During the original vanilla, I was a 14 year old boy obsessed with hunter PvP. I PvP'd so much as a hunter in early levels I was rank 5 at level 39 (which is the rank cap at that level). I was exalted with both Warsong and Arathi by the time I was level 29. This is how much PvP I did as a hunter levelling. I tried so hard to reach High Warlord. It was my only goal. But I joined Vanilla about 10 months too late, and as I had reached 60 and found my way to Rank 12, my mother took me on holiday. When I returned I had lost 3 ranks. I grinded back to Rank 11, and then the honour system changed forever. I never made High Warlord 😔 I actually also led a PvP guild as a 14 year old boy. I had full grown men taking orders from me. We made 2 High Warlords and I was on track to be the 3rd before the holiday. Anyway, this is a really long winded way of telling you that when I saw that lvl 29 mage Vs 29 hunter, I knew the mage was about to get stomped. Mages were my food the whole way through my PvP career. I never lost a 1 on 1 to a mage while levelling. With aimed shot and PvP rep rewards, I could 1-shot 99% of mages. That mage was foolish to engage a hunter at lvl 29. There aren't many classes who would give hunters a challenge at 29. I think only rogues with crippling poison, and you might die to warlock DoTs, but not until after the warlock has been killed. In a Mak'gora, your debuffs would be cleared upon victory. So I think only a rogue with crippling poison can beat hunters at this level. Warriors don't have intercept yet, and Wingclip slow is greater than Hamstring this level (50% Vs 40%), so you can clip a warrior and you'll eventually get away with enough space to run. I did this time and time again in BGs. I feared no one, cos rogues in my day were too stupid to use poisons. All were food for my honour grind. I was actually really good back then, but I don't have the mental fluidity to PvP with modern Vanilla wow players. That's just the difference in skill today. I was a really good player in a sea of noobs, but now everyone knows the motions of PvP and I just can't keep up with this old brain. I can't remember if you have Scorpid Sting at level 29, but if you are 1v1'ing a hunter at lower levels, Scorpid Sting will win you that fight if your opponent uses Serpent Sting. Serpent just ticks a bit of damage, while Scorpid Sting will reduce their ranged attack power by 2x the amount of agility lost, as well as reducing their crit and armour slightly. The other hunter will lose more DPS cos every ranged ability (except Arcane Shot and Serpent Sting) and your white damage is affected by agility. Overall the DPS loss to the other hunter is so great that you'll outpace him.
@@christophermccutcheon2143doesn't druid counter hunter because you can hibernate the pet and just wreck hunter as feral? Also I think mage and lock both beat hunter at the highest levels assuming there isn't spots to LOS. If you can line of sight them you win but if not they likely beat you. At the highest level of play I mean. We saw from the $100,000 makgora tournament most of the best players were warlocks or mages and the final 2 was a mage vs warlock if I remember right.
@davidsantiago7808 from my memory in Vanilla at this level, I didn't fear druids. The only ones worth mentioning were rogues with crippling poison (without it they just get clipped and kited, but I don't think a single rogue today would go without poisons), warriors (cos we outright lose that matchup at 60), other hunters and warlocks (purely cos DoTs don't dissipate after you kill them). I also played Marksman for Scatter Shot and Aimed shot. Scatter is so fucking useful in PvP. One of my favourite tricks was to scatter someone about to LoS me and reposition where they can't LoS me. Catches people off guard a lot cos they're expecting you to run in, but they get caught in the open on the corner. So as Marksman, fearing my pet is almost useless. It's just used for pushback and a tiny bit of extra damage. But ultimately druids lose the match up, cos you can spam Wingclip and they can't spam shapeshift. Eventually the Wingclip sticks, and it's over. Also you have Fear Beast, which again will either fear the druid or force them to shapeshift. A feral druid can't shift into a major form (not travel/aqua) more than maybe 4/5 times, and they GCD every time along with your Wingclip. They also don't have any slows at all. And again if they want to root you they have to shift. You can oom them really easily and then they're dead in the water. Even stick a Viper Sting down. It still ticks while they're shifted. I guess also worth mentioning your Aspect changes too. 8% dodge from Monkey is actually huge since you're an agility class (agility also stacks dodge). So using Monkey while you burn their mana out can protect you from a lot of damage.
