How to fix your Gopro session! Hard Factory reset from files!

- In this little tutorial I'll teach u how to fix your GoPro session 4 and maybe it works on the 5 as well!
Steps:
1 Remove the sd card from your camera
2 Format it
3 Copy the two files from this download link on Facebook onto your sd card
(Cannot find a way to upload on facebook yet, but simply create two .txt files, the first called "cal.txt" with "_tapp factory_reset" written in it, the second one named "no_shutdown.txt" with "2_mode=0" in it!)
4 Put the sd card back into the camera
5 Press the shutter button
6 Wait like 8 seconds and it's gonna start flashing and doing its thing
7 When it is done format your sd card again and your camera should work like a charm!!

Worked liked a champ. Thanks man. Still valuable info 2 years later. I almost threw my Session in the garbage. BTW - GoPro made a mistake dropping the Session line. Everybody who flies quads still wants this form factor.

It doesn't work with my Hero4 Session. The problem is that my GoPro doesn't look like dead, but it doesn't read any micro SD and when I put one in, it says "busy" (but it's actually empty) and I have to force the turn off. Any suggestion?
How do you create a txt file on the SD card? Im looking at 4 different web browsers. This seems so confusing.....

When I put the sd card back in the camera and press the shut button, it automatically starts the video recording, but it doesn't happen to me that it starts flashing after 8 seconds.

nice work, everyone keeps saying just hold on to the on button for 10 secs. That's only the wifi password. this hard resets the whole camera, definitely needed if you buy an old camera like i did.
Didnt work for my Session4 (firmware 2.00) :-// Format done under MacOS (ExFat), and to compare under Windows (Fat32). Any ideas how to force that? After hitting RECORD button (with SD with files inside) actually nothing happens.
I'm stuck here too. Pretty sure GoPro has deliberately discontinued all support and compatibility, and essentially just bricked these devices, trying to force us to upgrade. Planned obsolescence at its finest.
Mine too is kind of bricked at this point, doesn't react to resets anymore, maybe there is some internal circuit battery failing or stuff like that

Sorry but i don't have fb and i have the same problem with my go pro session. Could i find the two files without a fb account? As i see everyone who tried your way had the problem fixed. So you did that what GoPro couldn't so please help me.

hi @rimzler thanks for the video , i have a question about gopro hero 5 Session , When I am connected wirelessly to my Session from smart phone, after about 10 minutes of no activity, it beeps and flashes several times and then turns off. How can I keep it from turning off ever ? please help me
There should be an auto power off function in settings, 5,15,30 m or off , the battery in sessions is small and this is to save power, also try on the phone app if u don't find it in session menu

I had SD error and "busy" Error. What worked for me was to format the sd card in the pc as the wrong format on purpose and then when inout it into gopro the gopro will reformat the card and that fixed my problems

I fear there is no fix for that😢 try recording in 4:3 on those and use GoPro studio, might help with quality

i found the problem, is not the shutter bottom, is the wifi bottom and then you got the message factory reset restored
My session 4 won't turn on or charge light won't come in any help. Please bland display
I have GoPro Hero 4 Session. It worked. But, to change the Name and Password, I wanted to do Factory Reset again.
However, it does not do it. It keeps the old info. Is this procedure a "one time" thing? Or, do we need to make changes in the files for a second Reset?

I teared a part a gopro and i thought i broke it because when i plug the usb it turns on but in seconds turns off.. or u try to record and it turns off.. and i thought i did somthibg wrong i connected battery again and it works perfecty i leaved on like 30 min recording it works perfect but when i power it external it just cant record... is gopro hero 5 black
Maybe your external power supply is not strong enough
@@Rimzler i turned out i wasnt to loww but it was to high amp...my first adapter was 2 amp 5v ....... i got an other usb adapter 5v 1amp.... and worked but i cant get the correct voltage from beta85 in thiss case from any other way... i tried 5v from reciever ... 5v from led ..it turns off when u press record so my only solution was battery on board and works perfectly and ittssss nottt tooo much weight more ,,,,and u dont suck battery from drone.. maybe thats good thank uu man

do you hold down the shutter button? because mine didnt do nothing at all ...it just made 1 beep everytime i pushed the button....and yes i coded the text right....i tried 2 times...i even tried holding down and nothing
Just pushed it, try long pressing , but maybe it is another issue u are having

My GoPro session took a very very hard fall and now it will turn on and shut of right away and keep doing tha in a loop without any input

Facebook didn't let me upload them! Just create a .txt text file on your pc and it's fine!

для GoPro Hero4 Session нужно в обоих файлах после кода добавить по одной пустой строчке и сохранить файл, потом проверить,чтоб пустая строчка действительно была. Потом вставить карту памяти во включенную камеру со светящимся дисплеем и нажать на 7 секунд кнопку записи, после этого камера перезагрузится. если флэшку вставить в выключенную камеру - ничего не произойдет
Eah! Working goood! You need to add an empty second line in the files. and also insert a memory card with the camera ON with a luminous display and press the record button for 7 seconds.

Remove the memory card from your GoPro camera, insert it into a laptop or computer card reader, format, then copy two files to it. Safely remove the memory card from the card reader. Take the camera, turn it on without a memory card, insert a memory card and hold down the record button for 7 seconds, it should reboot. Actually, none of this is required. When Gopro Hero Session is powered off, hold the menu button for 10 seconds and the factory reset yes/no option appears.
That trick only resets the wifi settings, not the entire camera.
