My grandmother was the special ed resource teacher at Cabell Elementary when the filming was done. The name was changed to Chapel Hill Prep a few years ago. The school was not closed for the filming. At the time the K-3rd grade school was only using about 25% of its classrooms. The 2nd floor and south wing were vacant, so they could film upstairs while the kids were in their first floor main and west wing classrooms. The snow in front of the school was fake, and grandma watched them clean it up when they were done filming. The Dallas school system later converted the vacant wings to administrative offices. After my grandmother retired the school population increased and the entire building was used as a school again. I am glad that you featured the school in the video.
That's so interesting! Thanks for sharing your memories with us! We enjoyed seeing "Braddock High School" in person. The front entrance looks exactly the same as it did in the show (except for the the fake sign, lol!) I still can't get over what a HUGE elementary school it was back in the day, wow!!
I work in the two gold towers from the opening scenes and they used our deli in the small second story behind the tower (8350 N. Central expressway) was called the mall, concourse, mezzanine and now called Loft. The overall property was called Campbell Center now The Gild.
Thanks Brenda! We’re doing the same thing, and loving it!! We’ve had so much fun tracking down the filming locations as we watch. Honestly, watching Dallas has been a real bright spot for us during this whole pandemic. What an entertaining show! We just finished season 7, more videos coming soon!
I have always loved Texas, The Food, The people, Now I'm watching Dallas and love it just as much, Thanks for posting! Dallas gets snow? I had no idea.
Thanks for watching! We have additional videos through season 7 (so far) that you can watch as you go, if you're interested in seeing more filming locations. This was such a fun project for us! We started watching Dallas during the quarantine last year and were instantly hooked. It's SO good!! We're still watching, currently on season 11. And yes, Dallas actually does get snow occasionally. I'm pretty sure the show's producers were surprised by that as well, lol! After season 1, they started filming there in the summertime.
This is fantastic. Im a dallas TV show nut and know all the scenes, watching season 2 again for the countless time. To see these shots is unreal. I have tried googling for some locations but nothing much comes up. Great work on this video, thank you !!!
Thank you so much!! We're glad you are enjoying our videos. It's been like playing detective trying to figure out some of these locations, but that keeps us out of trouble, ha!
Thanks Verna!! We had a LOT of fun making this one (also did tons of editing, but mostly fun.) We ended up learning about so many places that we'd never seen right in our own hometown. Yay Dallas!
How ironic is this. I’ve just started re-watching Dallas on Amazon today 3/8/2021 with my 55 year old eyes vs my 12 year old eyes back in 1978. Growing up in Ft. Worth, Dallas was like really out of town to us. Going thru the old turnpike on 30 was special. I remember being fascinated at the buildings and the ranch portrayed on the series. I’ve lived in Dallas now for about 18 yrs. So I found your channel and was looking for the actual location of Pam’s old apartment...random. I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane.
Awesome, thanks Roderick! I'm glad you found our channel, and welcome aboard! We've been binge-watching Dallas since the whole quarantine thing started, and we're now watching season 7. It's SO good!! Anyway, we didn't include Pam's old apartment in this video because unfortunately the building burned down a number of years ago. But if you're curious about the location, they were called Willow Creek apartments at 9837 N. Central Expressway.
OMG, I'm 55 and just started watching it! I remember it but was too young to be interested, My grandfather took me to southern Texas every year for a whole month, I miss the food, I miss it all.
I love your passion for Dallas - I really enjoyed this video, it was fascinating seeing the locations. I visted Southfork Ranch for my 30th birthday. Dallas means so much to me!
Very cool! Thank you! We visited Southfork for the first time this past fall, and we can't wait to go back. It's such a fun place, with lively tour guides and so many memorable scenes that were filmed there. That's TV history at it's finest. Thanks for stopping by our channel!
Dallas is a everlasting memory of my childhood. Growing up in the 1980s in Austria, the show was a big TV-hit every Thuesday. For me Dallas showed me what is America all about: Fancy clothes, big cars, Skyscrappers, Dollar-money, having a great day at the pool and drinking Champagne in the evening.
Love it!! We're amazed at how popular the show was worldwide! Growing up in Dallas, I remember being asked by visitors from out of town if my family had a cattle ranch or oil wells, lol! We didn't have any of that, but it was a great city to grow up in nonetheless. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! Thanksgiving Square was new to us as well; although, it's been around since 1976. It's a lovely park with water features and even a little chapel. We'll show more of the park area in our season 3 video (coming soon!)
Amazing video guys! Loved the intro!! You guys really hit up a lot of filming locations, it's cool to see how they look now versus when they were used in the show!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! We LOVE doing then & now filming locations videos. Wait until you see our season 2 video (editing now.) It had twice as many locations to visit as season 1, eek! It was a whirlwind few days spent in Dallas, but very fun!
Just stumbled on your video. I was a big fan of Dallas since the miniseries first aired. I was 14 years old at the time. I was hooked. I think Victoria Principal dancing at the disco wearing the while turtleneck had something to do with it. LOL!!!
Thank you so much!! We had lots of fun tracking down the filming locations from Dallas. We're currently working on seasons 4-6 and hoping to make another visit to Dallas in the near future to film those. Stay tuned!
wasnt it difficutl to track down these locations? It is wonderful to see that so many locations is still the same after all these years. IN South Africa everything changed. Nothing is the same except the ministerial buildings and monuments. I enjoyed this video. Thank you. I hope to visit you guys one day before I die and let you give me a tour through Dallas. That will be awesome
Yes, it was difficult to find some of these locations but it was helpful being from Dallas, so many of the places were already familiar to us. If not, we look for clues like street signs or water towers in the background, then we use Google maps to track them down. We actually don't live in Dallas anymore, but we enjoy visiting whenever we can. Our home is in Wichita, Kansas which is about a 6 hour drive north of Dallas.
Wow, guys, just wow! This is amazing! I love all of the editing, the cool intro, the music and everything you added, so much great info! I remember watching Dallas (and Dynasty) way back in the day, but had no idea about all of these tidbits of info and where everything was filmed. Really cool! It's neat that they let you fly your drone over there! I don't think I knew or realized there were two different South Fork locations, cool. You guys put so much work in to this one, looks great, well done!!! Take care and have a wonderful and blessed day ---Stacy 😍💚
Thanks Stacy! We are discovering all kinds of fun facts as we deep dive into the mini-series that truly created a new genre in television. We were pretty young when Dallas aired on TV, so we're basically watching it for the first time. It's crazy to think the filming was happening all over my hometown while I was living there, and I had no clue they used so many local places to film. I do remember my parents driving me out to Southfork a number of times, just to drive by and try and catch a glimpse. I only recently learned of the original ranch in Frisco (which is a short 30 minute drive from the one in Parker, Texas.) It's too bad the house just sits there uncompleted, but flying the drone over there was fun!!
Great video Never saw The Miniseries Tv show Love the intro and I love to see The Then & Now love the filming location Thanksgiving square what never heard of it heard of Time Square😂😂 u guys in the thrift store 😂😂 full watch Thumbs up have a beautiful day guys
Thanks so much! This was a fun one to make! I grew up in Dallas and had never even been to Thanksgiving Square (along with some of the other places.) Pretty cool!
Hi Keith and Abby. Hope you guys remember me. I was gone from YT for two years. Back now. Came to say Hi. Hope you all are staying safe and well. Love your new intro. And you selected some great filming locations. Thumbs up.
oh wow you went there? you guys are so lucky...i wish to go explore places out of kansas..lol thanks for sharing...i get to at least see them from my computer :-) its really pretty and awesome!!! keep it up!! have a lovely sunday guys!!
Yes!! Actually Dallas is our hometown, but we've been living in Kansas for about 15 years or so. It's always fun to go back, and we rarely spend time downtown so we saw some new sights too. Season 2 video just uploaded!
I just started watching your vlog on the Dallas series. How were you able to find all these locations? Was there a book released on this? Great job as well
Hi there, thanks for watching! We're glad you're enjoying our Dallas videos. There's not a book, and it took a LOT of sleuthing! Finding the locations became a fun hobby for us during the quarantine time, lol! Since we're originally from the Dallas area, we were already familiar with many of the places used for filming. We would often rewatch scenes over and over again, scouring the background for signs and landmarks. Google Earth was a HUGE help in this project! In addition, we befriended some sources who had connections with the show and were able to assist us when we got stumped. There are a few places that continue to elude us, but we feel satisfied that we've found most of them.
Thank you for responding back. Been a Dallas fan a long since i remember. However, i was a baby when the first seasons came out. Some said Larry Hagman's ashes were spread at South Fork. Is that rumor true?
@@elvisaustin9553 Yes, we believe so. We know he passed away on November 23, 2012 shortly after filming JR’s death scene in the Dallas reboot which was filmed at Southfork. Since it was Thanksgiving week, his family was already gathered in the area (he’s originally from Ft. Worth.) He was cremated, and we have been told that his ashes were indeed scattered there.
have you been able to get a chance to look into the Aldredge house from the Mini Series ? Still hoping for MORE season to be done as am All caught up with you's
We haven't! It's only open like one weekend per month, and so far it hasn't been the times when we're in town, sigh. It's definitely on our bucket list though! Thanks for sticking with us!
I’ve never noticed that in the picture of Pam splashing Ray, her hair isn’t wet. That’s funny because it happened right after they came up from under the water lol.
@@Our80sLife One of my favorite scenes with Bobby and Pam was when they went to the disco. You could tell that they were truly having fun. Not just acting for the show.
That’s all it was supposed to be originally. By the 5th episode, the BBQ episode, the ratings were so good, CBS ordered 13 episodes for the 1978-79 season, the rest is history.
Great video. One thing I'm curious about is why they stopped using the Alredge house for filming Southfork interior scenes after the mini-series. Was this also down to the owners not wanting anymore filming there, or was it felt that it didn't match the new exterior at Duncan Acres very well - or some other reason? Many thanks if you can answer this for me.
Thanks Steve! Hmm, that's an interesting question. We may need to do some research about that. I'm sure there were multiple factors leading to the change in location. Perhaps after the original mini-series, once the show got picked up for additional seasons, they needed a more permanent solution. The interior sets were created at MGM during season 2, and those were used beginning in episode 8 of that season. They were based on the second Dallas home that was used for interiors, the Calder House. It's all quite confusing! We showed a bit of that house, along with a comparison of the MGM sets, in part 2 of our season 2 video here: ruclips.net/video/OS8NtUA5fbY/видео.html
Thanks Deanne! We know the scene you're talking about... not sure the exact episode, but I think it's in season 10. We also saw that same location used in season 8, episode 6 when Pamela goes looking for information about Mark. The address of the filming location is 2353 N Central Expy. Plano, Texas. Hope this helps!
@@Our80sLife thank you so much for your reply! I had to figure out how I found it again. I have been enjoying your Dallas shows very much! I was just in Texas for the eclipse and fell in love with the area. My boyfriend’s aunt told us she was an extra in the Cadillac dealership when JR was buying a car for his mistress (?) between 1983 and 1985 ish. She is walking through with a gentleman and they are shopping. I sure am glad I found your show in my efforts to track down this Dallas episode! You guys are fun.
We hope you get to visit Southfork some day! Their tours are really fun! The reason they didn't complete construction on the first ranch (Cloyce Box Ranch) is because the owner died before it was finished, and the ranch was then sold to new owners who never lived there. I think the current owners (Brinkmann) just use it as a place for their horses but not a residence.
The Cattlemen's Club was located at 4851 LBJ Freeway. The building is no longer there. We visited the former location in our season 4 video: ruclips.net/video/_9SdLhIVN-o/видео.html
I watched the TV series Dallas, in Russian, the first season, Brian Dennehy plays there, and then he will play the role of the sheriff in the film with Stalone, Rimbaud First Blood, I also watched the fourth season, Sasha Mitchell plays there, I liked him, he will play in the films kigboxer 2.3 .4 and in movie class 1999 2
That episode with Brian Dennehy made us laugh because it was supposed to be a hurricane, but Dallas doesn't have those, ha ha! Both great actors though! We also enjoyed Sasha Mitchell's character and acting. I remember him from a TV show called Step by Step where he played the son of Patrick Duffy's character, so funny!
LOved your opening theme. Are you pretending to be Ray and Donna? Can you tell me how far it is from the Airport to the Ranch. (Second Rance). The first house was beautiful but too big and not so popular as the second.
No we didn't, and it doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere at the moment. I'd like to watch it... I know one of the main characters is also named Abby, but apparently she's not a nice person, ha ha! When we met Joan Van Ark at the Dallas reunion, I told her I promise I'm nicer that her nemesis and she said, "that bitch." LOL!! She was very sweet and funny too!
Are you asking if there are any shows being filmed there currently? I don't know the answer to that, but we're planning a trip there this month to find the filming locations for seasons 4-6 next. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned!
That building was located at 4851 LBJ (beginning in season 4.) Unfortunately, it's been torn down. Here's our video where we showed that location: ruclips.net/video/_9SdLhIVN-o/видео.html

Found it!! Season 10, episode 4 "Once and Future King" at 11:43 (minute mark.) That's such a fun story, thanks for sharing!
I just started the series last week I’m in season one ep 6
Fantastic!! You're in for a wild ride. Enjoy the show!
I would love to visit the Ranch sometime when I am on pension. Why didnt they completed the first ranch after it burned down?
We hope you get to visit Southfork some day! Their tours are really fun! The reason they didn't complete construction on the first ranch (Cloyce Box Ranch) is because the owner died before it was finished, and the ranch was then sold to new owners who never lived there. I think the current owners (Brinkmann) just use it as a place for their horses but not a residence.
Where was the Cattlemen’s Club located?
The Cattlemen's Club was located at 4851 LBJ Freeway. The building is no longer there. We visited the former location in our season 4 video: ruclips.net/video/_9SdLhIVN-o/видео.html
@@Our80sLife thank you, guys. I knew it was next to an office building with mirror windows. Great job finding these locations..👏👏
💕😍❤️❤️
I remember him from a TV show called Step by Step where he played the son of Patrick Duffy's character, so funny!
oh wow my comment came back??? amazing...it was gone...i swear...but it came back all by its self..:-)
RUclips is so weird sometimes. Thanks for commenting!
LOved your opening theme. Are you pretending to be Ray and Donna? Can you tell me how far it is from the Airport to the Ranch. (Second Rance). The first house was beautiful but too big and not so popular as the second.
Thanks so much! We're just being our own silly selves, lol! It's about a 45 minute drive from the DFW International Airport to Southfork Ranch.
Isn't the 3rd "B" redundant?😄
Debut on kdfw fox 4 in 1978
Yes!! We love the older seasons best. So classic!
Channel 4, KDFW, was the CBS affiliate for DFW, until 1994
You mean July 2nd,1995
Cliff tried to burn southfork when sue ellen went back to JR lol
Did you ever watch Knots Landing?
No we didn't, and it doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere at the moment. I'd like to watch it... I know one of the main characters is also named Abby, but apparently she's not a nice person, ha ha! When we met Joan Van Ark at the Dallas reunion, I told her I promise I'm nicer that her nemesis and she said, "that bitch." LOL!! She was very sweet and funny too!
@@Our80sLife Haha. That's funny. You can actually get the first 2 seasons on DVD.
@@patrickmgaddis Good to know! I’ll be on the lookout at estate sales. There’s always lots of DVDs to dig through. Have a great weekend 😊
How is the Dallas film scene right now?
Are you asking if there are any shows being filmed there currently? I don't know the answer to that, but we're planning a trip there this month to find the filming locations for seasons 4-6 next. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned!
OUT. OF. THE. DALLAS. I. ONLY. LIKE. JIM. DAVIS. AND. J. R. EWINGS

Where was the Cattleman’s Club located?
That building was located at 4851 LBJ (beginning in season 4.) Unfortunately, it's been torn down. Here's our video where we showed that location: ruclips.net/video/_9SdLhIVN-o/видео.html
Isn't the third "B" redundant? 😄
Brawds & Booty, LOL!! Maybe he meant money... like pirate booty?! But it's the Ewing boys, so probably not ;)
