Comptine d'un autre été - l'après midi is a piece that appears on Yann Tiersen's soundtrack to the French movie Amelie which was released in 2001. The original is for solo piano only and is an extremely popular piece for amateur pianists here on RUclips to upload. In fact if you look real closely at the terms and conditions for RUclips it does say that all amateur pianists have to record and upload this track so make sure you're not breaking the rules.... All right, I may be making that bit up but it seems like the case :-D
The original solo piano version sounds great by itself and really doesn't need any embelishment but I also offer a reimagined version that sounds a little fuller and hopefully adds even more emotion to a beautiful piece.

I think that’s the point
It makes you think about everything. Your life, your past, fond memories of lost ones, longing for your childhood. The future, the possibilities, your fears. Everything you did, everything you didnt but could. Everybody is conflicted between happiness and sadness, and this piece of music represents the fine balance between it. It hits everyone, because we all share this struggle.

ok so, i have crippling depression and have had multiple attempts of suicide but i had this one friend who never gave up on me, she continued to believe that i could get better and helped me through. but, like all legends, she passed away this date last year after a car crash. my life has never been the same but im always told that she would want me to live. one of my distinct memories of her is that she could play this on the piano beautifully and she used to play it for me whenever i got bad. now i have dedicated myself to learning this but ill never be able to play it as beautifully as her.
So sad, yet so beautiful. May your friend RIP.

Life is beautiful, but the only way to really expirience it is if YOU believe in it. Noone can do it for you. It's hard, it will take time, buT as long as you don't give up, you will get there.

There's a finnish word "haikea, haikeus" that I feel. I checked the translator and it suggests wistful and plainitive, though I wouldn't know if they are the same. Like I feel fragile and kinda stopped (to think and reflect). Yeah, a compilation of happy and sad feels flow through me. Today I think this tries to teach me to stop more to think about life.

This song is the first song I ever played and learned on piano completely. I've played it so many times for so many people and has always had a deep connection in my heart. A while back I came here and left a comment saying I will NEVER be able to play it as beautiful... then someone commented, encouraging me and he was very kind and told me that I could do it and he asked that when I can play it, to let him know... hi, I'm in a similar situation than you, I've become an empty shell of life. What was once so enjoyable, is now just something that occurs. Ive not felt love for 4 years, only negative emotions get through. life seems like a big theather play, with you on the background, barely recognizable. Empathy is long gone and I need professional help. Feelings get confused, I had a depressive episode before this with dark thoughts I ache to suppress. I don't want my own blood on my hands.

Belki hiçbir şekilde ilgini çekmeyecek ama olur da beni dikkate alırsan sana bir kitap tavsiye etmek isterim. İsmi "panik atakta". Asla kişisel gelişim kitabı olarak düşünme. Kendi kendini yardım terapisi. Mucize bir kitap. Hayatımı çok değiştirdi. Kitabı bitirmek 3 ayımı aldı ama ilaç gibi geldi. Oradaki terapileri denileni isterim. Kendini iyi bak.

Bana çok faydası oldu. Psikolog karşısında o kadar rahat olamadığım için verim alamamıştım ama bu kitap iyi geldi. Uzun vadeye yayılarak dikkatlice okunduğunda doğrudan etki ediyor. Bence şans vermelisiniz. Bir yüksek lisans öğrencisi ve aynı zamanda da bir öğretmen olarak söylüyorum ki basit bir kişisel gelişim kitabı değil.

neden buraya geldim bilmiyorum. sanki içimde kaybolmuş bir dünya var. Belki de o dünyamın verdiği huzuru aramak için geliyorum. You still can practice hand separately but you have to do it with rythm in mind (you need to carefully count pulsation)

@@oxl72 Yeah I found it hard. To play with both hands, and fast enough, is a big challenge for me. But it's a skill to master, if you truly want it.
And if you want it bad enough, you will make it 👍🏼
