Carlos Santana is a beast. He will quietly contribute no matter what no matter the situation he is thrust into. He also has been playing for a really long time, longer than most position players ever will.
Been a Pirates fan for my entire life, so I've seen a **lot** of veterans signed to small-money one-year deals; I don't think I've ever been so disappointed that they didn't keep one around for at least another season as I was with Santana. That walk-off homer/subsequent dance was *easily* the most iconic moment of the Pirates' 2023 season, and it was from a player who played only half the season.
I loved watching Carlos Santana's 2019 season. That season was the craft of hitting at its pinnacle. It is difficult to explain, but I could tell he had made the absolute most of the natural talent he was given. Thanks for making a video of such a wonderful player.
I and a few others have argued that his tenure with the mariners during the 2022 season was a massive reason why that team broke their 20 year long postseason drought. Despite being picked up mostly because our starting first baseman Ty France was injured, and playing just under 80 games for the Ms that season, Santana was a mentor and good friend of Julio Rodriguez (that year's RotY winner), and was the oldest player on a team full of position players under the age of 30, providing desperately needed leadership and positive vibes to a young core (especially to Spanish speaking players like Julio and Eugenio Suarez, and former Phillies teammate JP Crawford). He joined the team right after their infamous brawl with the Angels in June, and the team won 16 of the first 17 games he played with them (and yes, 13 of those were part of that amazing 14 game winning streak). And even when France came back from injury, Santana slotted perfectly into the DH slot being a switch hitter with great plate discipline. You can actually still see his influence on the team today as he was the one that started the infielder victory dance the team now does after every win.
I met Carlos as a kid at my coaches house party in NY maybe in 2012. They were close like family and I remember him being super cool and down to earth then being confused that he was a normal person. First time I realized athletes and celebrities have actual lives lmao
I absolutely love Carlos Santana. I'm a long time Braves fan and a Mariners fan, and watching him produce for the Mariners in 2022 genuinely healed my soul. That 3 run home run deserves to live on the in Mariners hall of fame or something
Having Santana on the Twins has been awesome. The team started the year so miserably with so many injuries and underwhelming performances, but Santana stayed out there everyday and led the team back into the AL Central discussion. He and Willi Castro are pretty much neck-and-neck for being the Twins' MVP this year.
Only had one season with him on my favorite team and he is easily one of my all-time favorites. Just the best dude and yeah, clutch as hell. Great choice of someone to highlight, 10/10,
Carlos Santana signed a baseball for me when I was a kid. I think it would’ve been 2015. My dad had quarter season tickets and there was an event where we got to meet all kinds of players. My mom took a selfie with Josh Tomlin 😂I’ve only ever met 2 other baseball players - they were Cleveland prospects at the time. I have a signed ball from Bradley Zimmer. I also ran into Clint Frazier leaving the bathroom at progressive field. He was a guest announcer that night - he totally didn’t think anyone would recognize him.
I love the fact that I went to an uneventful post-ASB game half the country away while on vacation and Carlos hit a bomb that made it into this video (the Twins/Brewers game). Loved Santana forever, wish he was a Mariner longer
Im a pirates fan, and ever since 2023, i've had him followed on the MLB app and I check in everyday to see what he does because I love him so much! This video was awesome and I'm glad someone else noticed this timeless wonder.
I remember Jolly Olive making interesting baseball videos years ago. Later I became a fan of Jomboy Media, then I see he is part of that now. Love it and great job!
As a Mariners fan, he’s been one of my favorites since he was here. His numbers were around league average for us, but every time he came up in a big spot, he turned into Barry Bonds and time after time put up miraculous hit to end our playoff drought and then win a playoff series…
As a huge Cleveland fan I love Carlos! He's been one of my favorites for years and I root for him no matter where he goes. Another great Cleveland centered idea would be on Tyler Olson's 2017 season. He had a 0.00 ERA and then pretty much was never good again.
Cleveland fan here to share my favorite Carlos Santana memory (aside from maybe him catching the last out in the ALCS to send us to the 2016 WS) - I'll never forget the AL Central race in 2019 in that brief period in August or so when the then-Indians actually had a chance to overtake the Bomba Squad Twins for the division lead. The two teams faced off in Minnesota with near-identical records, and after a tense, toe-to-toe nine innings, Santana came up to bat with the bases loaded (and I think no outs?) in extras and obliterated a grand slam that ended up helping to propel Cleveland past MN for the division lead - ... sure, that division lead lasted for all of five minutes, but it was still fun!
Slamtana!!! Now don’t get us Twins fans wrong most Twins fans turned our backs on him after that very, very slow start. But he slapped us about 20 times in the face. And wow is it fun to watch him play 1st base.
I saw him at Mitchell’s ice cream after a day game vs the athletics. He was with his family but I wanted to say what’s up so I went to get water and fist bumped and said “nice home run today” and he nodded and said thank you
I’ve been a big fan of Carlos Santana since he was with the Indians, even though I was a Tigers fan. He’s just such a good player. Same with Asdrubel Cabrera, it’s too bad I’ve never gotten to root for a team they have been on. And Harper wasn’t on the Phillies in 2018! Love the videos and I love olives, keep up the great content!
Man, I wish he was better as a Royal. I loved watching Santana bat and hated writing an article on him struggling. He is still one of my favorite batters to watch to this day.
Thought of this while watching the Braves/Twins series. We need a video on the rise, fall, then resurgence of Marcell Ozuna. Went from being an afterthought for off the field incidents to being an absolute indispensable part of the Braves offense carrying them for just about all year while everyone else around him has underperformed or been injured or both
When he was with the Phillies I got ball from him in DC. The first one he threw me was intercepted so he threw me another the next inning. It was the first time I’ve gotten a ball at a game. He’s been one of my favorites since.
Fun fact, while playing 1st, 3rd, and Catcher his whole career, he actually made an appearance in Left during the 2016 World Series after a couple of injuries and lackluster outfield performances.
Being from Ohio and going to probably a dozen Indians games in the early-mid 2010s, Santana being in the lineup always gave them a chance. We usually sat in roght field and it felt like he hit a home run over our heads every time we were there. Lol.
I think it would be cool if you posted a video about the best seasons by players who weren’t all stars that season. Like when porcello won the cy young in 2016 or morneau’s 06 mvp
do a video on the GOAT Ben Revere. most underrated consistent two way players ever that no team wanted to sign after his last year at 29 years old after an above average season.
It wasn’t Santana in the clubhouse that got him traded out of Philly. It was the fact the GM at the time signed him with Rhys Hoskins on the roster. It was a huge no-go.
I remember when he got that 3 year 60$ Million contract people thought his career was over then got traded back to the Indians and became an All Star and hes still playing
I love seeing guys who have been in the league for a while, then Jolly comes out with a video about how they’re the nicest person ever
I think part of why they’ve stayed around so long is because people like having them around
Putting a clip of Plouffe striking out looking is criminal😂
wild
Carlos Santana is a beast. He will quietly contribute no matter what no matter the situation he is thrust into. He also has been playing for a really long time, longer than most position players ever will.

That pitts walkoff celly was hands down the coolest thing to ever happen on a baseball diamond
I loved watching Carlos Santana's 2019 season. That season was the craft of hitting at its pinnacle. It is difficult to explain, but I could tell he had made the absolute most of the natural talent he was given. Thanks for making a video of such a wonderful player.
Imagine watching Aaron judge or shohei every day. Jealous
He partly the reason why the Mariners made it back to the playoffs, thankful for his contributions in 2022
Feel like this guy is an extremely underrated player who contributes well each and every season no matter the situation he joins into.
Oh you have some deep sensing feeling of that? Wonder what brings you to this feeling
@@EDA47_ obviously the video is about that lmao but he’s never talked about unless you watch a lot of baseball
Literally the entire point of the video
Twins fan here ✋🏼 it’s been an absolute pleasure to have him here, and it’s looking like he has a legit shot at a gold glove
I and a few others have argued that his tenure with the mariners during the 2022 season was a massive reason why that team broke their 20 year long postseason drought.

Man we need his durability for the braves this year. It's been rough
Yes and Griffin Jax as the Twins dark horse Cy Young winner. Dude's underrated.
Byron Buxton is such a joke
Only had one season with him on my favorite team and he is easily one of my all-time favorites. Just the best dude and yeah, clutch as hell. Great choice of someone to highlight, 10/10,
I'm a Phillies fan so I will always respect Santana. He played for us in a tough year and was a joy to watch every day.
Carlos Santana signed a baseball for me when I was a kid. I think it would’ve been 2015. My dad had quarter season tickets and there was an event where we got to meet all kinds of players. 4:37 was definitely put in here on purpose😂
As a mariner fan I love him
I remember Jolly Olive making interesting baseball videos years ago. Later I became a fan of Jomboy Media, then I see he is part of that now. Love it and great job!
Always a Jolly day when Olive posts
He was always an incredible player surprised he only had 1 all star appearance.
As a Mariners fan, he’s been one of my favorites since he was here.
His numbers were around league average for us, but every time he came up in a big spot, he turned into Barry Bonds and time after time put up miraculous hit to end our playoff drought and then win a playoff series…
Jolly I'll say I've watched a lot of baseball commentary videos, and you have by far one of the easiest voices to listen to
As a Brewers fan we loved having him in 2023! Another Jolly banger!
His one season with the Royals did it for me. Amazingly consistent, sneaky good fielder, and a seemingly wonderful human being.
Same thing for me with his half a season in Seattle. He was clutch as hell
As a huge Cleveland fan I love Carlos! He's been one of my favorites for years and I root for him no matter where he goes.
Another great Cleveland centered idea would be on Tyler Olson's 2017 season. He had a 0.00 ERA and then pretty much was never good again.
He's definetly my favorite! He's swing and defense are just awesome.
Jolly Olive, Subscribed because your videos are so much fun!
Forever a Mariners Legend
Slamtana!!! Now don’t get us Twins fans wrong most Twins fans turned our backs on him after that very, very slow start. But he slapped us about 20 times in the face. And wow is it fun to watch him play 1st base.
11:26 This is so true it’s crazy.
I already loved carlos santanna now i really love carlos santanna
I'll always remember him as a Mariner!
I can’t wait to make up some advanced stat that accounts for longevity after he retires. That’ll be the backbone of my Carlos Santana HOF agenda
I saw him at Mitchell’s ice cream after a day game vs the athletics. He was with his family but I wanted to say what’s up so I went to get water and fist bumped and said “nice home run today” and he nodded and said thank you
We love when jolly covers the players we grew up enjoying
I loved when Santana was on the mariners he was the most clutch player I’ve ever seen.
Loved having him on the Pirates even if it was just half a season. He's such a likeable guy.
0:52 backfield minor league game featuring Jonathon Lucroy catching. Baseball rocks
Love this video. He was a blast to watch here in Cleveland, but he was never a Guardian. Only an Indian.
And you can add 2024 AL Gold Glove at 1B to that list of accomplishments!
So hoping that the Mariners will bring back this 38 yr old phenom!
As a Cleveland guy I've been loving your videos on Pronk and now Santana :)
Man, I wish he was better as a Royal. I loved watching Santana bat and hated writing an article on him struggling. He is still one of my favorite batters to watch to this day.
Always loved Santana watching in the league and him in mlb the show too
Slamtana, Axeman, El Oso, Benjamin Button, Glitch. The man, the myth, the legend, has many names
Thought of this while watching the Braves/Twins series. We need a video on the rise, fall, then resurgence of Marcell Ozuna. Went from being an afterthought for off the field incidents to being an absolute indispensable part of the Braves offense carrying them for just about all year while everyone else around him has underperformed or been injured or both
Loved Carlos as a Brewer when he was here for a half season
did not need a video to convince me to love santana but i'll happily watch anyway
I knew he was in the league but I didn’t know he’s been in the league for 15 years and was almost 40. Crazy as hell but a beast overall
Plouffe catching strays in this video 🤣
As a twins fan, I’ve been loving him this season
Shoutout Anthony Garcia. Kid is stud
Im ashamed to admit I told a friend I wanted the twins to DFA him in early May
I was at the June 30 Pirates game. That walk-off was nuts!
The reason I really like him is he throws all his warm up balls in the crowd and is very nice with toss ups
LFG CARLOS SANTANA MENTIONED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gosh I love this MLB power pros music intro!
My favorite player growing up in Cleveland man. Those 2010’s Indians teams were not good and he was a bright spot fr
Jolly you didn’t need this video he already is my favorite baseball player
Mariners Legend
Maria Maria. You remind me of an westside story. Growing up in spanish Harlem.
He is now one of my fav but acuna will be my fav forever
Idk how you do it jolly but everytime you make a video of dudes in the league like this they legit become my favorite player 😭
mariners legend
When he was with the Phillies I got ball from him in DC. The first one he threw me was intercepted so he threw me another the next inning. It was the first time I’ve gotten a ball at a game. He’s been one of my favorites since.
zack hample strikes again.
Love Santana
He feels like another Nelson Cruz
You should do Elvis Andrus next
Being a Tigers fan I won’t love Carlos. But he has been one of my favorite players to actually enjoy watching his At-Bats.
Love your vidsss
Fun fact, while playing 1st, 3rd, and Catcher his whole career, he actually made an appearance in Left during the 2016 World Series after a couple of injuries and lackluster outfield performances.
How can I like this video multiple times
He deserves to win the gold glove this year too, he's been an elite fielder at first
Carlos santa lo mas duroo 🇩🇴❤️🩹
The PowerPros shop music over the sponsor is a great touch
Love it. Great video. Francisco Rodriguez next??
Being from Ohio and going to probably a dozen Indians games in the early-mid 2010s, Santana being in the lineup always gave them a chance. We usually sat in roght field and it felt like he hit a home run over our heads every time we were there. Lol.
A very under appreciated talent
Video almost made cry
You made him my favorite player
Another jolly classic
Even though carlos wasnt a pirate for long. he made a long lasting impression that walk off vs the brewers legendary
I thought if you were gonna do video telling us who should be our favorite baseball player it would be a current or former met!
13 OOA this season too!
I think it would be cool if you posted a video about the best seasons by players who weren’t all stars that season. Like when porcello won the cy young in 2016 or morneau’s 06 mvp
As a Twins fan, I thought he was cooked when he had a rough April. Since then, he’s been a joy to watch.
Love the sweater Jolly
Love him, since he faced my 2016 Blue Jays and 2022 Blue Jays and both played a big role to kill my Jays.
do a video on the GOAT Ben Revere. most underrated consistent two way players ever that no team wanted to sign after his last year at 29 years old after an above average season.
It wasn’t Santana in the clubhouse that got him traded out of Philly. It was the fact the GM at the time signed him with Rhys Hoskins on the roster. It was a huge no-go.
Power Pros Music on point
And add the fact that his card in The Show 24 is God Tier
0:03 He so smooth tho
I’ll see myself out
I'm so dead serious he is my favorite baseball player ever and has been for about 10 years
I remember when he got that 3 year 60$ Million contract people thought his career was over then got traded back to the Indians and became an All Star and hes still playing
A positive video
brewers legend carlos santana
