I am 9 years old and I talked to my parents yesterday and how I have been thinking for the past 2 weeks of how I want to start my own baking business and they approved right away. They told me how you are going to have to practice and do research for a couple of weeks and I am just getting started. I know mistakes and failures are gonna come my way but that won't stop me. I was thinking 2 weeks before I told my parents what I wanted to do and I was thinking that if they say yes, I know what I will do. DONT WORRY! I have help by my grandmas and family. My main ideas are: cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, frozen desserts, dipped desserts, pumpkin pies or any type of pies, brownies, rice Krispy treats, and much more! Thank you very much for this video and know I know what mistakes I shouldn't make and the best thing to do. I really appreciate it!
My thing is that people fell to forget is ingredients cost money and your time is valuable..You are doing them a favor..People want you to give them things..
Thank you! I just decided today to start a baking business from home with my daughter who has special needs. She and I both have a lot of dietary restrictions and we’ve perfected 3 recipes that suit us being both gluten free and vegan. No one can believe that our desserts don’t contain these things! We can even make one of our cakes grain free/Paleo and it’s amazing! But there’s no one in my area doing this, yet I know there’s a market for GF and vegan because our local small grocer sells these items so we are going to give it a try and I’m soooo happy to be able to help my daughter with a vocation that brings her joy! And when she gets the opportunity to serve people she’s in absolute heaven!
Omg that is so AWESOME!!! I'm so excited for you guys... seeing an opportunity and grabbing it like that that's how a lot of big businesses are created 😜 I'm wishing you guys all the success in your baking business 😘😘😘
Awesome idea! I told my daughter that she should start making gf cakes as I’ve been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and am really missing baked goods 😢. I know I cannot be the only one missing a good cake!
Ive done this too before. And i was omly given a week on th cake request. I could have essily said no. But i had to work hard to make the practice cake BEFORE GIVING AND ANSWER.
I currently work at Walmart as a cake decorator and I’ve been doing it for about a year now and I’ve been so upset with my job lately. I’ve realized, I don’t like working for Walmart I want to be able to have the freedom to decorate whatever I want lol. I’ve baked a few times though, I’m going to start making cakes for family and see how that goes. Everyone keeps telling me to just start making my own cakes but I’m so scared to start this up lol
I think what you should do is start by making cakes for friends and family only until you are comfortable doing it for customers... I must tell you though it doesn't get easier... no matter how much skills you have the hardest part is always starting lol... u just have to trust in yourself and make the jump 😁 wishing u lots of luck on your cake journey 💃🏾
Hey Rissy, it's been 10 months, I hope you've been alright. I've actually begun to lay out some plans surrounding starting a baking business of my own next year; I said yk what imma come to RUclips and see if anything on here could help me. Baking has been my passion for the past 5 years,I worked in a bakery/restaurant for that same amount of time as well. Anyways,I think you should start and have confidence that your business will be awesome. If it's possible for us to connect in the future, you could respond and leave your Instagram :)
@@berrybabyluv hey there! For a few months I had a little buzz going on lol. It’s very time consuming and life isn’t set up for me to do it that way in this moment. However, I still do work at Walmart and I get to work on bettering my skills so when I can 100% be free I’ll be awesome!
I just wanted to thank you so much !! I started my baking business and I did not knew how to price my cakes until I saw your video and I got your pricing and contract, I love it
Absolutely love that you spoke a raw truth on persons with questions that are ABSOLUTELY attainable with a search engine ...and thank you for this video 💛
You’re so amazing Janie! Your channel is one of my favorites. I just started getting interested in channels for bakery businesses since wanting to start my own and my own RUclips channel with it. I relate to you so much and am a pushover too. Love your heart, your energy and so much more. I’ve learned so much from your channel already and you’re also the type of person I’d want for a friend. Sad to have seen you go from your channel but totally understand and wish you the very best! 💕🙏❤️
Ive been baking from home for a couple years now. Ive procrastinated a bit on a website and need to make a contract. Espically with dos and donts. You have helped me so much and now i feel like im ready for these things. Ty!
Wow, you remind me of family. I love how in-depth and useful this video. I do feel like I am a pushover also. I really don't like that I am like that, but I don't want to dissappoint anybody. Thanks for the encouragement. I will definitely watch your other videos. This helped a lot. God bless you and your buisness.
I loved how you talked about everything ❤❤❤ This is my first time to watch to your channel as I am planning to have my baking business with my sister in our house as a sideline and I am looking for some tips. Thank you! ❤
Thank you. From Watching you speak I can tell you are genuine and want to help out starting Bakers. Every point was valid, even practicing with a client's cake, it happens more often than people think. Am working at getting my business up, you are so right, some clients can make you feel sorry for them and take advantage. I'll take every single advice to heart and toughen up. Thank you. Really thanks for sharing your experience😘😘
Y0ur videos are so informative and great! And you get right to the point. So many videos feel like they stumble over their words and their 10 minute videos could be 4 minutes lol yours are information packed! Thank you!
I started practicing for making customed cake few months ago and decided to open my business this month but i doubt myself if i can really do it because i still doubt myself in decorating a cake. I'm glad i found your channel, this is so informative. But, yeah im still doubting but i really want to start this smol business of mine 😆
thank you so much for this video! im 15 (almost 16) and plan on selling cupcakes and other treats:) my friends and family have been encouraging me to start so your videos have been very helpful to start
Thank you for sharing! , is it okay to start a home business with one type of dessert? I want to start a mini cheesecake business. A lot of my friends and family are pushing me to start selling. I love baking and making people happy with my desserts. But I am a little nervous 😬.
Absolutely! You can definitely start with just one desert actually I would even recommend it because that way you can become an expert for that particular dessert and everyone will come to you for that. I would say honestly just do it you have really nothing to lose . Wishing you the best of luck 😘
I feel u, I want to do just homemade pound cakes, something I'm scared but I think the more you bake the more work it going to take. Be comfortable in what u feel and go for it. With God help we can do anything!!!🙏🏾
Amazing.. I launched my business and I think I made these mistakes. Wish I watched it before I did. Thank you. I really enjoy and learn from your videos. X
Oh trust me we all make these mistakes in the beginning the important part is to learn from them ☺️ best of luck on your business you’re gonna kill it!
Girl, you said it. As someone who is learning to bake, the questions some people ask baking bloggers drive me up the wall! And I hate it when entitled people whine in the comments about what measurements the author uses in their recipes. "Boo hoo, this recipe doesn't have volume measurements so I can't make it! >:( Wah wah!" Then they rate it 1/5 stars. Like someone owes them something! Edit: Oh yeah, great video by the way! Thanks for the tips. :-)
Hahahah yesss omg my pet peeve I used to think 🤔 maybe I’m being a bit harsh but no some of these things are so easy to figure out if only they did a little bit of research 🤦🏾♀️ and thank you btw 😘
Oh my...its like you are ME ! Im just like you..woth each single point youve mentioned. Thank you for this! It is a joy and therapeutic, BUT NEVER FAILS when its for a client OH MY GOODNESS...MY NERVES ARE UP THE WALLS😫🥴
love these tips! You are right! It is so much fun when you are doing it as a hobby. I just made my first fancy cake the other day. I am addicted to making swirly designs with the piping tips!
Thank you so much! Your info is always so helpful. Your worth video really really helped me with my pricing. I’m going to binge watch all your videos for inspiration and tips as I’m getting more serious with my home baking business. Thanks and keep the advice coming!🤗
I am 12 and am going to start a homemade pastry selling business in my building! Even I had made many dummy cakes just to make sure that it does not change so now I am sure it is good so tomorrow is the day when I will sell it ❤️🎉 I am soooo....excited. this helped tho. The prices I found out the cost of every ingriedient and the entire cake was .And then S.P is 40Rs. for per pastry . Thank you ❤️
haha, WHY WONT YOU TURN RED! that's me with my fondant and frosting. I love this video, yes pricing is my biggest issue! getting on that now. thanks for your time
When starting a baking business, is it okay to use recipes that I got from youtube or the internet in general? I've always thought that you need to have original recipes when selling desserts but I find that difficult to do when there is already a recipe for it online. I just wanted to ask because personally it feels like stealing and I didn't want to start a business based on that.
Absolutely you can... what you can't do is pretend that it is a recipe you developed on your own... but you can use a recipe you found on the internet no problem
You're such a nice person. I don't see a problem with using a recipe you found on youtube🤷🏾♂️. Unless you're a neighbors with the youtuber😂😂. Do your thing girl
This video is so helpful for me, Im starting my cake business by making customizing cakes, I dont have a branding yet...and i priced too low for all the work and effort im putting for a single cake!!
I didn’t rent a place yet but I got my LLC paid for and I didn’t even use it just before Covid. I had to shut down everything a month before I was going to sign a 1:07 contract and this hit. 1:07 1:071:07 ❤❤
I make and sell things on Etsy and learned the hard way that you should always be firm on your price, as long as it's a fair price etc never let people try to bargain you down. I look at it this way, the customer is paying for a service so they should expect to pay for what they are getting. Do they go to the grocery store and try to bargain down the price of a jug of milk? No they don't. So they should not be able to do that to you.
Amen to that!!! Isn’t it sad that it always takes trial and error before we become confident?! But I’m glad you’ve come to that conclusion and that’s a great advice
Hi !! Im trying to open my own pastry shop.. for now im only taking commands online and your tips were very helpful !!! You seem like a very sweet person and motivating !!
Awww thank you 😘 I try I try 😊 lol 😝 I’m so happy for you taking this step! I’m wishing you the best of luck on your business... don’t forget me when you are big and famous... I am going to frame this post so that when you make it I have proof that I helped you along the way 😜 jkjk 🤭
Inam glad I found this and I only looked for such tips because I already committed the first mistake... trying a new recipe to give to a client. I am super new at the business aspect. And the mistake was def. Obvious but nevertheless I made it. Hard lesson but a learned one. Thank you for these tips! ! !
Thank you for all your videos! Super helpful for beginners and anyone just interested on the home side of a bakery business. I hope to be able to use your tips and if every successful i'd love to come back to thank you again! Give and Take Cake and Care
This was a very informative video! Thank you for sharing this! I bought my LLC last year for my birthday and I’m finally ready to get out there and work my business!
Thank you so much for all of these amazing videos. You provide such great information in a really clear and concise way. I am beyond grateful! I’m really hoping to be up and going by the end of this year, or beginning of 2022 🤞🤞🤞
Made the first mistake while trying to fundraise for my student loan 😂 but I got VERY lucky and no mistakes were made thank goodness! But now I’m thinking of starting up a little baking business because working for someone else just ain’t it and I have 2 kids with another on the way.
Hahah oh don’t you worry we’ve all been there done that lol... but thankfully you didn’t mess up so that’s good... ohhh boy I know exactly how you feel!!! Having kids, running a household and still trying to start a business is so much hard work... I like to think there’s a light at the end of the tunnel though... someday!
Happy New Year, Janie! I've been pushing my brand of chocolate chip cookies based on my mom's recipe for 4 years now. Wow, you've stated wisdom beyond words and I don't envy you! LOL! On my end, I was wondering about your experiences as a sole proprietor and how you revise your business plan to accommodate you companies growth. All the best!
Congratulations on launching your business that’s awesome!!! That sounds like a great Friday fixes idea for you mind if I talk about it on an episode? It is a pretty complex answer one that would be way too much to answer in a simple message lol
Hi Janie❤️👋 I absolutely love your videos and I subscribed early last year and been binge watching your videos back to back and I recently started my home baking business and I must say you were one of my ✋ inspirations to get my hobby into a business, And thank you for this video super helpful and I must say I really learnt a lot from you. Love you all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦❤️😘
Wow! Glad I saw your video. I'm from Phils, btw and I'm planning to start my own baking business. This video helped me a lot already and I think I'll be watching all your videos starting today. :D Regarding the last part of your video, I feel the same way lol. It happened to me once when someone asked me something that is already explained on my chat and when I explained it again to her calmly, it ended like it was my bad for not answering her directly. :P
Oh boy! I’m so glad you’re finding my videos helpful! I do agree with you people will ask the same question over and over again while all they have to do is read lol it’s insane
Hiii I’m a 12 year old who just started a bakery and my aunt went to culinary school and I ask how much I should price things. I was wondering how do I get groceries stores to sell my product.
Bryan Lopez how nice! I’m so glad you found your passion at such a young age that’s awesome! I’m actually not sure 🤔 I might research and make a video about it soon
I agree experimenting on a clients cake is the worst thing I have ever done. I have had so much excess anxiety not knowing how the cake or other dessert was because i hadn’t tried it myself. Usually they weren’t fails only once I made a pie trying to make it reduced sugar and it didn’t taste good. But I am learning to save myself the headache and try the recipe or whatever ahead of time.
I use either buttercream or fondant... it’s not cheap but I enjoy it so it’s like any hobby like painting for example you need to buy paint and brushes and canvases you see what I mean
Hey I really liked your video and agree with all your suggestions. Related to your research point I wanted to know if you have any books suggestions regarding opening your bakery or regarding baking in general. Please let me know. Thanks
Thankyou ur video is really clear and helpful...and I wonder about those comments too that y dnt people google it?🤭and about the red colouring of butter cream u should check cupcakes savvy kitchen buttercream recipes..they hav shared a tip to colour red and black colour especially...
This may seem like a stupid question though I'm not really sure. Does a person make all of there own recipes in a bakery or do they make every recipe from their own imagination? Alot of people serve food that are the same as I can see or are they just doing something different. That heavily confuses me
Hi, my 1st time seeing your video and you are like me, soft-type person. I've just started my home-baked social media & selling basic cakes - brownie & banana cake but the response rate is not that good. My market for cakes are quite competitive and am not good in decorating cake yet. Am satisfied with my sponge/chiffon cakes but everyone may know on how to make this or people may think it's a normal cake and that could be the reason on the response rate. So, I'm not sure if I should sell the normal cake or explore an unique cake which may takes time to explore it.
That’s such a great question I’m definitely gonna answer in dept in a Friday fixes because it’s pretty complex but the short answer is no stick to what you know for now 😊
Im 15 right now, Ive been planning to get a job once I turn 16 and start saving up money. Do you have any tips for someone as young as me wanting to start my own bakery business?
I have been baking for so long but i am afraid if i get it licensed i could not be able to make anything because i will be paying taxes and permits what do you suggest
Hi Jamie, thank you so much for this video. Do you have a video on how to manage deliveries from home by myself? Appointment, delivery fee, payment etc.. ❤️
Hey! I love your video and am gonna start my own online baking business just at 16, however I’m not sure how to get the word out on social media, could you please give me some tips? How do I send it to food bloggers etc?
Oh that's awesome! 😁🤗 I'm glad you found your passion at such a young age! I would say to advertise you want to start locally first so at your school at church at any activities you do like a sport etc... have your friends and family help you also... maybe your parents can tell their coworkers about you as well... one day you can bake something and they can take it to work... word of mouth is always the best. You can always bake and post pictures on your social media pages like facebook or instagram as well that always works great
well, i started off making cookies for my family and friends, they all said it's good so i started off with a business. it's all vague and random right cause the only price i take is the ingredients price cost.
Luluah Sitabkhan that’s exactly how I started too 😊 that’s awesome 👏 super excited for you and where this business of yours may head 😘 wishing you best of luck!
awesomee!!! im also trying to start a baking business for cupcakes and cookies..do you have any recipes for cupcake frosting ? Anyway thanku! this vid helped me alot :)
Congratulations 🎉 on starting your business I’m wishing you lots of success 😁 I use either Italian or American buttercream... I have a recipe for my Italian buttercream on my channel as well as a easy meringue buttercream... both can be found under my recipe playlist
Can u please tell about how can i follow any recipes on internet where the weight of the final cake isn't mentioned... Coz i don't want to be making too much of what might not turn out so well...
1. Don't experiment on final/client's product.
2. Go for proper pricing strategy.
3. Don't under price yourself. Have yhe courage to ask for your price
4. Do not let client take advantage of your nice behavior. Try to keep orders/contracts in writing.
5. Don't underestimate how hard bakery business is. It's much different than hobby :D
Bonus: Research on your own, internet has ton of resources! :D
Thanks

haha, WHY WONT YOU TURN RED! that's me with my fondant and frosting. I love this video, yes pricing is my biggest issue! getting on that now. thanks for your time
Lololol red is the absolute DEVIL lolol 🤣
Ikrrr I was thinking the same thing !!!
What about using box deserts? Does that matter at all?
This video is so helpful for me, Im starting my cake business by making customizing cakes, I dont have a branding yet...and i priced too low for all the work and effort im putting for a single cake!!
Oh I totally hear you it’s so hard to get all that right in the beginning but I promise it’s all worth it in the end 😊
Just found this video:) you are so real! You are saying things and they are exactly what I feel:)
Yayy so glad you found it helpful thank you for watching 😘
I didn’t rent a place yet but I got my LLC paid for and I didn’t even use it just before Covid. I had to shut down everything a month before I was going to sign a 1:07 contract and this hit. 1:07
1:07 1:07 ❤❤
Love your page, tips and information thank you for posting info !

Wow! Glad I saw your video. I'm from Phils, btw and I'm planning to start my own baking business. This video helped me a lot already and I think I'll be watching all your videos starting today. :D
Regarding the last part of your video, I feel the same way lol.
I really liked this video it’s really helpful wish me luck I wanna start my own small business
Yayy best of luck on your business ❤️
Yes mam, 2021 am rolling the ball. Thank you🙏🏾
Boi Mekwe yayyyy I’m happy for you wishing you all the best of luck
Hiii I’m a 12 year old who just started a bakery and my aunt went to culinary school and I ask how much I should price things. I was wondering how do I get groceries stores to sell my product.
Bryan Lopez how nice! I’m so glad you found your passion at such a young age that’s awesome! I’m actually not sure 🤔 I might research and make a video about it soon
Thank you for this video! How much should I spend on ingredients for the cakes?
You’re welcome ❤️ you should totally check out my pricing video it might help
I agree experimenting on a clients cake is the worst thing I have ever done. I have had so much excess anxiety not knowing how the cake or other dessert was because i hadn’t tried it myself. Usually they weren’t fails only once I made a pie trying to make it reduced sugar and it didn’t taste good. But I am learning to save myself the headache and try the recipe or whatever ahead of time.
I know isn't that the worst?! I have definitely learned this the hard way as well... never again! Lol
This was so helpful and encouraging!!!
Yayy glad you liked it
What do you use to practice on a dummy cake? Would you use frosting? How much would that cost?
I use either buttercream or fondant... it’s not cheap but I enjoy it so it’s like any hobby like painting for example you need to buy paint and brushes and canvases you see what I mean
Yassssss welcome back u was missed ! 💛💛💛💛 great tips I look forward to more videos!!!
Thank you 🤗 I cnt wait for u guys to see all I have prepared
Very good info. Thanks so much for sharing. 🙏🏾👍🏾,, I'm sticking with it this time, I've got to WIN!!!

Hey
I really liked your video and agree with all your suggestions. Related to your research point I wanted to know if you have any books suggestions regarding opening your bakery or regarding baking in general. Please let me know. Thanks
I learned only basic in baking, should I practice more before I take order from clients?
I think you can start just as long as you don’t take anything over your head you should be fine 😊
Thanks for the info about experimenting on clients cake... I did that... and thank God... I made it through...
Hahah oh boy! I'm glad it turned out good for you I had to learn the hard way lolol never again 😂
Hi. What is the easiest way to attract more customers?especially in a baking business
You should totally watch my advertising 101 video 😉
Thankyou ur video is really clear and helpful...and I wonder about those comments too that y dnt people google it?🤭and about the red colouring of butter cream u should check cupcakes savvy kitchen buttercream recipes..they hav shared a tip to colour red and black colour especially...
Thank you so much for watching and also for the tip about red coloring 😘
Hi janie,i like your advice and it very usefull for me.Any tricky business to cover up customer.
Thank you for watching I'm glad you found it helpful
This may seem like a stupid question though I'm not really sure. Does a person make all of there own recipes in a bakery or do they make every recipe from their own imagination?
Alot of people serve food that are the same as I can see or are they just doing something different. That heavily confuses me
Hi can you tell me what are the must need equipments to start cake business?
That’s a great question... I plan on making a video in that soon
Hey Janie, you really helped me to get courage to start my work :) so glad U girl I’m from Ecuador
Yayy congratulations I’m happy for you! Wishing you a lot of success with your business
That’s such a great question I’m definitely gonna answer in dept in a Friday fixes because it’s pretty complex but the short answer is no stick to what you know for now 😊
@@JaniesSweets Great! Looking forward for your next Friday fixes😉
Im 15 right now, Ive been planning to get a job once I turn 16 and start saving up money. Do you have any tips for someone as young as me wanting to start my own bakery business?
I’d love to do a Friday fixes episode on that soon 😘 good luck on your business btw
@@JaniesSweets Thank you ☺

Hi Jamie, thank you so much for this video. Do you have a video on how to manage deliveries from home by myself? Appointment, delivery fee, payment etc.. ❤️
I do plan on making one in the near future 😉
@@JaniesSweets sounds great. Thank you ☺️
You can always bake and post pictures on your social media pages like facebook or instagram as well that always works great
I'm new to the business.
Love this💗
❤️
well, i started off making cookies for my family and friends, they all said it's good so i started off with a business. it's all vague and random right cause the only price i take is the ingredients price cost.
@@JaniesSweets alright thanks !!!😄💖
Can u please tell about how can i follow any recipes on internet where the weight of the final cake isn't mentioned... Coz i don't want to be making too much of what might not turn out so well...
Unfortunately I’m not really sure 😞
