Buying your first RV? What do I need to buy my first RV?
When we finally made the decision to buy our first RV (2020), we spent OVER 100 HOURS LEARNING about them. There are hundreds of videos you can watch and blogs you can read to prepare yourself for your first rig.
We compiled all of the info/advice/tips we learned and used, and put it in one video to help guide you through this process 😃 (be sure to check out the channels that helped us below!)
There are many 'key things' to look out for when buying used so that you don’t buy a lemon (The weirdest thing for us was learning new/never been used is NOT always better in the RV world!)
The people in the RV world are PASSIONATE.
You’ll find very strong opinions on just about every topic. What works for some doesn’t work for all.

Hello! We are a family of 5! We homeschool our kids and just want the break free from the city life and go and see the country and have a different life experience. I kno for sure I want to buy a used rv but I don’t know ANYTHING about them. I’ve been doin research for months! We r wanting to buy an rv and move to my family’s land July of 2023! Less than a yr away! Any and all tips would be beyond appreciated! Ty!

My husband & I are buying our 1st rv. We want a class A & have narrowed it down to a couple of Makes/Models. By FAR this is the BEST step-by-step guide. I just wish there was something we could download to have these in print. Olivia provided so much information, I'm going to have to go back & watch it at 1/2 speed to get it all written down. Thanks for the info from a couple of RV newbies!
Good information. A thought on "remodeled" units...this can indicate recent damage, so be careful and check for previous leaks/water damage, soft spots. Don't be afraid to bring a ladder and get on the roof (if it's walkable) to check for soft spots as well.

I’ve been looking at RVs for over a year. I read lots of reviews & even though I’d love to buy a new “pretty” travel trailer I’ve decided I won’t look at any RV after 2019 because there are skeletal staff at our neighborhood restaurant, so the RV manufacturers have skeletal staff too. I’ve read how used parts are being used in new RVs. Top 10 RVs before COVID are no longer on that list and the ones on the list now have horrible reviews. What I do now is look at reviews on NEW RVs especially the long reviews. Usually they say something about how they loved their old RV & list the brand but since they purchased their new one, the new brand has been in the shop many times or there’s a 3 month wait to get an appointment & since they’re angry they tell you what broke down. After reading that review, I now know to look at the brand of RV they traded in because they loved it.

I just bought my first trailer. Timberline 1970. I went with the trailer because it was low end of my budget, weight compatibility with my SUV and extremely well cared for trailer.

I just want to thank you guys SOOOO much for posting this video! I’m a first time RVer and am completely new at this. I’ve been watching video after video over the last few weeks and have been completely lost because so much information conflicts. I got WAY MORE (accurate) information from your video just now than all the others I found before you. Great job guys!! I wish I found this video sooner- could have saved alot of time.

Renato, an Englishman here, currently in Colombia. Please be aware that instead of "wasting money renting an apartment", you'll almost certainly 'be wasting money' paying for an R.V. park. Good luck in the States!
did you learn your lesson and get the point from the commentator that told you about wasting money quote on quote you going to be spending it anyway on a spot did you learn yes or no?

My husband and I are doing RV research, possibly taking the plunge on our first RV, after having talked about it for almost ten years. I'm back at your video after suffering through a pile of insufferable RV videos from other people (all men so far . . . they love to hear themselves talk). I just wanted to tell you, your video is GREAT! Full of practical info, direct, to the point, but not dry. It seems most, if not all the other "expert" RV advisers need to take some tips from you. Keep up the great RV videos; I'll be back!

Yea I wanted a trailer , but I keep leaning toward a class c because of the towing and being solo and towing. 2022 I wont be solo so I'm thinking of waiting till then but really dont want to . Thankyou kindly for all the tips . My fav rv channel ♥️

After two years of RV-ing, I sold my rig. It was just a lot of work, preparation, maintenance and expensive. I went back to driving my car or truck and staying in motels. RV-ing wasn’t for me. Glad I did it early in life and not after I retired.

Awsome video, I am glad you mentioned the build quality of travel trailers, becasue i am looking at two trilers one is 6 years old and new is new, but about 3k dollar difference. i think I will go with a new one not to worry about existing issues the old one may have or have to fix or replalce too much lke axles and wheel hubs etc. Great breakdown, i appreciate the time and info.

Great video!!!! Hopefully in a couple years I’ll be in the market for a camper. How is it overnighting in a travel trailer when you are driving between locations? Do you stay in Walmart’s or truck stops? Can you get a hot shower in the camper staying overnight in a parking lot? How will my eggs in the fridge do going down the road, will the stay cold or break?
Hi there! We haven't stayed in parking lots much. We did when we first purchased the trailer but haven't since. But we know many people who do. Walmart, some Costco's, etc. We could have a hot shower and keep our fridge cold while not hooked up to an RV site. We'd just need to fill up our fresh water tank and turn our propane on (heats our water and runs our fridge) Hope that helps!

Hey there! Our tow vehicle: Olivia's parents had this truck they weren't using and conveniently lent it to us for our tour. Luckily, just before picking up the trailer we learned it had the appropriate GCVWR to safely tow our trailer (thank God! lol we thought it was all about the tow capacity). And another huge tip - this truck is basically retired so after we're done with it, it will probably just sit. If we had the choice and money, we would do research on vehicles with a GCVWR powerful enough to tow our trailer with ease! The escalade does the job but I wouldn't be surprised if it needs some work done to it after a year of towing full-time. Hope that helps!!

Surprisingly we're still using iMovie, it's just quicker and easier and gets the job done as long as there are no tricky effects to do. We'll be changing to either Premiere or Final Cut Pro in 6-8 weeks though! Thanks for supporting, all the best! :)

Coleman has been in the rv business for at least 50 years although the last 30 in name only. They sold the name and rights originally to Fleetwood who in turn later sold to Duchmen. If you can find one of their models from the 70s or 80s that have been garaged and continue to do so they will last forever.

Hey Scott! The simple answer is that RUclips is currently not enough income so we both work side jobs. I run a private online fitness group and Olivia is a marketing consultant. We can do those jobs remotely just with internet. As RUclips grows we hope to be able to just do video production full time and cut back on the other jobs.
