How sad that the only fairly ‘High Speed” speed Line (Skokie Swift) has been transferred to typical Snares paced route. There was a time this route easily pushed the 70mph mark between Dempster and Howard. Sometimes (not often) progress does NOT benefit the consumer.
Probably each railcar is so short that it fits way in the gaps [spaces between two contact or third rails]. The gaps at [ground] railroad crossings are wide. Without an extra pair of railcars, a two-car train must run at full speed, unless the train has motor inverters (of the 5000 or 7000 series rail cars) to keep the traction motors alive.
