  • Round 2 on the Goldwing builds, but i may have bitten off more than I can chew on this one, but I'm starting to see where this bike wants to go. Between the stamped frame and the 50lb of wires , This one is going to be the hardest bike to pull off yet.
    I believe I have the rear figured out in my head but i am still open to suggestions on the front half. It will be a 2 up bike and a moderate budget bike. but i will not be getting into the full frame modification like i did with project redwing. Just some simple smoothing and removing tabs and such.
    I have not ordered anything yet so if you have a great suggestion for this let me know.

      I hope to get going on it here again soon. I won't go as crazy as the last builds but it should be cool.

    Still working on my 1500 “cafe” build, however I’m excited to see what you do with this one. I’m glad I’m not suffering through a build on this bike alone. As for bars I got a set of Pro Taper bars. Renthal also has the 1 1/8” bars. Not quite drag bars, but close. I’m still going through the wiring and determining the best way to hide it all. Best of luck brother can’t wait for the next video.

      Oof a cafe out this pig is a tall ask. I didn't realize the frames were this ugly. But yeah I'm probably starting on the wiring diet this week in hopes to get itdown to less stuff in the way to see the frame and engine.
      Thanks for the heads up on the bars. I thought they looked big for 1".

    There is not a lot of gl1500 customs out there at all if any and no bobbers. I have a 94 gl1500 aspencade and it's completely stock with 17000 miles I'd hate to tear into mine like this but I'd love to grab another and do that! Definitely going to be following the progress on this!

      I see why now, that's for sure. The frame is UGLY and awkward. Been a little sidetracked with getting stuff cleaned up and with spring here, but hope to get into the project soon here.

    wow! Pressure washing electronics, engine and bearings. What can possibly go wrong..

      Have you ever rode in the rain? Guaranteed that has done more damage to what ever you're concerned about with washing this filthy bike off.

    Looks like a fun project. Make sure you do the timing belts if you don't have a history on them. These are interference engines and if the timing belt breaks the engines junk

      Yes for sure. I will never understand why interference engines are a thing but race car stuff I guess.

      There's a set of Valkyrie stock mufflers not too far away on FB but I do want to be louder than stock, so idk what I'm going to do yet.

    If you still have any of the blue plastic parts I’m interested in buying some.

    This is going fo be fun fo watch. I liked what you did with the other one. Where are you from? Wisconsin?

    • @backwoodscustoms
      @backwoodscustoms  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah Southern WI. This won't be as wild as the last gl, I'm hoping to keep this one more "mainstream" but still add some punk to it.

      @@backwoodscustoms Sounds like you have a great plan. Im southern MN, lack of snow and cold this year has been interesting. I'll be watching, looking forward to the progress.

      @@backwoodscustoms Not sure how far south you are in Wisconsin, but there's a motorcycle repair shop in northern Illinois called Bear's Cycle and Restoration that may have parts if you need. They're also a Randakk's approved rebuilder for carburetors.

      @@maxxbradshaw4271 he's not too far away. I lll have to give him a call when I get the intake and exhaust figured out and see about jetting. Thanks for the heads up there

    You got something against Goldwings? You keep destroying them

    • @backwoodscustoms
      @backwoodscustoms  Месяц назад +1

      Destroying them?? The first one was sold for $20 at an auction. Because no one wanted it.
      This one was laying on its side behind a shed covered with plywood. Id argue I'm saving them. Giving them a new life. Otherwise both of these would have been your next beer can.
