    Just saw this video the other day, and... there went three hundred bucks, hahaha. I ended up deciding that I can't live without the Yellowstone card and got a floppyemu (finally) to go with it. Floppies are great, but without new ones being manufactured, I was going to need to futureproof the IIe sooner or later. This will also solve the question of whether to buy the Nox Archaist expansion: It looks like it will come only with a hard drive image, so it wasn't going to be so usable on my floppy-only system.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  Год назад +1

      Ha ha! That's awesome. The Floppy EMU is cool, and even though it isn't quite the same experience as playing Nox Archaist with floppies, it's a heck of a lot more convenient. Plus, it makes it easy to back up your disk images, so you can have multiple save points.

    I got my Yellowstone last week and have been testing it on my IIe and IIGS. It’s been working great with one exception. I can’t get my IIe to boot Total Replay. The computer crashes or hangs during startup. Using a floppy emu. On the IIGS it works fine. Other ProDos hard disk images also boot fine on my IIe. I have no other way to try the Total Replay image on my IIe so I can’t confirm where the issue lies. Hoping a firmware update may fix that in the future.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  2 года назад

      That's weird. I just tried it with Total Replay version 4.01, and it works fine. The file is named SMART0-Total Replay.hdv. I have the FloppyEmu (model C) set to SmartPort Hard Disk mode. The screen says Apple II Version 0.2V, CPLD firmware v34.

      I have the same version 4.0.1. I see your IIe is Enhanced. That could be the difference. I plan to get an enhancement kit soon and I’ll try it again. Thanks for letting me know it works for you.

    Also, don't hook up the Noisy Disk box to a FloppyEMU if it's in 800K or SmartPort Hard Drive mode. :). It really only works as intended when emulating 5.25 disks.

    • @CT6502
      @CT6502  2 года назад

      @@gklinger If you're just using this on a IIe or IIGS then it probably doesn't make much difference. The Yellowstone card itself is more versatile (for hooking up other types of drives), so if you have the money, that might be a better route.

      @@CT6502 I actually have the BOOTI and the FloppyEmu. I bought the Yellowstone because it seemed like it would give let the FloppyEmu take care of everything. Not sure what to do with the BOOTI now. It's really neat and I hate to see it just sitting there.

      @CT6502  2 года назад

      @@gklinger Well... to be honest, I'm actually using the Booti for most things. It's very convenient to be able to select both hard disk and floppy disk images by just hitting a number when the computer turns on. With the FloppyEmu you have to change modes and restart. Plus, the files need to be named "SMART0, etc.". Booti doesn't care what the names are...
