I was debating whether or not to buy this knife for quite some time. I suspect it to be a great skinner and I dearly need one. I'd only like to have a kydex for it as it is way easier to keep clean. Thanks for reviewing it!

Good review. Love the blade length, mandatory guard, practical handle, and even grind (flat). Not familiar with that steel. The birch burned well. Rich pine is the prize here, but pine straw will always work too. I always learn something on your videos.
Many thanks for watching and commenting. yes this is only the second blade for me made out of a Niobium enhanced steel, the other one I have uses "Becut" a trade name for another stainless, also used in the food processing industry where blades have to remain sharp for long periods on certain cutting machines. it too BTW was manufactured by FOX but there are probably several generic Niobium stainless producers around these days. I can tell you it is incredibly wear resistant. The other really amazing wear resistant steel is Böhler's K340 (a kind of modified D2), I know it's anecdotal but I only have one knife made from this a Kizlyar Supreme Echo, hunting knife and I was basically stunned at all i put that blade through on Aussie eucalyptus wood (which is like steel when it dead); I cut so much meat off the bone, vegies up on hardwood chopping boards, bamboo carving and general hacking around the farm, it wasn't funny and probably i was def trying to blunt it (not by abuse of course) and the edge was just great after one month of hard use!
@@BushCampingTools Very interesting. I have a Kizlyer Supreme folder in D2, an excellent liner lock. Loved the Eucalyptus leaves. One of them had a lemon smell. I have wondered about the K340 steel. Some Russians use it. Thanks.
G'day BCT, a lot to like about this design IMO; does look cool but more importantly I expect it will do a range of tasks well. I have heard of Niolox, but no experience, anything stain....less, gets my attention straight away, (salt water/air and @ times high humidity here). With that hardness, will be interesting to see how it goes for sharpening. Cheers Duke.
Yeah, it does so far seem a very versatile shape and I know from a BECUT knife I have (also a Nb enhanced steel), it has good resistance to corrosion. The harness thing, well let's see after several months of usage and i'll pos something bak here again on what it's like to sharpen.

Hi there thanks for watching. I reckon it will make a great skinner as long as you don't have really big hands like size 9 and above
I got a sheath kydex made with primaloptions. They did a good job and were reasonably priced. Takes a few weeks though.

I have a few WC knives, and I love the Blackbird. Multi-grind knives mostly about 17-19 degrees. Very sharp.

I'm great thanks for asking. Yeah too in regards to WC knives, they look great, as you know I have several knives with recurved blade profiles.
