Eric, please consider hiding the "chapters" section, there's a bit of a spoiler there with the game result. Good luck with the final game of the tournament!
Your work rate is an inspiration for me, above and beyond your presentation style, ability to explain / teach chess strategy and consistency in output. Thank you again, Eric.
after the blunder i tried finding the winning sequence but couldn't all the way, but i felt so good because i decided only one move made sense, then unpaused to see if i was right, paused again, and ended up correctly saying every next move for both sides. wouldn't have won in a real game but i feel so good about finding the whole line step by step :D
Wow, what a rollercoaster of a game! That Scotch sideline was sharp, and the middlegame had me on the edge of my seat. I can't believe neither of you saw that blunder in the endgame! Talk about a lucky escape. Great analysis as always!
I am a 1300 rapid rating player, and I found the right sequence very quickly. I do think it is much easier when you are not in the heat of battle, though. Also, I had the benefit of knowing that it was a blunder, which meant that there was something for me to find. That is one problem with using chess puzzles as prep; not every position in a real game has a completely winning move, so it is easier to overlook the opportunity when it arrives.
proud of myself for finding the winning line (at least I saw c2 Rxe6 fxe6 Kg2 g4 b4 f5 and thought it was possibly winning for black although I didn't calculate all the way to both sides promoting and black mating.
Honestly, it's shocking for a gm to miss that line. But I guess it happens. The whole idea is fairly obvious, but i have the advantage of knowing there is something there
Eric I gotta say, it's a bit unfortunate that we can't tell what video is coming by the preview, i enjoy your OTB videos but I can't always tell them apart from others that I might skip every once in a while. Perhaps just a small graphic or text would be helpful to distinguish between kinds of videos.
I saw it instantly after the rook move. I definitely would’ve been way too focused on the rooks in a game though. There just weren’t really any better moves.
@@bhough410 Haha, surely not. Eric and all higher-up players are monsters in opening theory and middle game. I just happen to be quite good in end games.
When in doubt.. Push dat Pawn!
"Push em baby" -Legendary American Grand Master
The result is showing in the top left corner the whole time 😢
Im proud I found c2 but I wasnt confident. the move I did not find was g4. Nice sequence, happy it worked out for you Eric!
Yep. Same.
C2 without g4 in this position is nothing, because it could even be losing without the right follow up
@@Ism0Lait3la thanks for your insight…

Another great review Eric! Good luck on your next round
Another interesting and instructive game, Eric. Thank you.

you literally sound like chatgpt lol
Was it? With the exception of the ending it seemed a very chill game to me
Chill for others is probably "terror" for me ;-) @@tedpaul8391
Why do I always notice these winning moves when watching games being analyzed, but then I'm hardstuck 1200...
Nobody tells you to pause the video when you play.
I found first move push pawn seems obviously but that all line just to long what 10+moves
You found c2 only or you found the line until ...g4 with the idea of ...e5?
There is absolutely no world in which a 1200 correctly evaluated that position
@@Mathijs_A it's not that crazy, especially when you're told that the position is completely winning
good luck with the final round!

Always nice to draw vs a GM!! Well done Eric!!!!

Yay! I was considering that pawn.
Rip beard
i paused and found the line, omg for bad player like me this boosts my confidence.

What if he plays D4 instead of knight E4?
"It's not the easiest line to find" - I suspect if it was, then you or your GM opponent would have found it!
miss is really missed there
I found first move push pawn seems obviously but that all line just to long what 10+moves
B8 (Q) is a blunder. Rd7 looks better. But maybe not, as long as Black's king remains centralized and keeps harassing white's rook.
Definitely the sexiest chess player!
Eric, it would be "better" not to show the result in the chapters ;-)
:)
I noticed, Eric isn't that strong in end games. I found ..c2 and then g4 with idea e5 without anyone telling me.
Considering his GM opponent didn't find it either it seems you're probably well on your way to racking up some GM norms.

He definitely dodged a bullet.
