Maybe not quite. Giannis, Bridges, Smart, Herb, AD, McDaniels, Jimmy, Embiid -- those are just the guys who did NOT make All-Defense last year
But he will be an All-Defense fixture soon enough if his effort level stays this high.

I mean if he continues like this ausar should no doubt make it, I’d say statistically he’s better then majority of those guys. Also watch him, on ball he’s one of the best in the league already. I’m of the best wing defenders, best shot blocking guard and rebounding is insane.

dude I'm sooooooo psyched for this pistons team. I dunno exactly when it'll fully click and take off ,but for a team to be this young, and this big, I think they have something special on their hands .

seriously, I'm trying not to be too much of a homer fanboy but I was perfectly fine with getting him at #5 - I was really big on him going into the draft, idk. I know it's still way, way, wayyyy too early but I wouldn't be surprised if he can be the 2nd or 3rd best player to end up coming out of that draft behind Wemby. Brandon Miller is looking good so far, but we'll see what Ausar does. He brings a LOT to the table, especially intangibles, and if he can bump up his FG% and become a fairly consistent scorer he could have a very bright future in Detroit. Plus his D and playstyle really fit with where the Pistons culture seems to be going and is imo, a great compliment to Cade & Jalen Duren.

I think both of the Thompson twins will be 2 way studs. Ausar is a PF in a SG body. His athleticism and instincts on defense and rebounding has been great since the first game. Once the offense slows down for him and he gets more comfortable he can be elite on both ends,

Defensively he needs to remain disciplined and not rely on his athleticism as much but that's a small thing. Offensively he's still raw but his work ethic will make him a solid offensive player. The difference between him being a really good player vs being one of the greats is going to come down to his ability to shoot/score.

@@venzbocalan1578Plus minus is scoring margin when a player is on the floor.
Detroit's starters are pretty bad with plus minus and on off numbers but that's mainly due to Alec Burks ridiculous shooting and the fact the offense is abysmal with the Ausar-Killian pairing.
But they have a 105.6 defensive rating when Ausar is on the floor which is bonkers

Amen was higher in mock drafts, but the two have similar skillsets. In fact Ausar is the one who won MVP of the Overtime Elite league, so it's by no means clearcut that one is better than the other. The thing is, Ausar's superb defense is more "NBA-ready" than Amen's on-ball facilitation.
