    I am Croatian but Macedonia has incredible folk music and incredible asymetric rythmes. Leb i sol (Bread and salt) are representations of this.

    "Bread and salt" a Macedonian band a big star band in ex Yugoslavia. One of the greatest musicians especially the guitarist Vlatko Stefanovski. Believe us because we listened all the western bands (and we love them) altogether because of that, we can compare.

    The band's name is "Bread and Salt", and the song's title is "Teach Me Mother, Scold Me" (The rest of the lyrics are: How to get Liljana, Liljana, a beautiful girl, Liljana, tall and thin, Liljana, her mother's only child). The lyrics are from an old Macedonian folk song, and the music is the band's original creation.

      "Macedonian"? That's Serbia, it was called SOUTH SERBIA, Nothing else. History didn't start with probably installed Austro - Hungarian communist Tito who was making up imaginary nations in the Balkans

    Bio sam na njihovom poslednjem zajedničkom koncertu u Sava Centru u zimu 2009, gostovao je pokojni Đuričić i mislim da je to jedan od 3 najbolja koncerta koja sam gledao u životu. Negde u to vreme su dolazili veliki bendovi, Police na Ušću i njima je to bila zadnja turneja, Stonsi i Metalica takođe na ušću, AC/DC na stadionu JNA, Santana kod Nebojša kule i sve sam ih gledao i slušao. Sjajni prifesionalci koji posteno i dobro odsviraju, ali osetite da je to kompanija, pokretna ekonomija koja svra sintetički bez mnogo emocija i improvizacija. Vlatko i momci su davali tu energiju i emociju koju kod ovih sa zapada ne osećate, a što se tiče sviračkog umeća su često iznad mnogih velikih i poznatih muzičara sa velikih tržišta.

      I ja sam bila na njihovom koncertu 1992 Sava centar,Ekv oba dva koncerta 1991 Dom Omladine(najbolji),Iggy Pop sajam 1993 to je bio nikakav koncert.Sting vise puta i tj koncert nije me odusevio

    I am very fortunate and proud to know them all personally..... Organised them (Leb i Sol) tour around Australia in 2012 and then Vlatko Stefanovski Trio in 2018. Unforgettable experiences. Very glad I was able to contribute in exposing great Balkan music Down Under - these are some of the best musicians from Ex Yugoslavia, and definitely best from Macedonia 🎼🥁🎹🎸

    Excellent analysis. Vlatko Stefanovski (Leb i Sol) is a top Balkan guitarist and musician. Macedonia is musically specific, because they play odd rhythms 5/8, 7/8, 9/8, 13/8... etc

    "Leb i Sol" (Bread and Salt) band: Macedonian Rock Legends. among other music that they made, they got famous thru the hole Yugoslavia then, with the covers of some of the macedonian traditional folk compositions like this song. Check out their album "Bistra voda" ("Crystal water" ) if you liked this song.
    P.S. In the macedonian tradition, the guests are being welcomed by offering them bread and salt.
    Macedonia is known for its hospitability and the good people that live here.

      @@peramarkovic7148 Dovoljno bi bilo da si samo napisao originalan tekst, svako zna da koristi google translate. Ovako ispadne da je napisao neko ko zna, a ispala čista besmislica. Ali, vidim da si ispravio zadnji stih, sada ima smisla. Ispravi i ovo "high kin", jer se odnosi na karakter, a smisao stiha "Liljana, tenka, visoka" (ispravi u originalu) u pesmi je čisto u vezi fizičkog izgleda. Možda "Liljana, tall and slender"...

      Mogao bih se zakleti da je originalna verzija bila sa punim stihovima cak i sa onim "кучка Лилјана не дојде" dijelom. Nazalost moja kolekcija ploca a sa njom i ova od L&S je nestala u ludilu 90-tih. Dans na YT moze se naci samo ova "sanitarizirana" verzija.
