As a horserider, I'd like to say that any rider who's serious about what they're doing SHOULD do that exercise to improve the posture and maintain it not matter what. Core strength and balance are extremely important for horseriding and reinforcing deep muscles plays an important part (which is also why pilates is often advised for horseriders as well)!

Rather than messing with the pvc pipe/weight/band..you could just do farmer’s carries. Grab a relatively heavy thing in one hand and walk with it while making sure to not “lean” to the weighted side. I do these everyday at work since I’m carrying buckets full of tools and materials around all day.

This is the difference between farm strength and gym strength
When I was in my late teens all the way through my 20s I worked out all the time but I was nowhere near as strong as one of my good friends who lived and worked on a farm that guy was a beast

I had a CRAZY workplace accident 12 years ago that resulted in transverse spiral fractures of my L2, L3, L4, L5 and S1 vertebrae (as well as 16 other bones!) and, as a result, I’ve had my share of physiotherapy over the years with varying results. This exercise though! I love it! Definitely going to give it a try after work today!
