ABOUT RITESH AGARWAL: Ritesh is the founder & CEO of OYO, India’s largest branded network of hotels. 22-year-old Ritesh started travelling across India when he was 17 and realized that the lack of predictable and affordable hotels was plaguing the Indian hospitality sector.
He started his entrepreneurial journey with Oravel Stays, a platform for listing budget accommodations. In 2013, Oravel transformed to OYO - a managed marketplace for standardized hotels, now present across 200 cities with over 70,000 rooms. Ritesh is the first Asian-resident Thiel Fellow and has also been listed as a Forbes '30 under 30' achiever, in the consumer technology category.

The crowd seems so dormant, Ignorant and jealous. Claps, applaud were not enthusiastic and the speech was actually excellent which deserved a standing ovation. Can feel for them coz many of them are in their 30s, 40s and still doing 9-5 jobs for any random company.

That's your problems that you are seeing things in terms of money and not in terms of impact. The larger the impact the bigger will be the money.

Facebook was my idea but with no money I couldn't start
You can try to do it now too. You do not have to be the first to market. You should however make sure you are at the right time for it and also that you have a better implementation than your competitors.
For example, Orkut was big, but facebook came out of nowhere and took the spot. However google plus tried to do the same and failed.
Myspace was big too, but youtube swept in.
So you see fb or youtube were not first to market, they just did something right.
So you can defeat oyo too if you still are confident about it.

As they say idea is not that important as execution is. So next time you have an idea just start at a small scale.

What a tragic story. Hopefully he savages something and learns from his mistakes. Moral - All the fluff talk will not work, it's all about creating a brand that has to be trusted. Unfortunately nothing positive associated with Oyo. The red logo is like a danger sign to customers.
