    Elrond's Army was not able to reach Eregion as Sauron's Greater Host was able to keep Elrond at Bay and Eregion was devastated. Elrond was able to gather up many survivors and was forced North until making his stand where Imladris would later be founded.

    Actually during the seige Sauron comes out and fights with Isildur, Elendil, Gilgalad and Elrond; Sauron kills Elendil and mortally wounds Gilgalad but is beaten up in the process. They pin him down and Isildur cuts the ring off. Your video implies it's more like the sequence in the movies, with Isildur essentially getting lucky.

    • @EcthelionoftheFountain725
      @EcthelionoftheFountain725 6 месяцев назад +16

      To be even more accurate: we don't know for sure about Elrond and Isildur involvement in fight against Sauron, and Gilgalad was burned to ashes by Saurons hand, and Elendil was slain in fight, but broke his sword by falling on it. But, most importantly, as you claimed, Isildur cuts the Ring from a "dead" Saurons body

    • @Tar-Elenion
      @Tar-Elenion 6 месяцев назад

      @@EcthelionoftheFountain725 Yeah, the 'involvement' of Elrond, Cirdan and Isildur read more like acting as seconds in an _honourable_ 2 on 1 duel.

    I wish we learned more about the Dwarves involvement in the War of the Last Alliance. In some ways, it was the Last Alliance of Elves, DWARVES and Men, all three people effected by the rings of power, united in defiance of the Lord of the Ruling ring. While never stated, it does seem likely that Durin IV would have been the King of Khazad-Dum and leader of the Longbeard Clan during this time, and I could see him joining forces with Gil-galad and Elendil to face against Sauron. He could have made his way through Dagorlad and the Morannon, helped beseige Barad-Dur, and lost his life alongside the other high rulers in single combat with the Dark Lord on the SLopes of Mount Doom. The Sword of Elendil broken, the Spear of Gil-galad lost, and the Axe of Durin left unwielded until the next incarnation. I would love to see a video covering Dwarven Armies of the second, third and maybe even fourth age!

  • @Tar-Elenion
    @Tar-Elenion 6 месяцев назад +16

    Tolkien does not say Eregion was founded by a 'belligerant faction'. He says Eregion was founded because mithril was discovered in Khazad-dum:
    "Later some of the Noldor went to Eregion, upon the west of the Misty Mountains, and near to the West-gate of Moria. This they did because they learned that mithril had been discovered in Moria."
    LotR, App. B
    Imladris was founded after Sauron invaded and sacked Eregion.
    The rings could not be used while Sauron held the One Ring.
    Aeglos was a spear, not a glaive.
    The Sindar used the axe.
    (You are trying to hard to put odd weapons from the archaic Fall of Gondolin story into the Second Age)
