Nah..Freddie Mercury. Only other person on earth in the same league..both vocally and performance skill...forces of nature and messengers of the gods, both of them...and both taken from us quite cruelly far too young.
@@virginiaviola5097 Elsie? And yes, she was good, but more comparable to Chrissie Hynde (The Divinyls were basically a Pretenders clone band at first) than to Freddie Mercury.
I always loved this song by The Easybeats. To see little Stevie Wright singing with such vitality was a real treat. So when Divinyls revived it and Chrissy matched Stevie's exuberance, that became another great memory. Both Stevie and Chrissy were extraordinary frontpersons and incredible rock singers.
One can see the influence of Angus Young in Chrissy's stage presence at this time, as in the schoolgirl uniform, pacing or running back and forth onstage, dancing intensely either in place or across the stage, and egging the audience on at times...
I was fortunate to see the Divinyls at small pub in Adeliade in the late 1980’s (South Australia, Australia) called the Bridgeway, a very under apricated band in my opinion. Australia had a lot of good local rock bands in the 80’s and 90’s, AC/DC, INXS, Midnight Oil, Choirboys, Skyhooks, Cold Chisel, The Angles to name a few, but the only other Rock band that had a female lead singer was Baby Animals (also under apricated) Chrissy, was a hard rock chick, During live performances she would often wear a schoolgirl uniform and no underwear. One of the biggest hits for the Angels was “Am I ever Gonna See Your Face Again”. When the band sang the chorus “Am I ever gonna see your face again” the audience would respond with “No way get fu#ked, fu#k off!” I got to see The Angels at a small country town (Cobram) during the “Peaches and Cream Festival” on the banks of the Murry River. Hard rock days indeed 😊
2021 and I still miss Chrissy Amphlett. What a legendary band.
She was a breath of fresh air
2023 and I still miss the band enjoy the music while the band is still alive with all members good times
God I loved the Divinyls (still do). She was like an Aussie Punk Mick Jagger.

She was so much better than Jagger

She was great, but that's going a little too far - she didn't have Freddie's vocal range or dynamics.
@@hinjurock70 oh, yes she did. Elsie stopped me breathing every time I hear it. Chrissy was the whole package.

The Best Aussie female Rock n roll singer of her time.RIP Legend !
Spawned a heap of other great Rock Chicks.
Of her time? You mean best EVER!
@Kim Palibino In my book she remains the best female Rock & Roll singer in the history of Rock, period.👍👍
She would of been perfect frontwoman for a punk rock band.
Loved this girl! 🌹❤🌹
Man you owe Chrissy to put up this classic Aussie songstress & performer with clear LOUD audio like she always gave us in concert!!!
That pout, that menacing stare, where is a mast I can lash myself to.
Great band. We miss you, Chrissy.

Angus’s Young’s eldest brother George Young co-wrote this song with Stevie Wright. They were in the Easybeats.

Funny thing is, although I know this is an Easybeats' song, I never ever think of this version as a cover. Very strange. I wonder why that is?
Same here, it's probably a generational thing but I do think it's got a lot to do with the fact that this song surpasses the original , maybe .
Probably because Chrissie sings the wrong words!
Because she totally owns it from the very first word
There's the Pogo.
Thank God for you Chrissie x m ichelle x
She was a wild child
If someone fixes the sound on this video I will reserve a place in heaven for them.
Every immigration entry should understand this song 😉🇦🇺😝
One extremely hot Aussie girl❤️❤️❤️👌😍😍😍🇦🇺
This lady was a very interesting person
Looks like the 1984 gig... Anyone have a full concert to upload?
The sound isn't right.
Rick Springfield covered this tune on one of his albums....
Can't hear it - the sound is way down in the mud.
Band lets her down
What year? What venue? Chrissy WOW!😍
Not sure of the year, but I'm sure its from a Australian TV show called "CountDown" , which was similar to the American TV show "Band Stand"
Wow. They were good..
