I was Crushed when the series ended!! I now have the whole series on video, thanks to my son. Was a Birthday Gift from him. I will always treasure this. My favorite was when Vincent and Catherine were waltzing to the song "Lay Down Beside Me" sung by John Waite and Allison Krause. Written by Don Williams. This just Melted my Heart. Oh, to have a Love like this would be Heaven!!
There are so many beautiful thing's left to say about the interacting/connection and bond that Vincent and Catherine shared. Clearly, whenever's I watch them together on the tv screen, it always feel like it's the first time. I can never reconcile what Paracelsus did to Vincent, because this, in my opinion, is what tragically led to the demise of the bond that Vincent and Catherine shared. It was one, cruelest thing's any one could ever do to someone. I have to ask, who can be so cruel. I answer this question myself. Someone who true evil in one's heart..

Blame the network (cbs) that aired the series (I do). A new corporate head came in and wanted the show gone, and quickly, so only 1/2 of a normal full season of episodes were ordered for final season 3. Then the series was officially cancelled by the new cbs head, Jeff Sagansky, on January 4, 1990.
