  • In this adventure I explore the trail to Chimney Rock in rural Arizona! This trail is remote, rugged, and beautiful! I was surprised that this Chimney Rock doesn't quite look like a chimney, but it's still a striking monolith worth going to see!

    I took that trip to chimney rock yesterday, and I had to go trough and open 3 gates! I didn’t know you needed a permit to go there! I even passed a ranger near by and he didn’t stop me! Great video though.👍

    Great video again Ken. My 'places to do' list gets longer each video. Here in NM, Alamogordo area, the Lincoln National Forest in the Sacramento Mtns, has MANY springs and water catchment in the mtns for the city of Alamogordo & for livestock in the forest. There are very few fence gates, using cattle crossings instead. But there are numerous catchments for the livestock watering tanks.

    This trail looks like a blast but I don’t think I can deal with scratching up my jeep yet. It’s tough finding off road trails around here that won’t result in pin striping.

    Hey Ken, I had a good laugh when you posted “map check” much of that trail made me wonder if it really was one. Great adventure and thanks for detailing the soil/rock. Hope your skeet discovery is found by investigation and not by breakdown while doing a run. Till next time.

      There are a lot of side trails as you get closer to Chimney Rock, definitely good to go with a map or gpx file.

    The gates and water are for the cows. The windmill is making electricity. A lot of springs are pumped with solar powered electric pumps, they're easy and low maintenance. Love the Tetons, too.

      @@offroadhub.official hey bro I finally did that trail today! Had my three kids and my mom in the Old Land Rover lol they were tripping because I took the easy way in and then I took the hard way out I guess the opposite of your video and around 10 minutes on your video going up that after all the rain we got last week was a very nerve-racking experience but I went really slow in the Rover, first gear. It has wicked off road traction control that works crazy good but no lockers and if you go in 2nd or 3rd it spins faster and then grabs harder jerking you back kinda scary but if you go really slow that grabbing isn't so violent LOL it crawled right up slow and easy but looked scary inside. I only have a 2 inch ome lift with 285 75 16s but it does better than it looks. The old Discovery series 2 is often underestimated. Kinda the pinnacle of Land Rover pre ifs and air bag weirdness. Lol
      Anyway thanks for the videos!

    I would like to see a video of your tow rig and how you tow your FJ. I have a Jeep JK Rubicon and I’m thinking about getting a tow/camping rig. Thanks!

    • @offroadhub.official
      @offroadhub.official  3 года назад +1

      I will consider that. It's pretty simple. A 2000 Dodge 3500 dually Cummins 5.9, 8 foot bed, a 1998 Fleetwood truck camper, and a 7x16 car hauler. The truck camper is good for 2 people max, no slide outs, and it ends at the end of the 8 foot bed. It's got everything though, including a queen size bed. If you have any other questions email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com. I'll plan on tow rig video in the future!

    Where is the trailhead? I started from Reddington at Tanque Verde then crossed through Bellota Ranch and then made it to Chimney Rock. The way you took looks twice as challenging.

    Also have you ever done that one call Tucson wash down in mammoth? It's a small Loop by the huge train bridge then it's a larger Loop a little ways down on Camino Rio Road. If you ever done it I'd like to go with you if you shoot a video and show you some of the fun offshoots. It's mostly just a nice fun wash with lots of shade. Oh and just east of it in Mammoth there is Copper Creek the abandoned mine that's a pretty good one

      @@offroadhub.official yeah I think it is kind of long but it's not too remote actually it just connects those two small towns Catalina and Oracle. I live like 20 miles from it I would go with you. I've been afraid to do it but I know some of the hard Parts have a bypass because my Land Rover is on like 33s. The very bottom is pretty much a riverbed all Rocky but the start has some nice funky things and the back half looks really nice just for tall climbs and not so Rocky but fun parts. I think in the onx app they ranked the length of time a little too long possibly but yeah I would totally go with you so let me know

    Hey Ken where did you start from to do this trail? Did you ever figure out where the squeak was coming from? Looked like a fun trail I've lived in Arizona for the last 15 years you've done more exploring in a couple of weeks than I have since I've lived here🤣

      The startd east of Chimney Rock off of Redington Rd. The squeak has gone away... I hope it was nothing. 😄 Get out there and explore!

    Hey Ken. I've got a mechanical question for you. I just installed RCV axles. Up front. So now when I am in 4 wheel drive and accelerating my truck pulls slightly right. Not bad just a little. When I let off the gas or I'm at a steady speed it's fine, no pull. Any idea why? I can live with it. Cuz it's so small of a pull. It's just odd. Thanks

      Hey Steve sorry I didn't see this before... Did you ever figure out what the issue was?

    • @stevegreen245
      @stevegreen245 3 года назад

      @@offroadhub.official yes I did. Rebel off road in California did the work. They moved my alignment just a bit. But said nothing. I fixed it myself. They also broke a wheel stud for off my spacers and said nothing. I didn't see that until I did a rotation. Anyway I'm getting good at alignments. Total chaos front lower control arms make factory alignment wrong. I have not found a custom shop yet. So I have to do it the slow way.
