  • This dive was my only dive of a weekend trip to New Braunfels in Texas with members of my local scuba diving club (CHUM). It was my first dive in a river and my first warm water dive in a drysuit!
We got in the river at the Landa RV Park in New Braunfels where many of us also stayed. The river is spring-fed and so the water was pretty cold (72 °F) which is why I went with my drysuit for this dive. The level of the river was lower than usual so the depth was around 5 feet for most of the dive, with a maximum of only 8 feet or so.
My Dive Buddy and I took around 45 minutes to float down the river until we got to a large pool where there was also a chute for tubers. We did not wish to go down the chute so got out at that point and got rides back in CHUMmers trucks!
It was a fun dive and there was lots of fish to see although the water was not as clear as is usual, we were told. I also should have worn more than just a rash-guard under my suit!

Really great video, I’m getting ready to dive there in 2 weeks and I’m really happy I found your video! As a local I have to add that vegetation like that is totally normal for the Comal, I’d be alarmed if I saw less
