This song is actually a cover of the original by TK, which is also an absolute masterpiece, but damn does Ado do an amazing job covering the song and putting her own twist on it!

TK was the original composer of this song, and he created it for the "Tokyo Ghoul" animated version OP
"Tokyo Ghoul" is a dark fantasy comic about monsters that look like humans but eat human "Ghoul" in the modern Tokyo stage.
The story is about the protagonist, who was originally a human, but unexpectedly became a 'ghoul', struggling to survive between two races and experiencing conflicts between species.
The lyrics reflect the protagonist's mood.
It can be seen that Ado fully immerses emotions in the song, even if you don't understand the lyrics

Ado is a vocal monster. She is the kind of vocalist that embodies any character that is needed for the song, and she can sing the hell out of anything thrown at her.
Especially paired with great writing, such as Ussewa, Syudou is a great lyricist.
I fell in Love with her Voice since the first Time I heard her . Ado is just unreal .

This song is a cover song. ado sings live with vocal arrangements added. The original version of this song is difficult to cover, and it is so famous that it can be called a legend, so I was hoping that ADO would cover it. I think that's the reason for the unusual reaction from the audience. Ado Cover always exceeds expectations.

She's an absolute master of her unique voice and with every song that she creates or covers she's getting better and better with it- I could say she "unravels" her voice more and more! "Uravel" is an Opening song to Tokyo Ghoul made by a man called TK and his One Take is great as well! Speaking about Ado- she's an "Utaite" which means despite her amazing singing ability she never reveals her face to public. She does do a great job and I really love Ado but it in no way replaces Tk but there is now a great female version of the song cuz of Ado

On your comment about a 'battle within oneself', this song was the opening theme for the anime Tokyo Ghoul, and it nails perfectly the conflict the main character goes through. You don't even have to go past the first episode for the impact of the song to hit hard.

My personal favourites from Ado are: Fleeting Lullaby, Backlight, Ibara, All Night Radio, Show, Ready Made, FREEDOM, and Crime and Punishment (cover). The new-ish song DIGNITY, is also very beautiful.
Ado is all about the vocal mastery, freedom of expression, and transmission of emotion. She just hits you so hard aurally and emotionally. Even if you have no idea what the lyrics are, you just know what she's singing about. She'll also sing pretty much any kind of song, so you never get bored being an Ado fan.
It’s so beautiful to see the meaning behind the music being felt here. “A battle within oneself” Is so beautifully portrayed through her emotion in this performance and it’s exactly how the show portrays the original song. WOW.
you gotta check out Ado's Tot Musica and Where The Wind Blows, two very different styles but both so beautiful

Original Unravel from TK is absolute masterpiece, i listen to it every morning as my mood booster since i knew that song, now Ado covers it, i think I'll listen 2 unravel versions every morning 😂.

Great reaction, is awesome that you had not heard of her before this so listen, everyone will recommend Show, Tot Musica, Crime and Punishment or Ussewa which is her exiting and impacting stuff and they are all great!!, but I really recommend Himawari which is a heavily underlooked mellow song of her!!
TK did a fantastic job creating this great song. The way ADO brings the feelings and emotions of the main character of the story to the front and center of the song is nothing short of amazing. It makes me actually feel the fear, anxiety, pain, rage, sorrow, and loneliness the character goes through in the story. The main character has a major internal struggle with one side being the gentle and caring human while the other side is an instinctive hunter of food (humans) that desperately needs to rampage with no regard to the human species. The constant battle in his mind is brought to life with this rendition of the already great song.
You should definitely watch more ado, everything she touches is amazing. Tot musica and gira gira are two you should check out.

That is EXACTLY what this song is about. Soft tones are for the normal, dark haired kaneki, the scream-y rock-y parts are the white haired, insane kaneki iirc.

Love Ado! She has so much texture and emotion in her vocal style, not to mention an undeniable talent. I definitely recommend pretty much everything from her. Some of my favs: Tot Musica, Ussewa, Crime and Punishment, Odo, Blacklight, Show, I'm a Controversy. There's many more and I really don't think I heard anything from here that's less than fantastic, but those are my top songs from her, I think.

Watching this performance exhausts me, like the first time you paused I was out of breath with tears streaming down my face, absolutely gripping.
I have a vivid memory of being made to perform for a group as a kid and the only way they calmed me down was to put up a curtain for me to play behind, so I have a soft spot for performers like her or maynard or gorillaz etc who need a bit less focus from the crowds but still wanting to do it live for them

Unravel is a amazing song and the original was done by TK for the anime Tokyo Ghoul. So this is Ado covering the song. I would highly, highly recommend listening to Ado's original songs, Show is a recent song she put out and is amazing, another amazing cover of she did is Aishite Aishite Aishite.
Again I'd highly recommend listening to some of her other music because Unravel doesn't showcase the full breath of what Ado can do, and nothing against Unravel, it's beautiful, but Ado is unbelievably expressive, and diverse in her singing.

This is the opening of an anime that is really popular way back then and my favorite anime opening songs
The song especially the scream is what the protagonist of the anime "Tokyo ghoul" felt when it's too heavy for him to carry the weight of the new world he lives in and it all burst out when his human friend died ( well he didn't die ) he just thought he did.
I literally cried when i heard the scream it has the same emotional vibes as of The original singer TK plus the additional screams make it more emotional like "Tokyo ghoul" had a special part in her heart.
One of the best, if not THE best cover that exists.
I started to know Ado, when he performed the soundtrack for the anime film One Piece: RED. and all the songs in the film are very, very cool. I hope that in the future I can react to Ado's other songs, I recommend the one piece movie RED soundtrack❤

The song is heartbreaking, but where she brings her almost passionate anger feeling towards the sorrow in this song, tk makes me feel the sadness in an almost longing way.
