The Doug story actually made me cry. An announcement seems like the worst way to find out your best friends died, they should’ve had a guidance counsellor break the news or something.

Picture it. 1979. Southern California. We are practicing for high school graduation. Some frosh or sophmore decide to ride around on campus on his dirt bike (off road motorcycle). Principal comes out (dude was 6'4" (1.93m) tall and a solid 240 pounds (109kg)) and the kid on the dirt bike realizes the principal is now in his path, lays down the bike and slides to a stop just before hitting the principal. Principal pick him up, one-handed, by the kids shirt collar, lifts the kid off the ground and carries the kid back into the admin building. Principal got a round of applause from us seniors.

One day our class got donuts. One of my friends said he was gonna eat the donut it one bite. We all thought nothing of it and went about eating out donuts. When we looked back he was chocking on it. Like actually chocking. He was a pretty big guy and my teacher was really small, as were all of us, so in the heat of the moment we had no idea what to do. When I was in middle school, there was a rumor about one of my teachers. It was about my math teacher and when she gets angry, her face gets super red and when shes super pissed her face changes to the color of the rainbow. Back then, being a stupid 13 year old I totally wanted to see my math teacher turn from red to orange to green etc (which is not what happened). So after everyone found out what makes her mad they decided it would be a good idea to test it out.
I'll never forget the moment, it was Thursday afternoon around 2:30-ish in 2018 when she died in front of the class from a heart attack, it traumatized me to my core. So much so when I watch a movie and a actor or actress is acting out a heart attack, I have to shut my eyes.
What made it worse was when I found out she had just found out she was able to have a child after waiting and wanting one for so long. If I could, I would definitely go back and change that.

When I was high school 25 years ago, a kid was run over by a car right in front of me. We were in the crosswalk leading to the campus, and had the signal. But a speeding driver ignored the light and plowed right into him. Dozens of people came running to help, but I knew better. The kid was dead before what was left of him splattered on the pavement. You don't realize how much blood and organs the human body has until you see something like that. I quietly walked away and never talked about it. It changed how I viewed mortality; people die literally every second on this planet, sometimes in the most mundane happenstance.

Years ago, I was in a high school class with a Syrian kid and the history teacher inquired about what life was like back home since they were under terrorist rule almost completely at that time. The class became super attentive and the kid ended up divulging that he had seen his entire family executed in front of his eyes by ISIS soldiers during the height of their captivity of Syria. They had come into his house and in whatever room they found someone, they shot them on sight. I don't remember him mentioning how he escaped, although I can only imagine how horrible it must have been. The class was so quiet that the air felt heavy and dense and the teacher couldn't say a thing. I was blown away that someone could even experience something like that and still come out of it because God knows if someone killed my family in front of me, I would kill myself as well, I have no doubt. I'm not sure where that kid is now but I wish him joy, love and wealth for his future. If you have the courage to make it through that and come to a different country for a new life, surely you can achieve anything that comes your way.

    Small personal story:
For a long time I wasn’t really a basketball person as a kid, heck I barely even knew how to play at the time. One day during summer camp when I was 8-9, my friends asked if I wanted to play basketball with them. Even though I didn’t like the sport, I still agreed to play because it was worth hanging out with my friends. I don’t remember most of what happened, but all I remember is that when I had the ball, I tripped and basically sliced my knee open somehow. The cut was deep enough to have a rock logged inside it, and anyways long story short I had to go to the hospital (and oh my god it bled so much I thought I was gonna faint from blood loss)

I would like to share something disturbing that I've witnessed at school.
When I was in grade 5, I needed something from our school's art room. When I arrived at the classroom, I heard scratching from one of the cupboards. After acquiring the cupboard's key from a teacher, I opened it. There was a little girl in the cupboard, only 7 years old. Her fingers were bleeding from trying to claw away at the cupboard door. She was crying and was terrified. After getting her to calm down, I asked her how long she was in the cupboard. She answered that she was there since the end of the first break. I checked my watch and was horrified to find out that she had been in that cupboard for one and a half hours and nobody came to look for her. I asked her who did it and she told me that a grade 7 did it. She told me who it was but begged me not to tell because apparently if I told anyone, 'the grade 7 will come back' So I didn't tell anyone directly. Instead, I left an anonymous note on the 7-year-old's teacher's desk. The 7th grader was probably expelled because I never saw her again. This 7-year-old had SEVERE claustrophobia and nyctophobia. Fortunately, she got therapy. 2 years later, I met up with her again. She was looking a lot better but had permanent scarring on her hands from the cupboard incident. We talked over lunch. Yeah, that was sad.

I packed up my things and got out of school grounds. I contacted my mom and told him that I'll rendezvous with my cousin later (we go to the same school).

I was one of the first people out the building and nobody knew what was going on at first but as soon as everybody realized, we all ran over and a bunch of people tried to put him out and called emergency services. They got got him out eventually but he was all blistery and I could tell he was in so much pain even though he was like half conscious on the ground. I think the story was he was schizophrenic and just got the urge to light himself on fire. He made it to the hospital but he died after a day or two. He was in our age range and had friends at my school and the day everybody found out he died was so sad. Just a really shitty situation all around.

This happened when I was 11, every detail is still very memorable to the point where it hurts to think about , this also happened after school. So I’m not really sure if this counts? But oh well.
I met this boy named jonny in 1st grade, we became pretty close and I considered him to be a brother.
One day after school, we decided to hang out at the park with some mutual friends before going home. We ran around, pranked called people, we even climbed the rooftop of the public restroom.
When we decided to head home, we didn’t wanna take the crosswalk because it was pretty far from the park, so we decided we would jaywalk.
The road wasn’t as busy, even if it was, every car was going 15-20 mph because it was a school zone.
We ran across half the road and stopped at this yellow thing, I don’t remember what it was called but it divided the two lanes of the road.
A car stopped for us so that we could make it to the sidewalk, we gave them a thanks hand signal and started to run over,
Jonny and another boy ran ahead of me,
A speeding car came out of nowhere and hit both of them extremely hard. Blood spewed everywhere.
Jonny died instantly, but the other boy survived with only broken legs, thank god he lived. It was such a surreal experience, my school wasn’t the same afterwards.

He shattered the window with his face, and that day the guy no longer had a nose as it was cut cleanly off. Still remember the blood on the broken glass shards. People said that they could quite literally see the nose on the ground before the teachers managed to wrangle us all away. This one time in seventh grade, I was with my best friend at the time during recess and we saw a decent amount of people gathered in the far corner against the building so of course we were going to go see what was happening. When we got there we saw this one kid who was just straight up gross, I mean I dont think he showered more than once a month, I'll have you know we went to a Charter school, which just means the staff really made sure we knew our 'character' or whatever. So when we finally got in view, we saw him cornering a small field mouse. After a few seconds, he stomped on its head, everybody was just standing there in awe that he deadass just killed a mouse for no reason, it didnt stop there though. He proceeded to stuff it in an empty water bottle and he dropped his pants then and there and pissed in the bottle with the newly dead mouse. He shook it for like five minutes, laughing like an absolute maniac, and when we went back in (no idea how he got the bottle into the school) he put it on a the english teacher's desk. He was expelled after they found more freshly dead rodents in his locker.

This one incident is still fresh in my mind, and somewhat developed my fear of trucks as a child. One morning we were on the way to school and in front of it, a truck sped by too fast and crashed a store right beside our school. Whole school filled with children screamed and cried as they witnessed the whole accident. There were glass flying in the air. Looking closer, I saw the front of the truck being crushed. I swear I heard the driver screaming his lungs out. In the aftermath, some kids were intrigued, some (mostly girls) broke down crying, clearly traumatized by the scene. One kid refused to move from her spot that they resorted to call her parents.

I've got a story: so it was a peaceful Wednesday, which is the day my school finishes early (at 2pm) the day was normal... Until my last lesson, I had history which I really hate so I went to the toilet during lesson and hid there until home time, while playing on my phone I realized it was 4pm but the end of school bell still hadn't rung, I was confused' l, so I walked out of the stall I was hiding out in and instantly realized the the room had changed, the grafiti that was previously scribbled on the walls and stalls had changed to either a drawing of an eye or the words "we watch weepers" I was frozen in place as I noticed that the stall behind me was gone and now a sink and mirror took its place, I ran to the sink and splashed my face with cold water (which was luke warm instead of cold) but that's also when I saw the creepiest thing I've ever seen in my life...

Had a quiet kid in a few of my classes (say his name's 'fred'). I'd known him all growing up and being a weird kid (who knew almost everyone and was friends with lots of people) was always nice because he for some reason gave me the oddest vibes.
One day 'fred' was in auto shop class with me and was basically going on about how everyone picked on him or ignored him and that he hated everyone's guts. That the teachers didn't care about any of us and especially not him and that he had no friends either so nobody would stick up for him. He then went on to warn me since I was the "only person who was nice to him" to "not come to school tomorrow... Something bad will happen." This scared the shit out of me (this wasn't too long after Columbine)..... So I told on him.
The next day he was nowhere to be found and the school was crawling with cops. A lot of kids actually stayed home and I begged my mom to let me but she was one of those "if you're not bleeding or dying you're going!" Kind of parents. During the day we had multiple check-ins to our classes with administration and police. We had to wait for special announcements to be able to go from class to class and were told to eat our lunches in a class rooms, the gym, library, or cafeteria and avoid being outside if we didn't have to be out there.
Needless to say nothing actually happened, but I also never saw 'Fred' again.

The principal came in about 1 minutes later and then the nurse came in and started asking her questions, "Do you know your name?," "What's the year", "Do you know where you are", etc. then the principal started getting the students out of the class so I just ran back to my classroom.

I remember that there was a girl, which downgraded to us in 6th grade, she was by that time, at least 3 times arrested for something (I don't remember for what exactly) and 1 time she even escaped out of the prison. When she came to us, she was acting horrible on teacher, basically gave us the name for the worst class in the school. She lasted with us around 2 months, before she was arrested again, she should have returned probably at the end of 9th grade. There was long time no word about her, no info, but one day my classmate browsed police database out of curiosity, and saw her wanted 2 years before her release, so she probably escaped and they wrote that she shouldn't be dangerous but still we got little bit scared because of her mental state, and I still fear even today.
Edit: now I am in 8th grade - 14 years old.

Once when I was at school, in the bathroom (just chillin’ didn’t feel like returning to class) and a girl bursts in. Says, “can you give me a pad please? It’s urgent!” And since the girls’ bathroom has a box with pads, I give her one.
She goes to the nearest stall, and I can see her feet.
Just as she was pulling down her pants, blood drips to the floor. I felt incredibly sick and nauseous, and the girl shouts, “Shit! Do you know my mom?”, she asks me.
    “Yes” I reply
“Can you go get her? Please!”
I rush out the door, and her mom works as the school nurse, so I hurry down to the infirmary, and get her, I told her her daughter had an accident, a big one, and is waiting for her in the middle school girls’ bathroom.
We both rush there, and the mom helps her daughter get cleaned and stuff.
By this time, I missed 30 mins of class (my classes are 50 mins long) and tell the nurse. She gives me this pass and thanks me for rushing to her and help this girl.
When I got to class, I felt incredibly sick, and the smell of blood stuck in my nose.
That day I got to leave school early. That day was the most disturbing of my life
Edit: To clear some confusion, I'd already had had my period like 2 years before this happened, I got used to the sight of blood. But in this story, I got nauseous cause it was heavy flow, clumps and all fell on the floor. And the smell. It was a bit uncomfortable to see.

I went to junior high with a girl that had very severe depression, and there were several incidents in which she would hurt herself in school on purpose because things were just that bad in her head. Two incidents I remember the most however would be when I walked into the bathroom and saw her slicing up her wrist with a pair of scissors. I immediately got the nurse and she was taken to the hospital, but all they did was put bandages on her wounds and send her home, thinking she had done it for attention as the cuts weren't even that deep. That same night her mother then proceeded to beat the shit out of her for cutting. However I quickly became very close friends with this girl after the bathroom cutting incident, and I spent a lot of my time looking after her and trying to keep her mood up because I too suffered from nasty depression at the time, so I resonated with her a little. (I wasn't suicidal like she was, however. I was always more just a "bummed out every day" mild case.) Whenever I saw new scars on her arm I'd draw over them and try to give her some cool tattoos to boost her confidence and give her something to make her happy. (I'd almost always write a Coldplay lyric on her arm, too, because they were my favorite band at the time and they still give me lots of inspiration and hope, I figured they might do the same for her) while she vented to me. Unfortunately she left the school after attempting to kill herself when we came back from a field trip. She had snuck some aspirin into school and then tried to overdose. I noticed the pills and alerted our teacher, who got the nurse and the school officer and the dean. I stayed with that girl and held her until the paramedics arrived. After that, I never saw her again. I heard through the grapevine that she did survive her attempt, thankfully, though I don't know if she ever got the help she needed. I hope she did and that wherever she is, she's in a much better state now. I think about her every now and again years later.

At my school one of the teachers invited their grandpa or dad (cant remember) to speak about war.
halfway through one of his speeches, he said he didn't feel well and eventually had a heart attack with a bunch of middle schoolers watching. I ended up being absent that day and im grateful I was because students who were there said it was very traumatizing.
There were also some older kids who actually got up and preformed CPR on him. Even though he wasn't able to saved, im so happy that some people were brave enough to try and save him. They are just amazing people.

    This is my own story.
I didn't see it, but I was in the place next to where it happened. My little sisters went to a daycare, and I went there too as an after school care. I was in a different building than them because I'm older. Then all of a sudden my mom came to pick me up early. She said that there was an emergency. This is what the emergency was. In a different room, my younger sisters were playing with their age group. The teachers weren't paying attention. Then one of my little sister's leaned back very far in a chair. That chair was near the cold hard part of the ground. She fell down and her eye busted open. It was hanging out, and she went to the emergency room. My mom says that she was very lucky and she almost lost her eye. *She was 4 at the time.* Damn, that must've been traumatizing to the 4 year olds watching her. We never went to that daycare again.

Silly me back then wasn't aware to the bigger threat of school shootings, I pushed them off as some things morally destroyed kids do when they have nothing else to lose. Then after watching and digging around, it kind of shocked me how shit goes from a normal day to run for your lives in that one moment. Our school was super small. (about 200 students ranging from k-6th) One day when I was in 2nd grade, I was chillin with my friends on the swings and we suddenly hear screaming, laughing, and our teachers yelling at us all at once. We look around and there is a COW running through the soccer field. Said cow lived on the farm behind the school and haf broken through the fence. My friends and I run inside giggling and make our way to our classroom where we spent the next 20 minutes watching the principle, janitor, and lunch ladies chase the cow around the back field and playground before it's owner finally came by with a trailer to pick it up.
