It seems like Olivia fan girled, Taylor noticed and gave her a shoutout, they met at the BRITS awards and that’s it. I think Olivia’s label is making her distance her brand from Taylor because in the beginning most of her fanbase were swifties and they were saying that Olivia is Taylor’s musical daughter and some were going as far as to say Olivia is Taylor’s successor.
Toxic swifties were crediting Olivia’s success to Taylor shouting her out and swifties rushing to support Olivia because they saw Taylor did. Like Ariana was compared to Mariah and at a period of time was called the “next Mariah” or “wannabe Mariah” Chloë and Normani are called the “next Beyoncé” and “wannabe Beyoncé” which causes Stan wars.
It’s always best for new artists to not really emphasize other artists they’re inspired by because comparisons will rise and so will fan wars. It will create unrealistic expectations for the newer artists to reach if you compare them to already established legends.
No matter what, you can’t use parts of other ppls songs & not credit them for it. Even if Olivia was really upset at Taylor for taking money for the song, is she also going to never talk to any of the other artists she “stole” from?
