotion)
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ruclips.net/video/r04W7rQV1R0/видео.html)
"Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html)
If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.

AM:
Velvet Cloud Skin Proud.
Pat the skin dry.
VITA-C Dark Spot Sun Serum from Goodal.
Beauty of Joseon SPF.
PM 1 (2-3 times a week):
Cleanse your face with a gentle non-exfoliating acid cleanser.
Pat the skin dry.
Glycolic Acid Toner
Eye cream
Moisturizer.
PM 2 (3 times a week):
Cleanse your face with a gentle non-exfoliating acid cleanser.
Pat the skin dry.

I am not sure, are you using the Glycolic Acid when not using the Peeling solution, or are you using them in the same routine? If you use them in the same routine, please stop. You can use the retinol when not using the peeling solution. Also, I do not recommend using Retinol with Glycolic Acid.
Usually, Hyaluronic Acid goes first since it increases the absorption of the products that follow. But I did it the other way around as well. Personally, I can't tell any difference... But maybe when you use it for years... :)
Hi Melissa, I just came across your video and I’ve got a question, can I use Niacinamide cleanser, Zinc serum and Retinol? Thank you
Yes you can!
How to layer Niacinamide and Retinol:

Hello im just starting to get into skin care, my question is i bought
Ordinary niacinimide 10% + zinc1%
Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion
Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG
And as for my cleanser its a cetaphil
In what order should I use this and how often and which one would be in the day and in the night, and also why they are used in the night only or in the day.
Completely new to this before I literally just wash my face with cetaphil and add some moisturizer also cetaphil and thats it
My suggestion for using the products would be as follows:
AM Routine:
Cleanse your face.
Gently pat your skin dry.
Apply Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG.
Follow with niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%.
If you have outdoor activities, remember to use sunscreen.
PM Routine:
Cleanse your face.
Gently pat your skin dry.
Apply Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion.
That's it!
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet do also need to put a moisturizer after the niacinamide and the retinoid?
Do i have to store the retinoid i. The fridge? How about the caffeine and the niacinamide, do they also need to be put in the fridge?
Do i pat the niacinamide and retinoid not rub? Do i also need to get some on my neck?
Thank you so SO much for your videos! I hope this routine will work out well for my skin💕 I have never used retinoid before and I wonder, will u recommend the buffet solution or the granactive retinoid? Thxxx
Hey :) Buffet are peptides. But I recommend using the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion. The one in Squalane feels extremely oily 😞 If you want to use a Retinol. I recommend going with Paula's Choice Clinical 0,3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment.

Yes, that's fine. Just do not overdo it with Glycolic Acid. Start with 2-3 times per week and adjust the frequency according to your skin's response.

Which one would you recommend for post inflammatory erythema/oily acne prone skin, The Ordinary Retinol in Squalene or the one in Emulsion form?
The one in Emulsion.
However, I have had the best results with another brand when it comes to the retinol, I am currently using the La Roche Posay Redermic Retinol cream, and so far, I have seen better results!
But to be fair, I haven't tried the Retinoids in Squalane not intensively, but they tend to feel a bit oily when combining it with other serums.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much! Your videos are a huuuge help!

Niacinamide can be used daily in the morning and evening, however if you're new to Niacinamide I recommend using it once per day for a week or so until your skin gets used to it and then use it twice per day if you like to😊
With Retinoids, if you are new to them, I recommend starting with the lowest strength available then use it once - wait 3-4 days and if no irritation occurred use can start off with 2-3 times per week for a while and then add the days until your skin has developed the tolerance to use it daily.
It also says this on their website:
"This product is not a treatment for acne. Acne-prone skin may experience a temporary increase in acne during the first few weeks of using any form of retinoid including those used in this formulation."

Either the one from Cerave or Panoxyl
Use Gentle Cleanser or BP Cleanser, then Hyaluronic Acid and Azelaic Acid, SPF in the AM.

Thanks!
Hello 😀
There is no "real" research about Vitamin C; it's just assumed that it may oxidise it but that only counts for pure Vitamin C ascorbic acid.

That's a high strength for someone that's new to Retinol - may I ask why did you get the one with 1%?😅
I recommend using them all separate before using them together! - to avoid skin irritation.
For example:
AM - Niacinamide
PM 1 (1-3 times per week) - Lactic Acid

This way, your skin can get used to it and build up the skin tolerance to be able to use them together.

Hello :) Yes, it does!
Which retinol serum best for acne and sensitive skin?????
The gentlest of them all (from the Ordinary) is the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Emulsion or if you want to use a Retinol, the Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane.
Always start with the lowest % available😊
