    Yes, discarding Cairn Wanderer doesn't work with Indominus, but it's still useful as a 4/4 that has all the keywords of your other previously discarded creatures. Soulflayer and Urborg Scavengers are also options for additional Keyword Soup.

    Paused this vid at the Cairn Wanderer. I think your assessment is off. You assumed that people are pitching it for the key words but I think it’s just a value piece and for the battlefield. In that regard it’s “ok”. I personally wouldn’t run it.
    I’m here watching this cause I’m building it too. I was already on Foodchain (with all the sultai pieces). I’m doing discard synergies via Bone Miser, etc. I’m going to try and use Sickening Dreams or Bitter Ordeal Loops to close it out. Voltron is a backup.

  • @DavidGreeneMtgJudge

    I agree with pretty much everything in this video. A mistake that I'm making is that I probably should be trying to take advantage of a few more reanimation spells than I currently am. And a mistake that I think you're making (without yet looking at your list, but I definitely will if it's posted) is that you might be overrepresenting your additional card draw.
    Instead of redundancy with the card draw, I would be utilizing blink spells which function both as protection, a way to untap the indominus, and as card draw.

    • @Tempest-Official
      @Tempest-Official  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! Glad to hear it coming from a judge.
      I have an essence flux, but also included a Malakar rebirth for that same reason. I could definitely see removing the noxious revival or another component with more blink. It was one of my primary quandries because the blue sources of blink are fine, but not nearly as numerous or efficient as white. Maybe an extra teferis time twist? But otherwise we start getting into the 3 mana blink spells which I tend to not like.
      And we could play repeatable forms of blink, or maybe a displacer kitten, but the balancing act might start to fall apart. Do I have enough creatures to reliably draw into for the next blink... etc. But for protection, absolutely. A++

    • @DavidGreeneMtgJudge
      @DavidGreeneMtgJudge 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Tempest-Official I was thinking about which kind of blink effects to play. I would probably choose the ones that have creatures immediately come back as opposed to ones that come back at end of turn just so that your major threat is immediately available.
      You lose out on being able to protect from Wrath of God type of effects, but you gain being able to ready up your commander against an attack. And if you're looking at a Wrath, at least you know everything else is getting taken out with you in half the cases.
      And I wouldn't deviate from the two mana or less effects. 3+ in too much.

      Update:
      I'm still planning on taking this deck for its inaugural spin next week. But I've done some gold fishing and discovered something phenomenal. Clones.
      I heavily discounted clones when I first made this deck list. I decided to test the three creature clones that don't go away. It was bonkers good.
      I've since fully adopted every clone I can put into this deck that won't get removed by the legend rule, excluding Auton Soldier because myriad doesn't play well with a small hand.
      I chose to make some pretty big sacrifices to do this but I think it's worth it to be able to play multiple copies of the best creature in the deck.

    Surprised there was no archfiend of ifnir. It has flying so at worst it’s one counter. At best it does this. Whenever you cycle or discard another card, put a -1/-1 counter on each creature your opponents control.

    @BeltFedWeapon 6 месяцев назад

    Well done. Other pikers on RUclips neglect the reanimator strategy or like you intimated, focus on something suboptimal like solely +1/+1 voltron and/or cards with low impact but 3 keywords.
    Some observations from my gameplay so far with my Indominus deck based largely around our shared philosophy of build:
    1). I like my proliferate to cost little to no mana. e.g. Vorel: I pulled him because he was slow, had no keywords, and had no utility outside of his version of proliferate. The corollary to this is that the Staff of Compleation & Cankerbloom are great for all the reasons Vorel is not.
    2) Altars. Depending upon how many black-based tutors one runs dictates how many you want. Dementia should ALWAYS be in the deck, and likely Ashnod’s as a good mana base with green ramp can allow for the the two colorless over Phrexian Altar’s sole ‘color of your choice’. And that’s not speaking of the added utility of sac on demand or ramping. The combo with Living Death and ‘keeping up’ with someone else’s Living Death is enough on its own.
    3). Speaking of tutors - you really don’t need that many. With the raw amount of mass card draw and the amount of your deck you will likely see in any game…you don’t have to run many if you do want them to up your consistency.
    4). Land count: For a reanimator deck, the spells you actually plan on casting generally cap out at 5 or 6 CMC; (if you’re paying full cost for Triplicate Titan, you’re doing it wrong). You can reduce your land count to 34, but make two of the cards Lunar Hatchling and Timberland Ancient. They are garbage cards normally, but in this deck they pull triple duty. You can pitch them early to sub in a land; you can pitch them midgame to Indominus to juice him and your hand as they each have 2 keywords, and late game, they are just dumb beaters to come back from the graveyard from your mass reanimation.
    4). Exploration or another cheapish extra land drops: the amount of lands I discard to hand size vs when I have Exploration out is lamentable. I’m thinking of trying to find a spot for Wayward Swordtooth (or Druid Class if that’s what you have) as well.

    Any thought given to Bringer of the Last Gift in the deck? It's essentially a Living Death that can be cast through Food Chain. I've been testing it to solid results though admittedly, it is a bit expensive. I'm not presently playing it, but I've also been considering Twilight's Call. Lastly, I think Glasspool Mimic is an auto include as it can double up on the Rex effect, have the option of putting the OG back in the Command Zone for a potential third Rex effect all while having the advantage of being a MDFC in a land slot.

    • @Tempest-Official
      @Tempest-Official  6 месяцев назад

      I initially was pretty "meh" about Bringer of the last gift. But I've trialed it a few times and have actually quite enjoyed it. Living Death on a creature is far more abusable than a sorcery.
      As far as glasspool mimic goes, I like the include! I enjoy my MDFC's. I think you are onto something for sure. Indominus Rex is such an interesting build path for that reason, being able to dabble in multiple avenues for maximum advantage.
      If you find anything else, let me know!

    Question. So pongify, I thought you can only target a creature with pongify after said creature has resolved. Is INDOs 2nd ability trigger happening after INDO is resolved???

    • @Tempest-Official
      @Tempest-Official  3 месяца назад

      You can add to the stack once an ability goes on it.
      For example, if a creature ETBs with an ability, the entire table must first pass priority before the ability resolves. Giving you the chance to cast an instant, like pongify.
      Even if you pongify that creature, it's ability still happens, but it could be useful to remove it before the ability resolves.

      I'd have to respectfully disagree. I don't think it is ill spirited to point out that other channels haven't yet mentioned an interaction. (which is all I did in this video.)
      I think a little competition is a good thing. I would be absolutely fine with someone respectfully taking apart one of my decks, like I did in my previous video with Joey from EDHRec.
      I also don't think its a bad thing to make the best possible video, which is my goal. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, as they say.
      Either way, I do hope you stick around for future uploads. All ideas are welcome here. :)

      @Tempest-Official  7 месяцев назад +2

      I think you misunderstood what I meant. You can proliferate those counters. You are correct that you can't discard additional creatures to double up, but you can certainly proliferate to double up and draw more cards. :)

    • @Genesis4119
      @Genesis4119 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you can. Counters like indestructable or flying counters can be put on an object, including by "doubling" (C.R. 701.9e) or "proliferating" (C.R. 701.27)

    • @mike1henney
      @mike1henney 7 месяцев назад
