Dave: "are you putting parm on it?"
Me: oh no...
He's gotta know better
"You want cheese or not, pal?"
9.1 to an 8.4 REAL Quick...
The rain and the owner breathing down his neck was justified...😢
Dave is so basic. You'd think someone put hot peppers on his pizza.
9.1 before the sprinkle of cheese. 8.7 before the rain. 8.4 before the owner breathing down his neck. Everyone knows how Dave plays the variable...
You got the right idea, but realistically based on those variables, it's more like 8.4, to 8.3, to 8.2 respectively, before the final 8.1 score
No, usually the owner over the shoulder bumps the score UP
But he got that +0.5 for charity work.

My new pet peeve.. The owner standing next to Dave while he’s given the review.
New? I’ve been tired of it for months.
@@jrod1591Months? I've been tired of this for years
@ same but I was giving the benefit of the doubt to any new followers. I’ve only been watching for a year.
@ honestly if I were Dave, I would set a precedent:
You are losing a point if you are standing with me, at least.
Or don’t even do the review.
This has to stop.
This one looked weird with the way he followed him out so closely. But he shows the footage where they were talking inside so they were clearly talking for a little bit inside there. Pretty natural to follow him out and witness the review first hand.
10+ years into it and Scott is still calling everything sprinkled on top, parm. Everybody knows the rules.
Who's Scott?

This makes my heart happy. I live in the neighborhood, this place is a gem in the area. So happy they gave it the love it deserves. Be well, everyone!
If you live in the area and like the spot, I’m not sure if that score is a good thing for you…

I was there last month. Definitely an 8.4 - 8.6 pizza. Is it Sally’s or Modern Apizza? No, but it is really close. Very cool vibe inside too.
I guessed 8.6!
The rain
I guessed 8.4
Been there before. Definitely mid-8's
Hi
He reacted like it was a 7.2 then gave it a 8.1
Cause the owner was there
The place is legit tho
Score got juiced. How can this guy not know to remove the parm & pecorino. Rookie
@sethtanner1 perhaps he's busy running a business instead of watching every video of a dude in search of the blandest pizza of all time.
@@estebancuatro5679no Dave was considering it without overreacting in front of the owner. Looked exactly like a legit 8.1, and he even said it would be 8.3 without the pecorino
Do these owners not watch the reviews??? Standing next to Dave during the entire review is just weird, give the man some space and let him do his thing.
Amen. So gross.
Auto .3 bump. Its business. If he gave a lower score for standing there nobody would. Scott rigged the game. The owners just play it.
@grapetonenatches186 That's an interesting point. They'd have to be kind of sociopathic for this to be the case, but you may be right.
Right! No pressure at all. Anyway Dave made the place very happy.
lol, that like getting mad if wendys gives me a water cup and i fill it with cherry dr pepper.
I was fuming, watching the guy stand there. Nobody knows the f'ing rules.
Really? You were angry? That's a bit much but you're right the guy should let Dave be.
Dave's doing the lord's work one review at a time. This score is going to change that guy's life!

I love when they put the music at the beginning AND the end!

That pizza is legit. Just by the looks, it's in the 8's. 8.5 great pie. Good job Eda's!
Looks are only half of the equation. It's the TASTE the matters, and we haven't tasted it (unless you have). I've had pizzas that look fantastic but don't taste any better than a Red Barron.
Dave brings JOY to pizza makers the way Santa brings JOY to little kids. What a super dude!
Owner breathing down your neck to bump the score, everyone knows the rules.
I've taken out pizza from Eda's a couple times and have also been to Pepe's and a couple of the other well known apizza places around New Haven. I basically agree with the review, although I like the Pecorino Romano. It's not as good as the best New Haven places, but it is similar enough in style to satisfy me until my next visit to New Haven.
That looked like a legit 8.1 to me, I'm a New Haven area guy and that easily passed the eye test.
Did it pass mustard
What the hell makes New Haven "The Standard" ? From a guy brought up on Celest and Stouffers frozen pizza which he has said he will never forget them .🤮
You have to eat it to understand it. Portnoy said Sally's is the best pizza in the world, me and a good chunk of CT agree. The rest of the state prefers either Pepe's or Modern. It's totally unique.
I'm glad this pizza passed "mustard". Chris seems like a nice guy.
btw, mustard on pizza is delicious. must try if you haven't yet.

7.9 vibes all day.
It is an 8.6. Ppl tested it before
Doesn't proper New Haven pizza start at like an 8.0?
I wonder if the Pres knows it's pizza week in New Haven. Lol
Deduct .1 for standing next to Dave during the review. Deduct .1 for the parm. Real score 7.9. Everyone knows the rules.
He already deducted those points lol You forgot rain also
sure but who knows. you personally might try the pizza and give it an 8.4 and an 8.2 after your deductions.
It was pecorino, deduct 4, blech
"One owner all in your kool-aid the ENTIRE review, NOBODY knows the rules" should be the new slogan.
Parmesan you might as put a side of ranch with it 🙄
8.3 without the parm sprinkled on top but 8.1 is a pretty legit score. It looked spot on to me.
"Are you putting parm on it?" "That's not a New Haven thing is it?"
That's all you need to know about Dave. The main cheese on New Haven pizza is pecorino Romano, some literally only have that cheese. 🤡
It's shocking right? Like how doesnt he know this, he scored sallys and franks over 9, they both use it, Ive seen them build pizzas with it, because its fucking delecious.
@@Clyde__Frog They pecorino the sauce layer before the mootz goes on. its how it should be. Dave seeing the pecorino visually instantly gets you an 8.1 lol.
@ Fair enough, it is wierd to put it on top, I just find it almost disrespectful that he doesnt know the difference between Pec and Parm. I bet all his 9 plus scores have pecorino in the recipe.

Yeah not liking parm and romano is bizarre
Nah that was mid 7s. Dave upped the score because of the charity
@@nundulan Funny thing is in New Haven literally every pie has Pecorino on the sauce layer before the moots. But what do i know, im just a novice pizza eater from canada lol.
@@deaconhemp dude just doesn't like it if he can see it, like my 4 year old lol
I thought Pecorino Romano (not parmesan) is a staple topping on NH pizza? I see its a bit wet/shiny/oily maybe? Could have had more char on the bottom maybe..
Right!
But expert Dave doesn't know that
That's hilarious if true. I don't know a lot about New Haven pizza because I have no intention in going there just to have pizza. I'm from NJ and have had amazing pizza in NJ, Philly, and NYC. It's never going to be worth it to me to travel that far to try pizza. I hope you're right because Dave is definitely clueless. Putting parm and some olive oil on top is a great addition to great pizza but this guy is so turned off by parm its ridiculous.
You thought wrong. Everyone knows the rules. Lol
The reaction was like a 7.4 wasn't expected the monster score
Chris doesn't know Dave hates the "parm" tisk tisk
Dave. The real OGs know that was a 7.7. Run it back. You're too generous these days ;)
First bite... you can see him think "oh no".
😂🤣😅
The way he kept taking more bites lol I Loooooove their pizza pies! Compliments to the Chef 🤌
If you could find that pizza in the San Francisco Bay Area it'll be $45 1 bite everyone knows the rules
And then you’ll be greeted by a bum taking a shit on the sidewalk as you walk out
Tony's in North Beach SF does a proper New Haven pie in a real vintage coal bakery oven, a lot of people consider it the best you can get outside of New England. Not quite that bad on price but I think it starts around $30.
You would also have to step over a steaming pile of homeless shit to get in the door.
I GUESSED 8.1 RIGHT ON THE MONEY BABY
"We've been jooauking about this since we opened." "I haoupe so." - No way this guy was born and raised in New Haven with that Philly accent.

Is it always a pizza bereft of toppings??
I posted a similar inquiry!
Everybody knows the rules.
yes cheese pizza is the gold standard. it's basic and something every pizza place offers.
If you mean “only cheese” the answer is yes!
Because if you can't make a tasty pie with just cheese, you cant make a tasty pie.
Literally into new haven pizza because of you. Was there yesterday
Would've been a 7.8 without calling it new haven style and without rain. It was probably a 7.6 with the rain, but calling it new haven plus the owner being there with the charity implications drove it to an 8.1
I've had it, it's a legit New Haven style. Dave even said so.
Dave really wanted to give that a 7.8
Dave was really considering giving it a 7.9 because of the Parm, but the pressure of the owner hovering made him bump it to the 8.1. Everybody knows the rules.
The parm would have been a lame reason for a 7.9 score anyway. It shouldn't be that difficult for a reviewer with an idiosyncratic aversion to parm to factor out that element and give the pizza a score that will be useful to the vast majority of viewers.
That's why this place will never compete with Sally's. Sally's would never use Parm. Everyone knows the rules!
