This was one of the first street styled parks in LA, before this parks were mainly concrete quarter ramps and stuff people who didn't skate thought we needed. Haven't been in a few years but I know they still have a very active skate community. Went to a baker demo there once, it was awesome.
Man, one thing I always consistently enjoyed about your videos through the years is how well synced the sounds of skateboarding always are to the sounds of the music during your tricks; they work together. It’s captivating and relaxing
As a professional musician whose first love was skateboarding, you quickly come to realize most skate videos bangers are falling on the accent of the beat in the song meaning when someone lands bolts in the videos the songs’ sonic power emphasizes it’s impact. It’s common thing amongst a lot of skate videos; old or new, that I still watch to this day.
Love this park so much I used to go as a kid and still go every now and then. Definitely need to hit it up again soon , thanks John for all your hard work you are inspiring!
"Your kids are starving. Carl's Jr. believes no child should go hungry. You are an unfit mother. Your children will be placed in the custody of Carl's Jr."
A novice skater would look at John and think "hmm, skateboarding actually looks really easy, imma jumping down these stairs rn" proceeding to break both legs, cause bro is flowy af, god dayum
Girly? You've got a weird concept of what a "man" should be! Most guys that fit your "tough" concept are usually compensating for something. What John is, is just comfortable in his own skin ;)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: telescopic squeegee. It will make drying off the ledges and ground so much faster and easier. Hahahaha Cool park though! I've never seen footage of that park before and it still looks really fun deapite being pretty old.
I was there yesterday been skating OC parks cus they’re closer and less traffic to deal with. But that’s always a good spot to hit up for a LA skate trip. I been working up to gap the star to the top platform
I did my first kickflip on the 5 stair out there. Was going to the high school right up the block and would skate everyday before school. Great memories
this was back when all the big youtubers were making sponsored videos of their six dollar mushroom burger, you just had to be there, smosh still has their video up from 2009.
There is a brand new Skate park in Carpinteria, CA. You should totally check it out. It opened less then 4 months ago. 🐳 Also there are 3 really random tiny skate parks in Ventura which is on the way to Carpinteria. The Ventura skate parks are super unique. I've watched a lot of your videos and never seen you go to a skate park like them. Love the videos! Keep Killing It! 🐳
I was living up Wilshire skating distance to this plaza when the was first built and it wasn't open yet and you had to hop a super tall fence to skate it. Crazy to think it's that old and worn down now.
I always say public parks should all have something small like this in a qtr of a park.. they all have basketball courts, tennis courts, etc.. should all have skate spots too
Hey John, I was hoping to get some advice. I’m 21 thinking about getting into skating again! I haven’t skated since I was 15, even then I only knew the basics of skating. I was just hoping you advice for someone my age considering to skate again?
You’re still young man, get out and shred! I would focus on solely pushing around and getting comfy on the board again for the first few weeks to a month. Do some transition skating once you feel more confident, it’ll help you with board control. Then start trying tricks 🛹
Looked like a decent park. I can see why they cut the rail; seemed like half of it was at the top of the stair and probably made it even more awkward to skate. Im sure if more people do start skating there again, the solicitors will amscray. Lol
I was totally joking. hahaha, but Rob dyrdeks from ohio where they were like the thing for this state in the 80s growing up for him skating. only reason i brought that up at all. hahaha@@toddjones1480
Hey John, are you familiar with the Twitch streaming world? I'm asking because a Twitch streamer named Maya Higa is trying to learn how to skate and she's already attempting to do a kickflip. I know it's wild, but it's like a challenge from her chat. She also post here on RUclips. Maybe you can help her man. She's from Austin, Texas. She's the CEO of Alveus Sanctuary. I just thought I'd ask you, maybe you could do a collab video of you teaching her how to skate or something. You have a way of teaching people how to skate, I've learned a couple of tricks from you actually. Thanks man!

As a kid that grew up within skating distance of the DC plaza, I have to give Rob props.
Love this park so much I used to go as a kid and still go every now and then. Definitely need to hit it up again soon , thanks John for all your hard work you are inspiring!
Happy to see you rediscovered your love for skating, John. Keep up the great content 🤙🏼
I remember watching the Dyrdek video when this park was built & opened. Makes me feel fucking old lol
i swear bro XD we feeling like how the ex communists countries baby boomers feel... seeing abandonded parks and shit XD
classic episode…as soon as john said “safe spot skate spot” i remembered hearing rob say that 10000 times in it
"Your kids are starving. Carl's Jr. believes no child should go hungry. You are an unfit mother. Your children will be placed in the custody of Carl's Jr."
You're a legend. 🤣
This video is proof it’s beginning to happen! I love that movie 😂

Such an iconic park. I remember seeing this on TV. It's hard to believe it's been so long.
Love when I get a new John Hill upload. Hoping to skate with you one day 🛹
You’re soooo smooth on the board !!! REAL PROFESSIONAL
The thing that amazes me most is that every time john lands its on a beat 😅
This park looks amazing so shout out to Carl’s Jr thanks for contributing to the culture
handrail sesh was sick gj
A novice skater would look at John and think "hmm, skateboarding actually looks really easy, imma jumping down these stairs rn" proceeding to break both legs, cause bro is flowy af, god dayum
hahahaha u included the classic bail in the carls jr star costume... noice!
I’ve always wanted to see this park in person, or in video like this so I’m excited to watch this. 🎉
Thanks for all the content!
I used to live a few blocks from the skatepark. the tiny manual pad was so perfect and fun to casually get back into skating
I’m hoping in 2024 your channel blows up again, I love your videos so much
That switch varial flip was clean asf
7:23 Oh my god John!! Not the splits!!!😭😭😭
The algorithm started showing your videos again after 4 years. Crushing it!
I love the mix of metal and concrete on these parks vs coping ledges
thank you for sharing your thoughts on the park! I have wondered about this one but haven't been.
Love these park tours
thankyou John, your skatebaording is so stylish, and your editing vibes makes my day
John is a good guy proving that not every guy has to be "tough". Some guys can be more girly and soft and still be pretty cool like him!
Girly? You've got a weird concept of what a "man" should be! Most guys that fit your "tough" concept are usually compensating for something. What John is, is just comfortable in his own skin ;)
I wouldn’t say he’s girly or soft at all, he’s like a totally normal dude.
@@yodathedeathshadow I said I liked how girly he was.....that would be a compliment my good man
@@JaneDoe-sk5ps No I get that, it's just very weird that you find him girly 😂. I'm assuming you're pretty young right? 13 or 15 years old?
Love the Nocturnal Spirits track! Always reminds me of Vince Guaraldi 🙌🏻
Ill never forget the video of the old dude on a mountain bike faceplanting over the Hardees Star
maaaaaaaaaaaan I have alot of good memories there. Love that park
Most pro dood John Hill you so goooooood

Or just a squeegee. Not everyone made of money
@@andrewsk8manyou can get 6 feet telescoping squeegees for under 20 dollars. Haha im sure homie has a 20 to spare.
I take a squeegee, broom, and leaf blower to so many spots to make life so much easier.
Nice! My signature move when I grind rails is the sack. I'm surprised you didn't try that, but oh well! Missed opportunity I guess.
Great skating dude, I enjoyed the vid , interesting park , peace ✌️
I'm love your videos man
Always a great day when John Hill uploads 🎉
You look like a comedian that i see on RUclips shorts all the time i forget his name
it is pure winter where i live rn so im snowed in skate wise pls dont stop making videos again bro
also jon you are so good bro keep doin what yur doin man
Bro you gotta get a squeegee and towel for your car for wet skate spots!
I used to live across the street from that skate park. Crazy to see John in my old neighborhood.
its a lil vibe besides the usual LA cleanliness
Cool looking park.
something bout smooth jazz and skating does it for me
Fuck I love the music choice, makes it so relaxing watching you skate
youre so good!!!
When you were skating the hubba, you were landing on the beat! I don’t know if it was coincidental, but it was cool nonetheless!
Good session, never knew ther was a carl's jr. park
This video makes me wants a westerner bacon cheeseburger at Carl’s Jr 🤤
I was there yesterday been skating OC parks cus they’re closer and less traffic to deal with. But that’s always a good spot to hit up for a LA skate trip. I been working up to gap the star to the top platform

I knew exactly what park you were at just from the thumbnail.
May you please test the max allure skateboard
"Brought to you by Carl's Jr"
happy new year sir.

You hotta give props for rob dyrdrek for creating and innovating street skate parks. Tell me im wrong but im sure he was the first
Ay, there's my local!

Ngl you and ashton kelly best utubers imo
What abt Chris chann
The often imitated never duplicated, John Hill!
Check Cesar Chavez in Phoenix 35th ave!
if your in la come to san pedro and checkout peckpark skate park and channel street..
Crazy that all these little skate plazas still seem new to me.
Cold
That five stair is enticing though
Only cause it’s a more skateable version of this crazy marble one some miles down the street

Will do !! Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it 🙏🏽🛹!!!!
Check out Centennial Skate park in Santa Ana 😊 would love to see you kill it
Hey John, do you ever go to skate parks in San Diego?
May you please test out the ma allure skateboard
If you want a really bad skatepark, check out Clinton Skatepark in Utah. That place is renowned, locally, as our worst park and nobody is ever there
If that was in my town I’d be there any chance I got. We have two skateparks and their all designed around very and transition.
13 years ago….. god I’m getting old lol.
LA skaters know who Rob Dyrdek is IYkYK. RIP BB!
An electric leaf blower would help you in the future dry off skateparks.
Hey John, ah luv u

I always just say, "Excuse me, I'm trying to skate this," and people move and stay out of the way pretty quickly 🤷♂
🤘🤘🤘
"Capitalism ain't rad bros, now watch me heel flip this 5 stair."

Good video
Borger Park 🍔🍔
Guys just go watch what Cory Kennedy did to this park 13 years ago in 1 minute of footage. Slice of life.
That’s Lafayette I never go there cause it looks like a worse version of the street spots around the area
Yo John I was thinking of buying your lobotomy deck should I?
Yes think RUclips does that crushes the competition…
Yo anyone remember the old spicy chicken sandwiches how they were like a 1.50 and the patty was big its now way smaller and cost 4 dollars 😭
i wonder how things would have worked out if they went with hardees. lol.
The Hardees branding doesn't exist in California. Meanwhile, the Carl's Jr name has 80+ years of history here.
I was totally joking. hahaha, but Rob dyrdeks from ohio where they were like the thing for this state in the 80s growing up for him skating. only reason i brought that up at all. hahaha@@toddjones1480
