    In actual sanskrit text its not written as he or she. Unlike sanksrit and most Indian languages, english do not have a singular 3rd person pronoun for a living object ("it" is there but is not generally used for humans or higher beings), so in the english translation its written as "he"

    *Fun Fact:* The Vedas can be accessed by ordinary people (individuals without a master/guru) in the form of Itihasas and Puranas which are 500,000 verses long, most people will have to dedicate majority of their life if they wish to go through it all, which is what it was meant for as it satisfies even the most curious individuals.

    I'm a Hindu Atheist.I keep telling my Hindu brothers - We Indians ought to be proud of our Mythology, the same way Greeks and Vikings are Proud of their Ancestors, Culture, History and Mythology.
    It doesn't have to be true at all, to be proud of it !!! Hinduism is such a Rich Culture and Tradiition that even if one removes all the Gods from it completely, there Is still so much more for everyone - The Concepts like Gnana (Seeking Wisdom), Kama (Seeking Love), Dharma (Seek Righteousness), Artha (Seeking Meaning in Life), Yoga ( Seeking Mind and Body Mastery) and Moskha (Seeking Spiritual Goals), Natyashastra (The Art of Mastering Dance, Drama and Music) etc.
    Try reacting to a short summary of Hindu Epics - "Mahabharata" (The Great Bharata War) or "Ramayana" (The Legend of Prince Ram), You will be in for a treat, They are like "Trojan war" and "Illiad", but way more intricate and complicated, Both ending in Ironic and sad ending, even as they involve Heroes and Gods !!!

    @Reldrik geo Reactions
    Let me give some context to why SOOO many hindus were angry about the word mythology... 1) This has been happening since the british came to India and have categorised hindu 'itihasa' or 'historical stories' as 'myth' cause they saw some fantastical parts in it.. And they dismissed it ALL as fantasy 2) This is similar to how the homerian story of Heracles is catergorised as myth yet there is some possibility that it was based on an actual greek king 3) The term myth in india via the educational system has been to label things that are superstition and can be dismissed as such 4) christian missionaries TILL today in India will go in front of temples and call hindu scriptures myth while calling Jesus and the stories in the bible as TRUTH and sadly the so called rationalists in India dont call the Bible similarly 'myth' here.. 5) Conversions into islam is ALSO done in similar way calling ALL things in the quran and hadiths as unquestionable truth instead of 'myth'. Like if you say that muhammed going to the moon on a winged half donkey half woman as a myth they will threaten to kill you..
    maybe this helped. I am an atheist but i understand why religious hindus are so touchy after being dismissed for so long

      2. after creation of something the 1st god took birth (vishnu) and we called it gravity wich helps the matter or u can say life to sustain.
      3. as gravity got created there was a parallel creation as well which is its own distruction or life's distruction (called Shiv (god of distruction))(not evil lol)(its a necessity).
      4. the gravity helped to form life as nature or you can say god of life(Brhama) in that nature there exist matter enegry and consciousness.

      7. the first beings in the universe (not on eath) were purely were all our fellings as you can say 7 deadly sins in west terms ,they were the deities who controll the karma as being all the emotions and actions of a human being.

    I'm agnostic as well, and this sukta is my favorite in Rig Veda. I find this sukta to be philosophically more advanced than our current agnostic lines of thinking.
    Rig veda is mostly hymns and praises for Indra and other Vedic gods (and the famous alcoholic beverage of the Vedic people, Somras). This one sukta is completely different. Philosophically and linguistically it seems very similar to the Upanishads, which are the core philosophical corpus of Hinduism.
    The last couple of lines fascinates me the most, where it says - Only he knows, unless even he doesn't. Don't mind the masculine pronoun. The poet actively chose not to use a neuter gender pronoun for this entity (although in Sanskrit neuter gender often takes the form of masculine gender, which is not the case here). This sukta is not really a creation myth though. This is more of a poetic/philosophical speculation. Speculation even about the omniscience of Brahman. Although I don't think this sukta talks about the Brahman (the ultimate reality), rather it talks about Purusha (Manifestation of the Brahman. We, the material world, living and non-living, are part of that Purusha, not Brahman. which is a highly debated thing in Hindu philosophy.) The word Purusha means person (as in first second third person etc.) or man/male in Sanskrit. Therefore the poet chose masculine pronoun. The gender rules in Sanskrit is pretty rigid.
