Agreed. I just discovered Adam's channel, and I'm glad to see it's about to reach the 100k mark. I also discovered that, judging by this video's upload date, next saturday is Breaking Bad's 10th anniversary. So either way, it's time to cook. To prepare for the celebration of an upcoming milestone.
I read online that it helps people in other countries that don't speak English. That way, they can copy and paste that into a translator for themselves. Just a way to possibly get other views across the world. Thanks for watching/commenting! Hope you subscribe for future vids.
Entertain The Elk I was told it was for search results, but that is another great reason. If you ever see a description with random words, they are fishing for hits, desperately.
You take your personal opinion about entertainment WAY too seriously. And, yes, I watched Breaking Bad & loved it, and I still watch The Simpsons & still love it. However, I would LOVE for The Simpsons to end for the complete OPPOSITE reason that ex-fans like you would want it to end. I want The Simpsons to end because I still love it & want to not have to keep feeling "obligated" to watch it. In the end the difference between crappy entertainment/art versus great entertainment/art is trivial compared to the actions we take in real life. To mathematical & scientific & engineering discoveries. To political revolutions for good.
Your videos are excellent! I can't wait until your channel blows up and I have the honor of saying I was here when you were under 2k subs. Haha! Keep up the great work! It's only a matter of time now.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this video! I've patiently waiting for Better Call Saul to return. God I miss Breaking Bad!!! Also, have to finish Once Upon a Time in the West. Watched some of it on Netflix, and enjoyed it's visual storytelling, I just never got back around to it!
Thank you so much! I miss Breaking Bad too. I just rewatched it recently and it holds up so well. Definitely watch Once Upon a Time in the West while it's still on Netflix. It's great. Watch Sergio Leone's other spaghetti westerns while you're at it. Oh, and share this with your friends! :)
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one lauding this channel in the comments. Amazingly interesting content and very well done. I subscribed on the first watch.
Another great video. Subscribed a while back. You should have a much larger viewership, this is gold. Just finished the series (a bit late yeah I know) Seriously one of the best shows I've ever seen, love the tone, the character portraits, just all around so well done. Thanks man, keep em coming
If you're doing this you've got to do the Sopranos. Without Sopranos there is no BB. Bridge on the River Kwai is also a massive influence. Protagonist becomes antagonist without realising.
Great scott! These awesome video essay channel are sprouting all over the place! I've subscribed to about thirty or forty video essay channels and it's terrific to see signs of intelligent life on RUclips. Great work, I look forward to more amazing videos.
It's a masterpiece and Bogart was fantastic, but just watching it yesterday reminded me so much of the themes, scenes, characters and ideas in Breaking Bad. The Mexican Bandits and villains! The Gold is like the meth! And the trio is like Walt-Dobbs(The rollercoaster of emotions and 'danger'), Jesse-Curtin(The guy with a heart) and Mike(The experienced 'Wise' guy) These are pretty general comparisons but they're definitely there!
How does this have less than 10k views?!?!?! Keep going dude! Keep making these videos. Some of the best analysis videos on RUclips.. you could easily hit the 100k sub mark
I just saw your Simpsons video (through suggestions, for once YT got its suggested videos right! lol) and thought, hey, prettayyy, prettaayyyy, prettayyy, pretty good. Then I saw the other subjects you've done, clicked on several, this is the first I've watched (besides the Simpsons one) and HELL YEAH man this is great! I love finding new video essay channels that analyze subjects I love in profoundly interesting ways! I knew about Once Upon A Time In The West's influence on Breaking Bad, but haven't seen the movie (yet, I've been planning to for a while, it's just one of a million that I plan on watching :P lol) - and this analysis was beautifully crafted in its juxtaposition of both the show and film, and, although I've seen dozens of Breaking Bad analyses by this point, you managed to still draw me in and teach me several new things about the show, and about film-making in general (which I'm deeply interested in, I hope to make movies one day, but I'm starting by at least trying to make some analysis videos first - which I'm working on, but haven't finished any yet, be it laziness or just lack of time / resources. I hope to make that the main focus of my channel though, and watching videos like this really inspire me to try harder to actually get these videos made and put out there.) You've really got a great thing going here, I subscribed immediately during this video! So, in short, thanks for the great content that I've seen so far, and also for the inspiration, finding a new channel that inspires me to be more creative is always a great way to start my day! *sips coffee*
Love all of this! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching. Good luck with your future channel. Coffee fuels greatness. At least, that's what I tell myself. Let me know once you get something going. I'd love to check it out.
Thanks man! I'm working hard on a lot of stuff right now, mostly some new music (posted some of my most recent music on this channel a couple days ago, I plan to just use this for all my different projects instead of having numerous other channels for them) but I'm trying to get analysis videos started, it's just hard to find something that's not derivative of so many others' works, I want to create something wholly original. But that's pretty much impossible with the amount of content out there now haha. But I should be able to get something out pretty soon! I've got a lot of ideas floating around, and some of them have been started, so I should definitely have at least a video or two done by the end of March, if all goes to plan!
Insane how I watched a commercial of AMC hyping up the series is on 10th anniversary of Breaking Bad and I'm glad I was able to watch series around 2013 I think hearing how the show is one of the best as it indeed is a masterpiece. Have nothing see a tv show that a master genius creates a well crafted show that binge watching all other seasons brings me hype to see what's next and I thank Vince Gilligan of it. Even better that Better Call Saul is still one of my favorite current airing show and only one I ever watch something on tv other than sports channels as I glad I able to experience great shows that I can treasure so much experiences of how a main series went into a great direction from beginning to end.
Entertain The Elk Indeed. Glad you are liking the show so far as the same elements from Vince are still great to see that even the show does a great job of making depth of a side character from Breaking Bad into an excellent show. I hadn't watched season 3 yet due to finishing of playing video games that cane out when season 3 aired, but it already did a nice job of making the show kind of lead before the events of Breaking Bad as I heard and saw some screenshots that they're already starting to make the events how Saul encounters his people which I really like the slow sequences as once the show ends, I can fully recommend everyone to watch that one before breaking bad honestly.
Thank you so much! You and my wife make two English teachers I've managed to please! :) Thanks for the sub. Keep an eye out for my new video dropping tomorrow.
great point on the levity, as dark as breaking bad can be, i always find that it felt more easy to watch and never tiresome. i think it also acts as strong contrast to the dark tone, and give breathing room for the viewer. :) also can you make a video about the Sopranos?
I´ve would consider it as good as breaking bad (both 10/10 imo). the series takes a litlle time getting used to but once it has your attention it is hard to let go :)
Giliam plays on words or philosophical view Walter White as Heisenberg principle < it states that the more precisely the position of some particle is determined, the less precisely its momentum can be known, and vice versa> Speed meth gives big momentum but very low expectation of any location or order versus very slow deterministic conformity in life gives no turbulence, but very boring low paid chemistry teacher life who have cancer. Middle and balanced life most hardest mathematical problem :)
not the biggest influence. the biggest influence was Bridge on the River Kwai. he only references it once in the series. Protagonist becomes antagonist without realizing.
26k subs? are you kidding? i'm actually happy to be among the first 26k. it'll make this comment something of a sweet memory when i check back on it after you score your first million. keep up the excellent work, man.
the sopranos was amazing but nowadays there are much better shows it's probably not worth it. sopranos was just the first of it's kind and what kicked off the well written tv drama craze. i'd recommend it if you love mafia stories. nearly all the actors appeared in goodfellas and there are a few nods and references here and there. an even better gangster drama would be Boardwalk Empire (2010-2014), have you seen it? it's about prohibition gangsters, it follows a fictional protagonist but has a lot of real time gangsters as supporting characters, like al capone, lucky luciano, arnold rothstein and a few others. you could probably give the sopranos a miss
Subscribed. I love watching video essays on cinematography and the like, though I did not have a background in that field. It widens my knowledge. Thanks for this. Can you do one on BBC Sherlock? Thanks and more power to your channel.
Your videos are absolutely fantastic. Surprises me to see you only have three thousand subscribers, you definitely earned a new sub. I'm guessing within a year your channel will have 100k+ subs, remember this comment then.
In this video you said B-Bad "was released nine years 'today'". I only wish you had said precisely when that 'today was. Anyway, I enjoyed this immensely. Thanks.
Paul Babcock Hmm. Good point! But thanks for still watching and commenting. Glad you liked it. Check out my other videos and subscribe so you can check out my future videos! :)

Every time I watch a video of yours, I'm stunned by the subscriber count. Your content and production quality is top-notch. You WILL make it brother, keep pushing. You'll always get my like.
i hated the ending as it was to basic and standard , I am getting tired of that standard that made it self very clear early on in the show as this was the ending the same as always. Like a cop show on tv the ending on ep 1 is the same on the 10,000 ep of any other cop show to follow no brake ever in this standard that has been set. But i guess it is about how you get there that counts to people but all and all it is a very good show.
The first 15 minutes or once upon a time is the most grueling and boring piece of cinema I’ve ever seen and even after watching it numerous times I still don’t know what the fuck is going on

This video convinced me to finally watch Breaking Bad. And holy crap, is it good.
This is way too good production for the amount of subs. I hope you get more popular.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I hope they'll start rolling soon.
It's hard for legitimately good content to become popular fast, but when it eventually does, you'll be glad you kept doing it.
seems like a lot of subs for less than a year
4 years later and he got 300k subs
Hank's death scene is also a visual reference. Walter falls to the ground handcuffed in the same way as the young harmonica in the flashback
Reminds me of Every Frame a Painting and Nerdwriter1
Compliment taken! :)
Jared Dowty dude 100
Solid content. I saw your Simpsons video on Reddit. I love these video-essay style videos.
Why'd you include the full transcript in the info box?
Helps people find it by searching for something they remember him saying, or something he mentions that they are searching for.
I read online that it helps people in other countries that don't speak English. That way, they can copy and paste that into a translator for themselves. Just a way to possibly get other views across the world. Thanks for watching/commenting! Hope you subscribe for future vids.
Interesting! Those are great reasons, and I can see why this could be helpful especially with this format of video.
Entertain The Elk
I was told it was for search results, but that is another great reason.
If you ever see a description with random words, they are fishing for hits, desperately.
Well some might call it fishing, but others might call it SEO (search engine optimization). Same way websites are found on Google.
Books are for words. Film is for visuals.
Your videos really nail everything good about the subject. Love this type of content, subscribed.
Awesome! Thanks so much. I'll make you proud :)

This was super informative, I’m not a film student or anything but I feel like I learned something after watching this. Great job
Masterful delivery, Adam, fantastic job.
Thank you so much! :)
Damn dude the song you used in the end is the title song of the latest german netflix series, Dark! I love it!
Also keep up the great work
Thanks so much!

Haha, I sure hope it blows up. If it does, it'll be because awesome people like yourself. Thanks for subbing! I'll make you proud.
Could you do a video essay on The Sopranos?
Most overrated tv show in history
@@thomasmills339 Really? How so?
The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are the two greatest shows of all time in my opinion.
Channels like this is the only reason why I watch youtube. Its great that video like this exist. You're making really good content.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. Hope you subscribe so you can continue on the journey.
damn i watch the series because this video and in 1 day i already watch season 1 thank you
Oh wow, really?? I sparked your interest in Breaking Bad? Glad I can pass along the addiction. Enjoy the series. It only gets better! :)
I am surprised that Gilligan hasn’t cited The Sopranos as an inspiration
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this video!
I've patiently waiting for Better Call Saul to return. God I miss Breaking Bad!!!

Your analyses are on point my man. You earned the hell out of my subscription. Sometimes I like to be reminded how deep visual storytelling can be.
Thanks so much! And thanks for the sub. Watch for my new vid dropping tomorrow.
Hey man, subbed because of your kubrick video (my favorite director of all time), and got to say your content is amazing! Keep up the great work!!
Thank you so much! Glad to have you on board.
...fuck it, time to see it again

Treasure of the Sierra Madre also influenced Vince/Breaking Bad a lot. They are very similar in many ways. TOTSM is one of the best...
Agreed. Love TotSM. I think its perhaps Bogart's best performance.
It's a masterpiece and Bogart was fantastic, but just watching it yesterday reminded me so much of the themes, scenes, characters and ideas in Breaking Bad. The Mexican Bandits and villains! I've never seen The Sopranos... :( I feel like that's one of the biggest shows I haven't seen. Would you consider that better than BB?
I´ve would consider it as good as breaking bad (both 10/10 imo). the series takes a litlle time getting used to but once it has your attention it is hard to let go :)

5:18 SOO TRUE! Thank you!!!
I would like to see a comparison on the way they both used music.
Ooh. Interesting.
not the biggest influence. the biggest influence was Bridge on the River Kwai. he only references it once in the series. Protagonist becomes antagonist without realizing.
Goodbye track in dark
I noticed it
Great work!
Thank you!
Spaghetti? Mumpitz! I watched Once Upon a Time in the West. There are no spaghetti in it.
26k subs? are you kidding? i'm actually happy to be among the first 26k. it'll make this comment something of a sweet memory when i check back on it after you score your first million. keep up the excellent work, man.
Really good work and I can see the effort you put in. I hope I can check back in a month and see you with 6 digit subscribers! You deserve it.

Can you di a video of some kind on Futurama?
Would love to! I love Futurama.
Great channel and content :) high quality. About entertainment. Movies TV SHOWS. Gotta love movies and shows.
Thank you so much!
No way, this has 1200 views?? I'd bet that if you keep this quality of work up and this channel will be huge.
Thanks for the encouragement! I was hoping this would get more views, but I'll keep plugging away.
I love it! very well put together! nice! you have a new subscriber! keep up the great work!
Devalon Cowart Yay! Thanks so much. I'll make you proud.
Nice. Good luck with your channel.
Thank you! Subscribe so you can keep up with my future vids.
sopranos please! unless youve already done it and ive not noticed?? ?
I've actually never watched The Sopranons... :( I need to catch up!
the sopranos was amazing but nowadays there are much better shows it's probably not worth it.
sopranos was just the first of it's kind and what kicked off the well written tv drama craze.
i'd recommend it if you love mafia stories. nearly all the actors appeared in goodfellas and there are a few nods and references here and there.
an even better gangster drama would be Boardwalk Empire (2010-2014), have you seen it? it's about prohibition gangsters, it follows a fictional protagonist but has a lot of real time gangsters as supporting characters, like al capone, lucky luciano, arnold rothstein and a few others.
you could probably give the sopranos a miss
Wow amazing vid

Random question, but what was the name of the song playing at the end of the video?
Hey Aaron! Check the credits at the end. I put everything there.

Great videos , subscribed :)
Whoo ten years
That was top notch
Thanks!
You remind me so much of NerdWriter in a good way :)
Great one, as always :D
Oliwier Faikis Thank you!!
fuck has it been that long
Is this Arthur from Hollywood graveyards ro that weird guy that obsesses about pipe tobacco?
Does anyone by chance know the song used towards the end?
Hey Sean, check my credits at the end. I credit all the songs I used in the video. Hope that helps!
good stuff!
Could you give me a list of the soundtracks you used in this video?
Hey! Check the credits at the end of the video. I have everything listed there. :)
This is one awesome video. Greetings from germany, you're awesome!
