I just wanted to reiterate here that this is not meant to represent "the perfect" capsule wardrobe for the Soft Dramatic type! It is meant to demonstrate a few elements that you can incorporate into your wardrobe to complement the SD body type while staying true to your personal style and occasionally breaking the rules 🥰 This capsule is heavily inspired by a real SD client who wanted some SD outfit options but didn't want to feel stuck in the "box" created by her body type. I encourage you all to learn more about your body types, but never to feel boxed in. Let's break the rules sometimes!
This was great - as a Dark Winter Soft Dramatic living in a hot climate, it’s been so hard to just follow all the rules but I’ve def found ways bend the rules by finding unique shapes of staple pieces or searching for them in diff fabrics
This was amazing! I have been looking for content like this because I’m a soft dramatic and everything thats trendy right now makes me look so boxy. I found that all the outfits I found make me look too dressed up to too dressed down. The examples you showed are SO HELPFUL!!! Please make more content for soft dramatics. Maybe a fall look book?
I’m so happy you liked it! A fall lookbook for soft dramatics sounds like a great idea! I’d love to hear more about your personal style too, maybe I can try to show some ideas that you would like ☺️
@@alyssarudman yes I would absolutely love that! My style is composed of a lot of collars like button down shirts and blazers. I would describe it as effortless chic and since I have a vertical line as a soft dramatic I love wearing monochrome or tonal outfits. I’m a soft summer in terms of my colouring. I live in Canada so I’m usually dressing for fall/winter. I like elegant clothing but also androgynous/men’s wear inspired (hence the blazer lol)
exactly, same! the trends don't fit my body type cause they're too streetwear which means a lot of hanging shirts, boxy crop-tops, oversized everything, etc.
Chunky shoes of ANY kind do NOT fit the SD profile by Kibbe. My skin crawled when I saw that only ONE of the four pairs of shoes actually fit SD recommendations. It would have been nice to have even 2 out of 4 rather than just the one. I have long, narrow feet (size 11 AA) and so long as my shoes compliment my feet...ie the long narrow aspect...I find I can wear flats and heels, including loafers and driving shoes for comfort that honor the SD type. Chunky boots are out because nothing about them speak "long and narrow", thus looking completely out of place in a SD wardrobe.
@@joannathesinger770Eeeh? I find that chunky boots and heavier soles look fantastic on me. Slim shoes make me look like I’ve got pig feet. Big curvy body, itty bitty little tippy tappy feet.😂 Unless the fit is covering up most of the shoe.
Thanks so much as a soft dramatic and a soft autumn, i needed a push in the right direction. I tend to look scruffy in my casual clothes and your examples look smart and casual with a bit of sexiness. Love it!
I'm a Soft Dramatic and a Jewel Winter in the house of color system. I'm so glad I found your channel, this is so helpful. I'm 31, a mom to a toddler and I split my week working from home (athleisure) and working at a museum (business casual with creative freedom)- I'm also mid/plus sized (16). Its been hard to figure out how to dress well but getting my colors done recently have helped. I really liked that you validated my struggle with tops- having a heavy chest and smaller ribcage makes it hard because wearing a strapless bra for one shoulder or off the shoulder styles isn't realistic. I rely on a lot of wrap styles but V necks get old eventually. I've been seeing lots of those ruched styles and I never considered them but I'll try some on and see what I think. Your channel will be an amazing resource for me, I'm off to watch all your videos! Thank you!
Your lifestyle sounds like it offers opportunities for so many different types of outfits! I totally relate to the feeling of getting bored with one type of neckline. Look for other types of vertical elements, like the vertical ruched detail, that can draw the eye in that vertical line that is so flattering for you! Medium to deep cowl neck tops are also gorgeous, and I also love scoop neck or turtleneck tops on soft dramatics too 🥰
@@alyssarudman i am! I finally pinned it down. I have a small waist but larger hips and a narrow frame, and am 5’7 so think I fit this category best. Such an interesting categorization we can use in my opinion.
That is super idea for videos! Thank you! I like how you combine things together although I wish you included full range of accessories in your capsules, would love to see your styling ideas in full power! Thanks again! Subscribed
I’m a Soft Classic dark autumn with Dramatic essence. I prefer styles of Soft Dramatic & I feel like it accurately describes my personality & general vibe I want to give off.. so I do intentionally & selectively incorporate it with my soft classic wardrobe, creating my own personal style. It’s appears incredibly harmonious.
Yes!! I love taking inspiration from neighboring Kibbe types depending on personal style preferences! I do the same with the Dramatic and Soft Natural, although I generally do follow FN guidelines. Your style sounds amazing! I would love to see some of your favorite outfits 🥰
Where were the wide leg tailored pants from? I’ve been searching for similar and would love to check if there is availability, or if they have anything similar in stock.
Hi! They are the Veronica Beard Sunny Linen Pant 🥰 Unfortunately they are sold out. I just updated all of the links that I could find in-stock or alternates for. Thank you for reminding me!
So glad you're enjoying the videos! I've been typed by others (not Kibbe) as a Flamboyant Natural, although I am 5'4". I know for sure I'm in the Natural family, and I have some sharp/dramatic facial features so I tend to think that I should dress for FN even though I'm on the shorter side. I have very wide shoulders compared to the rest of my frame, narrower hips, and the line from my shoulders to knees appears long - these are probably the main factors that helped me understand I'm a Natural. Would love to know what you think! If you ever want some help with typing you can always DM me on Instagram @waardrobe_ 🥰
Love this video. I think I am a Soft Dramatic. I am 5'9", so I definitely have vertical. I am also curvy. I don't really like typical soft dramatic style though. I appreciate how you tried to avoid SD stereotypes. I would love to see a another capsule wardrobe/ style video for Soft Dramatic types with fair and light coloring, since this coloring is the opposite of the usual SD examples - Sofia Vergara and Sofia Loren with their dark hair, olive skin and very glamorous, bold and sexy styles and patterns which overwhelm women with very fair skin and minimal contrast in their coloring.
Soft dramatic here - Nice video however the bags are way too small for us I am 5'9" and small to medium sized bags look like toys in my hand hahaha oversized satchels, totes and clutches with curved lines are best for us. Sophia V. Loves big bags as well 🥰💃🏾
As an SD (long narrow limbs, feet, hands on a 5'11" frame with semi-exotic features and a fleshy waist), and someone who LOVES the comfort of jeans, I wanted to like this capsule...except I NEVER wear bare shoulders and decidedly NEVER wear clodhopper foot attire. I might could go for the sweatshirt if it were out of a drapey-er fabric and long enough (at least hip length) with no band at the bottom. I've got very wide shoulders and I enjoy showcasing them...because it puts the rest of my body in proportion. I NEVER wear cropped anything (and anxiously await that lousy trend disappearing) so the short orangish jacket is a no-go. It would emphasize fat where I'm fattest...but I do like the color. There were a few things I could implement into an SD casual capsule wardrobe...and that part was helpful, but there were at least 50% misses that I would definitely have to rethink.
That’s totally okay! Most of these capsule examples are for real clients with real preferences that don’t always align with the general Kibbe guidance, so it’s totally expected that others won’t connect 100% with the capsule 🥰 I hope you found inspiration in at least one or two pieces though!
Great job! I believe the clothes were spot on but I disagree with the jackets & shoes. I understand trying to branch outside the official recs, but these break basic rules. Shorter, wider & puffy jackets that don't show curves & break up the vertical--just totally unflattering. Medium length when it comes to sleeves, skirts, dresses, pants; everything either very short or long. Also, the shoes need to be pointed and slimmer. Anything bulky just looks off. I really appreciate the concept of combining with the color season too, since clothes can't be divorced from their color. Love this video
loved the green dress and the color pallet, although gray is a matter of taste, some of your outfits looked like you were not considering a tall elongated person, Keep up the good work
A lot of these these things you put that break tradition just feels opposite of works on a soft dramatic I wish you created one where you follow all the rules
Girl,i'm sorry but no, the sleeveless dress is a no go for most SD's since it'll make their shoulders look heavy, the cotton grey sweatshirt isn't too good either because the material is too heavy for SD and the orange jacket is a no go- it's definitely too short - SDs don't look good in short tops, they need tops that cover their hips to elongate their silouette otherwise they often appear fat and bulky. Kibbe recommends things that accentuate the waist and make the body appear more elongated for SD, because the goal is to make them look slimmer and taller as they often look chubbier than they in fact are when they wear clothes for other body types (for example natural types)
My intent isn’t to show only items that are considered “perfect” for a certain type but to show some ideas and concepts within a creative and stylish wardrobe 🥰 I love your username by the way!
Yes! That was what I was thinking through this whole video. Only the flare jeans were right. Chunky shoes, no tops with waist definition and color blocking? Breaking the rules would be disastrous for me. There are so many gamine pieces.
