This film is of particular interest to me. I grew up in Butte, in a family of miners. My grandfather arrived in 1917 from The Isle of Man, and spent the rest of his working years in the Butte mines. I had uncles and cousins, and my stepdad all working in the mines. My stepdad was injured in a mine, and after he healed, the company put him to work on a surface job at the concentrator, until he retired. Right after he retired, the mines were shut down and allowed to flood, which was the reason the Berkley pit filled with water.
