      Reactors pretend they don't know a song. They use their age to pretend they never heard a song before even though oldies stations quadruple contemporary stations. They grew up on this stuff too. These 2 were smart enough to have one say they knew it. Then to get more engagement they usually get facts wrong on purpose to get more engagement in the comment sections.

      Glenn Frey died in January 2016. Terrible loss. There were other pop/rock stars who died around the same time, such as Prince and David Bowie, and they got much more press than Frey's passing. But I miss Glenn Frey the most of that bunch, as his music (with the Eagles and solo) meant much more to me than the others. I may be one of the few in that regard, however.

  • @boosuedon
    @boosuedon 4 года назад +11

    The lyric of the song was inspired by the old TV show; "Twilight Zone" says co-writer Don Henley in a interview. The line about '...stabbed it with their STEELY knives..." was an homage to a band that they were friends with and admired, Steely Dan. Henley said he and co-writer Glenn Frye wanted to give the song a mystic, supernatural feel. All of the music was written by lead guitar player, Don Felder, the guy playing the double guitar.
    The reality is that even though that is what the writers were trying to accomplish, often times music listeners hear something totally different and the song takes on a life of its' own. Such is the case here. The song becomes whatever it means to you, and that is so cool!

      The drummer, Don Henley, is quite possibly the best singer to ever play the drums. In modern pop/rock music, his only peer as a singer/drummer is Karen Carpenter, who was truly an exceptional singer. Yes, there are other singing drummers, but none with the vocal expressiveness of Henley. Don Henley is also a world-class songwriter, as well.

    One advice for reaction videos - especially songs - don;t pause the video so many times - especially if you are not saying something about what you just saw but to just talk about some other random stuff...it really stops the flow of the video and ppl end up not finishing your reaction video because you are not reacting to the song/video, but just talking about some other random stuff.

    Unfortunately, Glen Frey (acoustic guitar/ look at that mustache) passed away in January 2016. Don Henley (drums) still owns and tours with a version of the Eagles and they are worth seeing if you can get tickets. Don Felder (double neck guitar) still does shows but Henley and Frey refused to work with him after he published a book and aired some of the bands dirty laundry...money, status and greed all played a part in their split. Randy Meisner (Bass) left the band not long after this performance because of some of the stress, in fighting and exhaustion. Meisner was replaced by Timothy B.Schmit on Bass in 1977 and still tours with the Eagles. Joe Walsh (electric guitar) joined the Eagles in 1975 replacing original member Bernie Leadon. Walsh is still touring with the Eagles. Meisner and Leadon are both alive.
    The original members are Henley, Frey, Meisner and Leadon... Felder joined them in 1974 and gave the band a little different dynamic and moved them from a country southern sound to a rock sound. The main vocalist on their recordings were Henley and Frey but in my opinion the better vocalist was Meisner.... except he didn’t like to be front and center and didn’t really want to sing lead. In my opinion this version of the Eagles on stage in this video was the best version of the Eagles.... they had it all, song writers, multi instrumental musicians and multiple vocalist. There will never be a better assembly of talent in one band ever again like the talent here on this stage..

    Yeah, its impossible to have not heard this song before. I owe my love affair with this song to my Mom. She was a huge fan of this song, and I just naturally fell in love with it alongside her.
    For me, the song always felt like a representation of Purgatory. Neither heaven nor hell, can't kill the beast, stuck there by their own device, and can check out but never leave. That's just what always made me think of being trapped between worlds. (i'm not even that religious, honestly) But that's the beauty of the song, its up to any interpretation.

    The Eagles themselves said it was about the excess and lives the rich Hollywood elite live!! But they've said different shit at different times, so I don't even think they know what the hell it's about!!

    The acoustic guitar play passed away 1 or 2 years ago. R.I.P. Glen Frey

    This song is about materialism and excess. "It's a song about the dark underbelly of the American Dream, and about excess in America which was something we knew about." California is used as an example but could be anywhere in the U.S.

    Phil Collins is another vocalist/drummer. An extremely underrated drummer at that.
