as an australian celtic and melbourne victory fan with a massive passion for the national team, im optimistic he’ll be able to bring his own style who’ll pull no punches if allowed time to sort his own squad out, has the longest un defeated (36 games) run in any professional sport in australia as well, in salary cap league aswell which generally evens things out.
I'm re-visiting this on 21 August 2021. I'm a Melbourne Victory member and Celtic fan since the 1980's and it's fun to see how Ange has wowed the Glaswegians and the whole of Scotland. Let's hope he gets a few trophies in this and the coming seasons.

Ange has had excellent success with average players. If the Celtic players are any good, and prepared to attack and defend with equal fearlessness, want to control the ball, and win it back when they lose it, they will be a force again. Ange is grumpy and no nonsense and plays an exciting assertive style. Think Manchester City as far as style goes. He has balls and will not care about players egos, just their commitment to playing the way he wants them to play. Ange is a winner by nature. But if he decides he needs to he will turn the team inside out to begin with to get what he wants. So don’t expect it to happen his way in three or four weeks.
I genuinely think the fact that Peter Lawells home was bombed a few days before this announcement may have spooked a few of the coaches coming up from sleepy Bournemouth. These guys are used to being able to walk about town, go for a pint at the weekend. If I was a coach or member of one of their families looking at not just celtic, but Glasgow over the last fortnight, I'd probably have second thoughts as well.

He brought in a dozen or so new players that all made an impact, he then proceeded to win the premiership after the team finished 25 points behind sevco the previous year. It was also his first foray into Europe as a manager at one of the world's biggest clubs. The man is a messiah plain and simple.

Being a local fan of Melbourne Victory he's pretty cool, managing in the a-league is difficult as they have salary caps and limitations on squad lists, meaning you need to be very tactical as you can't always just add more expensive players or add to the squad to fill gaps

You guys really need to get a bit more informed about Ange's managing career. He took over my local A-league team Brisbane Roar and implemented a beautiful style of play in a league that was absolute shite. His players believed in his playing style and had a 36 game unbeaten run and won our first two titles. He bought fans back to the stadium as we played amazing football. Ange had always achieved what he's set out to do. It's very hard for a foreign manager to manage in the J-league. He went there and took a relegation threatened team to their first title in his second season there. If you fully back him and his style and give him some time he will succeed. Something tells me your fickle supporters won't and will fight him all the way!
What career A league WTF that? Scottish league is crap but J and A league pointless barely step up from pub football. All the duds from our league finished their careers in the top flight of the Australian League. Simply has no credentials to manage Celtic except he's available and probably desperate to bow down before Desmond. If fickle means not accepting any old crap then yes I am fickle. Howe was never serious about going to Celtic, he was hedging his bets the whole time and as soon as the Everton job came open he bailed to put himself out there as a candidate, Celtic are too big a club to be fooked around like that and it’s hugely unlikely that Howe would ever be welcome at Parkhead even as a paying spectator after that gamesmanship. Ange looks the real deal, Japanese soccer is of a very high standard and many of the top teams would easily give Rangers or Celtic a run for their money , it’s wrong to write him off because he has no European experience as he’s already proved he has the technical expertise to manage quality teams.

He has won titles in two leagues ranked similar to ours and at international level. He has a better cv than Lennon did. Not for one second saying he will be a success but he is hardly a complete nobody. Unfortunately any manager who comes in will only come in with Lawwell / McKay forcing Strachan and Kennedy on hin.

I would say that almost to a man, we Celtic fans can't believe how much we lucked out by Howe being a bottler. I said in a comment on this video a couple of months ago, Ange is the best thing that could have happened to us. Sorry, but celtic knew from the beginning with howe. They stringed the fans along as they knew that 98 percent of the fans had their heart set on Eddie howe. So made sure they got what they want by fans renewing their season tickets.

The problem is with Ange potentially taking over, it'll take him at least a season to get things to his liking. Would it be too much for the club to give a detailed explanation to the fans how the EH appointment fell through after 3 months of waiting for a manager after Lennon's exit. The statement from the club to me makes little sense and there has to be more to it than they are letting on. Board have proven time and again they have little inclusion for Fans or Supporters. What that suggests also is that whether they gave failed or not they know fine well the Supporters will still back the club irrespective of what's gone before. Last decade: Celtic- 9 league titles, 4 quadruple trebles, 18 majors trophies. Rangers- died, 1 league title-when literally no supporters got to attend a single match, fans smashed their city and each other while ‘celebrating’ it. Some of the most embarrassing results in football history. Celtic had one poor season- rangers had a humiliating decade.

Rangers returned to the top flight in 2016/17 and Celtic then won 12 consecutive domestic trophies in a row. So the "glory days" were very much when Rangers were in the the same league as Celtic. Steven Gerrard has won 1 in 9 trophies as Rangers manager. A first real trophy since 2011. Despite dominance in the league this season you never managed to get past a quarter final in a domestic cup. Defeats to Aberdeen (twice), Celtic, Hearts, St Mirren and St Johnstone during Slippy G's tenure. Overall, not a great record.

Its logical how Celtic need to proceed. I really don't understand how the club doesn't understand this. The current football financial market has left Scotland behind because they failed to build on European success at the time. We can't afford top 5 players or even top 5 flops on permanent deals. Only way out is buying youth! There are countless young players who just need ignited and motivated but Celtic don't even sustain their own youth. The standard for a successful club in a non-competitive league is Ajax. They've made well over 200 million euros in sales and are still producing more talent, after their UCL journey to the SF. There is absolutely no excuse for Celtic's underperformance.
Just had to look at this again after Celtic have been crowned champions last night. I have a fair idea that the football world (and Alan Brazil) know who Ange Postecoglou is now.

You guys really need to get a bit more informed about Ange's managing career. He took over my local A-league team Brisbane Roar and implemented a beautiful style of play in a league that was absolute shite. His players believed in his playing style and had a 36 game unbeaten run and won our first two titles. He bought fans back to the stadium as we played amazing football. Ange had always achieved what he's set out to do. It's very hard for a foreign manager to manage in the J-league. He went there and took a relegation threatened team to their first title in his second season there. If you fully back him and his style and give him some time he will succeed. Something tells me your fickle supporters won't and will fight him all the way!
What career A league WTF that? Scottish league is crap but J and A league pointless barely step up from pub football. All the duds from our league finished their careers in the top flight of the Australian League. Simply has no credentials to manage Celtic except he's available and probably desperate to bow down before Desmond. If fickle means not accepting any old crap then yes I am fickle. Howe was never serious about going to Celtic, he was hedging his bets the whole time and as soon as the Everton job came open he bailed to put himself out there as a candidate, Celtic are too big a club to be fooked around like that and it’s hugely unlikely that Howe would ever be welcome at Parkhead even as a paying spectator after that gamesmanship.
Ange looks the real deal, Japanese soccer is of a very high standard and many of the top teams would easily give Rangers or Celtic a run for their money , it’s wrong to write him off because he has no European experience as he’s already proved he has the technical expertise to manage quality teams.

Board have proven time and again they have little inclusion for Fans or Supporters. What that suggests also is that whether they gave failed or not they know fine well the Supporters will still back the club irrespective of what's gone before. Rangers- died, 1 league title-when literally no supporters got to attend a single match, fans smashed their city and each other while ‘celebrating’ it. Some of the most embarrassing results in football history.

Steven Gerrard has won 1 in 9 trophies as Rangers manager. A first real trophy since 2011. Despite dominance in the league this season you never managed to get past a quarter final in a domestic cup. Defeats to Aberdeen (twice), Celtic, Hearts, St Mirren and St Johnstone during Slippy G's tenure. Overall, not a great record.

Howe showed a total lack of respect for Celtic football club - selfish for using our club like this. He should be ashamed of what he has just done.
Its logical how Celtic need to proceed. I really don't understand how the club doesn't understand this. The current football financial market has left Scotland behind because they failed to build on European success at the time. We can't afford top 5 players or even top 5 flops on permanent deals. Only way out is buying youth! There are countless young players who just need ignited and motivated but Celtic don't even sustain their own youth. The standard for a successful club in a non-competitive league is Ajax. They've made well over 200 million euros in sales and are still producing more talent, after their UCL journey to the SF. There is absolutely no excuse for Celtic's underperformance.
