That's the problem with being rated 2000, most of your oponents will either be hobbiest, older folks or kids. Now if they were 2300 or higher, there would be way less kids and the ones that show up, are basically on their way to becoming GMs, so you wouldn't be yourself too hard over it.

My best friend was going to quit Tournament Chess because of kids beating him(!!) ... he left chess ... then came back ... he slowly adjusted to the idea that an 8y.o. could beat him. Fortunately he is so much more philosophical about his losses these days!! :)

I went to this chess tournament back when I was in Highschool (I was 16 or something) and I finished the first game pretty quickly and was waiting around. At the same time there was this another kid competing in a game for kids who also finished pretty quick. He was probably 6 or 7, so everyone was like you guys are free play a game for fun and let me tell you the game was nothing fun. He was kicking my ass left and right. The worst part is by the team this game reached around 20 moves all the other games were finished and everyone was watching us I was so embarrassed at the he blundered and I won the game but oh boy… I have never player a kid after that.
