- A rapidly growing brush fire near the 5 Freeway in Gorman forced evacuation orders Saturday and had grown to more than 14,000 acres by early Sunday night. Jennifer McGraw reports on June 16, 2024.

Fires start every day, it’s just when it’s super windy that they get out of control. And, arsonists know to start fires when it’s windy, and wait for it. My family lost our home to an arsonist who started a fire in extreme winds.

It's too windy. The helicopters are up when they can be, but it's extremely dangerous and they can't get their drops where they are needed. Fixed wings can't get close enough with the wind and terrain, so they are grounded until conditions improve.

If you’re close to the fire…it’s a state of panic.
If you’re close but not TOO close…it’s a state of anxiety.
For us, the viewers far from harm, we should be in a state of objectivity and at least look at what state the local news station is from.
