Great fabric haul, I look forward to seeing your makes... It was kind of you to share a bit about your life and lovely to see your joy when you spoke about the time you have spent with your family 🙂
Yesss! Excited that you're going for it with the bathing suits. Glad to hear that you got to spend time with your brother. It's not so easy to find the time as an adult, but it's always wonderful when we do. I think that skirt will be really cute on you and be such a great staple in your wardrobe.
Thanks, Theresa! It isn't always easy to find or make the time to visit with siblings as adults beyond major holidays or life events,, but it was such a nice time. ❤️
Thank you for your lovely video! The swimsuit fabric is beautiful! After binge watching your videos, I've noticed that you really light up when you make something in bright, colorful fabric. It seems like you're always surprised how much you like it. Those colors look beautiful on you! Glad you enjoyed yourself at the spa and had family time ❤️
Thank you! I do love colour. I guess I'm always surprised because I often default to black and grey. My pre-covid work wardrobe was very dull! Thank you for watching :)
Sounds like great sewing plans and a lovely time with family! I have made 4 pair of the Mountain View jeans and love them. I significantly narrowed the leg but the top of pants, waistband, yoke etc is awesome.
Thankyou for this, I never thought if misthreading my machines to increase my knowledge if this went wrong with the stitches in my garments. Amazing. Thankyou again x
Hi Megan, same with me....such a long week! Totally with you - one minute I'm on a "fabric diet", the next I'm ordering fabric. I think the key, at least for me, has been learning how to be more selective in the fabrics I choose. Finally knowing what I like and what I will actually use has been the key. And definitely worse things to spend money on :) :) I'm happy to hear you got to see your family!
I agree. I think I'm getting better at buying fabric strategically, or at least with a pretty clearly defined plan. And I've certainly developed some strong preferences and dislikes, too!
My former sister-in-law had a "fabric allowance"/month. She could spend it all at the beginning of each month or she could save for sales or more expensive fabrics. At first she spent all of her " fabric allowance " immediately. Later she saved for really cool fabric. Both suited her! Love your Server samples. Happy Sewing!
Happy Family Day!🥳 We have one also. I'm retired, but for some strange reason I still enjoy a long weekend 😃 Have fun sewing. I've got 3 simple garments cut out for next week ..... I hope.
Lovely buys. And I’m just a little jealous of your family and spa time. If you continue to struggle with the differences in waist and hip measurements and the pull on skirt doesn’t hug your waist, it may be time to learn zips. I used to be completely freaked out by them…then I saw Peggy Sagers of Silhouette Patterns video… search silhouette patterns fly front. She demonstrates a factory method… eight minutes. I am now almost that fast. And you can cut scraps of fabric to practice, just like she uses for her demo. She has a great welt pocket video snip as well. I have watched her videos for a few years and am now pretty comfortable with hacking my existing patterns to get the fit and style that catches my eye…I have a bunch of different tshirt fits…started with a single pattern that I worked at, then kept tracing it onto fresh paper for a little extra ease, or different necklines shapes or depth. I use a heavy brown paper from Home Depot or even thick brown wrapping paper. I appreciate all the content and personal insights from your sewing journey - I’ve been watching a lot of your older videos lately… glad this most recent order wasn’t a sleep shop as you said you’d done once before. Best wishes on your next projects.
If you think of how much a store bought bathing suit in our sizes cost to purchase I think that allots you at least another $60 to spend in February! lol I love the Nordic Spa, my daughter bought us a trip to the one in Chelsea QC a few years ago before Covid and we absolutely loved spending a full day together with her! I can't wait for the fall when we're heading back to Ottawa to see her and spend our Christmas gift from her at the spa once again! So glad you got to spend time with your brother and sister in law on a happier occasion!
@@MeganGMakes for a good suit, I pay around $80-120 so even if it doesn't work out, you could still make 4 to 6 more tries!!!! Plus imagine if it's great. A suit for $20? Bravo!
That lilac color denim is amazing 😍 absolutely fell in love with it and am inspired to hunt for some now...there goes my "don't buy anymore fabric" right into the 🗑🤭
I loooooove my Quebec skirt. Did no alterations, just followed their sizing and it worked perfectly. Good luck with yours. I have also visitors for 3 weeks, so no sewing here either. But connecting with family and friends is so important.
I also made the Quebec Skirt and love it! The fit is amazing! I just really slowed down and took my time, especially with all the topstitching. Very pleased with how it turned out as this was my first experience with a PDF pattern. If you haven't watched Karina's review on Lifting Pins and Needles, I highly recommend you do so before you cut into your fabric. She has a very thorough tutorial which helped me a lot. Good luck with your skirt. Can't wait to see it!
Love your fabrics! I'm wanting to make a swimsuit too, but have too many other things I want to make first. Love your lavender denim; looking forward to seeing what you make. The Nordic spa sounds divine! I might have to put that on my bucket list.😊
Hi Megan. I love your swim fabric. I also was like noooo, when you showed the light side! :D I have had swim fabric for 2 years but haven't dove in yet (see what I did there?!) I really enjoyed your video very much. You know my mom also passed away at christmas and yes, it makes getting together with your siblings very special. Now I will show your get away to my sister (because she is very competitive) and hopefully we can get away, too! I am excited for your skirt as I have been eye balling that pattern/style too!
Jodie, it would be SO worth the trip! It's the perfect sibling getaway. ❤️ There are tons of hot springs in the Kootenay region of BC, too - so I'd assume there would be in northern Washington and Idaho, too?
Megan, have you selected a swim suit pattern? Your swim fabric is beautiful, and I know it will look great on you! 💕 And lilac stretch denim? Amazing! The Quebec skirt is one of the patterns in my next order going off to PDF Plotting to be printed. I’m excited to try it! The Pearl pattern is going, too. I got some gorgeous Sparkly Feathers fabric from Beyond the Pink Door for that one. Ooh La La! 💗
Ooh, that sounds like an incredible fabric for a Pearl cardigan! I'm still looking but I like some of the Jalie swimsuits, and the Minute Maillot from Patterns for Pirates that Mari from Mari Sews reviewed last year.
Love the denims and the swimsuit material will have to do some investigation on my serger have been putting it off don't know why you have inspired me goodness me what an amazing day and place
I put a self imposed restriction on fabric buying for the new year, it lasted until I found a used serger for a great price…then I HAD to buy some knits 🙄. Then I had to buy serger thread, obviously…. It’s circular… whaddya gonna do😂
I love the lilac denim! Your swimsuit fabric is beautiful, too. I had a lot of trouble finding stretch denim. I'm planning to make the Cashmerette Ames Jeans this year. If my planning works, I'll start them in about a month.
If your hip is a size larger then your waist, then your waistband will become really bulky with a pull on skirt. I would consider adding a zipper...so a combination of a bit of elastic with a zipper. It’s very brave that you are going to sew swimwear.
That is exactly what I'm concerned about... I've also been looking at the Cashmerette denim skirt. Or, I bet I could do an elastic back, flat front and add a side zip?
Great fabric haul, I look forward to seeing your makes... It was kind of you to share a bit about your life and lovely to see your joy when you spoke about the time you have spent with your family 🙂
Thank you ❤️
Oh that spa day sounds amazing! Sewing is great but quality time with loved ones tops it every time 💜
It was really special, and I'm so glad we made the time for it!

When you figure out how to quit buying fabric, let me know. Btw, nice fabric.
😂😂 thanks, Barbara!!
Me too🤣😂🤣😂
Ditto 😅🙈🤭
Sounds like great sewing plans and a lovely time with family! I have made 4 pair of the Mountain View jeans and love them. I significantly narrowed the leg but the top of pants, waistband, yoke etc is awesome.
That's a great review, Renee - I am so tempted to try them!
That swimwear fabric is so gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing what you make with it!
Thank you!
Thankyou for this, I never thought if misthreading my machines to increase my knowledge if this went wrong with the stitches in my garments. Amazing. Thankyou again x
That purple fabric is gorgeous next to your face. Truly your colour. Beautiful.
Thank you! I'm going to have to look for more fabric in that colour!
Beautiful fabrics, looking forward to your makes. Enjoy your alone time!!!
Thank you!
Great fabrics..love the swimsuit fabric😍 can't wait to see all of your makes!
Glad you got to spend time with your family❤
Thanks, April! It was a really nice week with my brother.

That's a really smart strategy, I think!
That has been my week too and Monday is a holiday for us as well. So looking forward to a long weekend.
I hope you had a great weekend!

It's just nice to have those extra weekend days, isn't it? I hope you have a productive sewing week!
Great fabrics - can't wait to see your makes!
Thanks, Monica!

Thank you! I spent some time looking at the patterns you suggested and I'm going to pick one to try.
Gorgeous fabrics!!! Especially that lilac denim!!
Thank you!!

I've heard the Nordic spa in Winnipeg is amazing, too! You're right, a store bought bathing suit that would fit my size would NEVER cost $20!

My brain works much the same way. I love your fabrics.
Thanks, Sue! I'm glad I'm in good company!
That lilac color denim is amazing 😍 absolutely fell in love with it and am inspired to hunt for some now...there goes my "don't buy anymore fabric" right into the 🗑🤭
😆 I keep making the "don't buy anymore fabric" pledge and keep failing!
Happy Family Day weekend.
Thanks, Ruth! It's nice to see your name pop up!

It was an amazing experience.
I keep pulling that denim off the shelf to look at it, which is a good sign!
