My grandfather used to grow oats for his dairy cows and my mom and her siblings would strip a ripe head of oats off the stalk and chew on that (during the depression there wasn't much money for things like gum).
Your comment makes me think about Matthew 12:1 “At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.” Does anyone know what raw wheat tastes like? Would it turn to gum?
I just tried natural chicle gum last week. It's a lot softer and lighter than than the artificial stuff. You almost have to be careful not to accidentally swallow it because it's so soft. The flavor also last a lot longer and it doesn't get that gross stale taste that other gums get, once it loses its flavor.
The Cubs' connection with the Wrigley family remains strong, even after they sold the team. They still play their home games in Wrigley Field, the oldest major-league baseball stadium in the USA.

In the mid 1970s, Bubblicious and Bubble Yum were competitors. Someone spread the rumor that Bubblicious had spider webs in it. If you pulled a piece of Bubblicious apart, it looked like little web strands, but was sugar, like cotton candy. Bubblicious nearly stopped being made. They had to drop the price so far it made almost no money. Bubble Yum, however, raised prices. They kept raising prices so much that people stopped buying it. Then, gum makers started selling gum for fresh breath and the two competitors got left in the dust. The final move was that these two changed their recipes. They were smaller pieces and more rubbery. We who once blew 18" bubbles by eating a whole pack no longer got the joy since 5" was as big as the new recipes can do, no matter how many packs we shoved in our mouths.

How about a Biographics on Karen Carpenter? Pretty please? Some people might be unaware that she was a very talented drummer, and that she recorded a solo album which her family forbade her to release (it was slightly risque and her family didn't want to spoil her wholesome image).
During the Allied occupation of Germany in the immediate years after the 2nd great war the city urchins would pick the discarded already masticated gum to "remint and repackage" often in quite good representation of the original and sell them back to allied soilders. @@jezeski2011 Duke Nukem is an old game series, similar to DOOM. (I think it was originally a clone). But unlike DOOM it didn't get a critically acclaimed HD addtion in the series. and fun fact: Bayer synthesized Aspirin and Heroin at around the same time (?1898?) and found Heroin to have greater analgesic properties (and the faux-dopamine rich euphoria associated with it made the user feel heroic, hence the name) so they pushed it as a non-addictive painkiller for decades while Aspirin mostly sat on the shelf. That was until it was proven to cause rampant addiction and Aspirin finally got it's time to shine. Almost 100 years later the pharm companies did the same exact thing with oxycodone.
