I recently purchased a 1922 Lithgow number 1 mark 3* and to start with I set my target to 100 yards after I put 5 rounds into it then I moved the target to 200 yards and repeated that until I was happy to reliably hit the bullseye most of the time. I also have a number 4 mark 1/3 with a scope on it that can hit very close to the centre of the target at 500 yards and potentially out to 800 once I dial the settings in, now my eyes aren't what they used to be the front sight is a bit blurry the targets in focus after having cataract surgery so my no1 mark 3* it getting a scope on it soon cheers mate 🇦🇺
I see you’re also missing the little wood piece under the bolt handle. I had mine fly off the first time I brought my smle to the range. For me it was the metal part recoiling back in that part of stock and eventually breaking it. Solved by grinding off a bit of material from the piece itself, where it makes contact with the iron piece in front of it, and regluing with vinyl glue.
To be honest, with the way I was shooting, I don’t think it would have made a difference, but yes, I need to work with my trusty assistant on his spotting calls.
Your spotter should be a commentator for Sky Sports, What blabber. The shooter doesn’t need to know what he did wrong or where it lands, the spotter sees and knows this, the spotter should be telling the shooter the correction. A simple left X inches, up Y inches tells you what to do not what you did wrong for you work it out. He is supposed to be taking control and guiding you back on the target.
@johnclark1925, very valid feedback, and something I should have taken him through before we started. With the way I was shooting, I don't think it would have made much of a difference though.
Not all his fault, I could have been more specific before we started as to what I needed, but that being said, I was shooting that badly I don't think it would have made much of a difference to the result.
@@381038jam he wasn’t the best, but I also could have told him what calls I wanted. I won’t be using him when I try again, and see if that makes a difference.
If the video gets 10,000 views, I'll borrow the 303 again, and have another go.

Very jealous @scottorgan2255 !!
What scope and mount are you using for the number 1? I’m in the same situation as you. Just can’t see the sights like I used to.

Thank for the tip, @MatteoSaverioGrasso, I'll pass that onto the owner, as I was just borrowing it.
Wasting rounds with poor calls. You need to be told target widths "full target right" "quarter target right" and the same for elevation.

Nice! But your spotter needs to be more specific. Thanks for posting
Yes, he needs a little training.

Thanks @RockyLonda-ob5so
which sight is being used ?
@@dereklyle6589 Just the standard, slightly adjustable, rear, along with the sliding front sight for elevation.
After 200 rounds. "you shot to the right every time" 😂🤣😂🤣
I even adjusted the sights at one point, and made it even worse LOL
@@Its_range_day Are you sure you went the right way with the adjustment? I expected you to come well back to the left.
@@lindsayrandall5488 so did I !
Does this guy know his left from his right, ?
@@phillipsharpe6459 on that particular day, I don’t think I did 🤣
You need a new spotter who can actually give you some accurate info. Your current guy is useless.

@@Its_range_day ... fair comment.
The spotter needs to give simple clearer directions on the impacts.
Yes he does @dougalmcalpine6804, and I tried to correct that in "Take 2" with new spotters, but it didn't really work.
The rifle has800meters effective range
@@lloydlaurance8981 then I’m glad I don’t have access to an 800m rage, as I wouldn’t hit the target at that range either 😉
your spotter is very bad for for you
FYI calls should call your shot eg1 target right 1/4 target low ,if he says anything else butt stroke him
I'll keep that in mind if I ask him to spot again @paulargent1003 LOL.
More practice, and get rid of those stupid weapon rests and soft cushion for your rifle butt, you don't need them. Wind and elevation my good man.
Thanks @davea8060. Hoping to have another go this weekend.
What a horrible spotter couldn’t understand anything as English guy was trying to convey.
