owned two of these, bought a new one in aus 87 when they were fire saled at $13990 with no goodies, not even a radio. An absolute legendary car, one of the funest ive owned.
@@peterhoare3219 I was driving my for half an hour, average speed about 100kmh, rpms always over 5000, absolutely great sound and it didn't move temperature even a millimeter
Oh the memories. My very first car exactly the same but with the silver alloys. Absolutely rapid for a 1.3. Such fun. Remember beating an XR3i vividly. Those were the days...
So clean. You barely even see the later model on the road anymore let alone the first generation model. If you still had it I would have asked you to sell it to me. Haa ha!
This car was sold in the U.S. by Chevrolet as the Turbo Sprint and in Canada by Pontiac as the Turbo Firefly. The 1.3L Engine was used in the Maruti Suzuki Esteem in India.
They are such a fun little car. Rev their guts out and are unbreakable. I had one from new and cried the whole day I sold it. And your facts are way off. There was more than 200 imported and they came out much earlier than '96. I bought mine in '86. And the 2nd gear can always be a problem with them. It eventually crunches. Unbelievable fuel economy. You can flog fuck out of it all day or drive it sedately - either way you'll get about 6.5 - 7 litres per 100kms.
I own this exact car, right now. Haha. The guy who you sold it do had someone drive into the rear left side (not major, purely cosmetic). Other than that, she goes great still :)
I wanted a Rally look. So got a custom aluminium nudge bar made up, and stuck four HUGE Cibie spotties on the front of it. CHRIST it looked NASTY.... White also, mine was.
I'm interested about the wheels. Were the OE steel wheels with white disc hubcaps with a ring of holes? Also are those Enki's in any way considered a Swift wheel - like an option? (The reason I ask is that I have an 87 Turbo Sprint and want to run 13" wheels while maintaining the OE hubcap look.) THanks
@@bilgetonyukuk5530 oh ok well thanks for reply. I've heard that the engine will fit directly on to the engine mounts but i have no idea on the gear box. I know the second generations of this car is the exact same with different badges
+Wheelnut78 I was like "damn that's a 96? Holy shit they made that car look the same for a long time". lol. Nice car! those things are really rare here in the states. Looked like you had a sprint/forza/swift in the back as well.
Yeah that was a running wreck that had parts for a turbo conversion. Never got round to it and sold it all off. They are rare in Australia too, I have only ever seen two others in my city (Perth)
Wheelnut78 I never see these here in the states. I saw one chevy sprint like a year ago and flipped out. lol. No one knew or cared what I was talking about. Do you guts get the Lotus Omega there?
james moran, parts u mean? Not sure, extremely rare now and not much money in wreaking them. I bought a spare car for parts. I sold it a few years ago now for a Toyota Caldina, which was also a great car.
Thank you, parts are hard to get for this model if that is what you are trying to say. Use an online translator if you are struggling with Engish. What is your first language?
No, I sourced parts from Australia, only 200 where imported here. I didn't have to go to Japan but I only had the car for a year so there was not too much to get in my ownership. No, de origen partes de Australia , sólo 200 , donde importan aquí . Yo no tuve que ir a Japón, pero yo sólo tenía el coche durante un año , así que no era demasiado para entrar en mi propiedad.
I had a white 1987 model and I miss it terribly. Light, quick, uncomplicated - and a lot of fun :)
i had a single cam 87 commercial edition. i also miss it terribly. i'm going to try my best to buy another one as soon as possible!

Bought mine for 1100 many years ago. I’ll always remember the sound of the engine really unique.
They'll rev to 7500 all day long

+Wheelnut78 - How did you manage that? haha. I've been looking for one for ages. just to have. Can't find one anywhere.
@@dagrohl1979 There arent many. Few popped up in germany from 5-9k euros. I have the only one registered in Serbia

101 or 115
@@prec5552 I guess the 115

Good car
Beautiful ♥️
I used to have a white one - completely stock.
I put 15" alloys on mine. BIG mistake. Took the edge RIGHT it off....
would you recommend this as a starter car?
My oath. Most fun you can have on 4 wheels.
Rev like buggery
If you have a chance to buy it, go for it, that might be the only chance you will ever have. Just be careful, brakes are non existent after 100kmh lol
