I went to a dart tournament in Carson City, NV back in the early or mid 90's, at the Ormsby House, with some friends. We were all relative newbies to darts and went more or less for the fun and to see how good we could do. To our surprise it was loaded with top players, a couple of which were from Chicago, and iirc the #3 rated player in the US was there. And it so happens that Paul Lim was there, and watching him throw was eye-opening. It was the first time I saw someone throw at the 20's, block the triple, then drop down and nail a T19. o.O *Again iirc Lim was wearing an Accudart shirt, like they were sponsoring him, but I can't seem to find anything to substantiate that online. (Accudarts was pretty big at the time.)
